He could also fly, and compell someone from long distances, as he did to Caroline when he was left to desiccation in the Salvatore basement in season 1. those abilities are written out because they were considered too supernatural. Though I agree it was some cool stuff.

I miss the crow. Yeah, the authors have written off almost everything slightly supernatural. It's almost to the point these are regular folks who happen to need to drink blood to survive.

Why did the authors take away almost all of the supernatural elements of the characters? That is what made them unique. The point of being a vampire and having immortality is to have supernatural abilities. What was the point of taking out the supernatural?
