If Qetsyah created the spell that made Silas immortal... Why she did not take it herself? That would be the most certain way to assure that Silas would never rise again - just survive and hang around for years, garding the tomb, making hunters and training them... I don't know, just a thought.
Or maybe like so many vampires now a days, all she ever wanted was to lead a normal life and have plenty of babies....

I imagine the biggest reason Qetsyah didn't also become immortal is because there were some huge drawbacks--these were things that Silas didn't care that much about (or perhaps he was the first, the guinea pig), but she did. Or these drawbacks ended up being completely unexpected, like the drawbacks the originals experienced. It may have also radically changed his personality as well, who knows until we get some flashbacks.
I'd assume he became hideous, in his absolute and true form--unlike other creatures that are supernatural that look human and become something else; Silas does things opposite. He looks horrific, but has the ability to mask his identity and form, but needs blood to fuel it continually (and for all we know he may have even lost his "true self's form"--we'll find out when they hire another actor). A potential steep price considering that everything we know about him seems to suggest that ALL of his abilities and his immortality require blood to function; if he has plundered multiple hospitals of their entire blood supplies and he really does "use up" blood rather quickly, he'll make vampires look like mosquitoes compared to...vampires. He may have also lost his ability to do any kind of magic except for what was literally spelled and "spelled" out as an innate ability in the creation of his immortal form (ability wise, like super speed and stength, fast regeneration, etcetera for vampires).
So far he seems to have extreme mental manipulation, super strength, and immortality (his "speed" could be that he's "turning off" his projection(s) of his hallucinated form or simply turning invisible--since he can already use glamour effects to look like anyone, invisibility wouldn't be surprising). A witch losing her link to all magic has been stated a few times as being a rather dubious prospect.
Ialso suspect as I've written elsewhere that Silas was in fact responsible for the creation of "The Five" Kol spoke of an old cult that worshipped Silas back in the day. We also know somebody created those daggers though we aren't exactly sure who it was (though it seemed like it was the family's witch friend who had done it, but I now fully doubt this--though she may have provided information and the white oak ash needed to make them). I think some poor witch fell down into that little pit, just like Shane, and was promised a crapload of lies--just as long as she did a list of certain things. The first was the creation of The Five, whos true purpose was to actually release Silas once again with a counterspell. This makes even more sense now that we are fairly certain that the cure does absolutely nothing like "removing immortality". Silas may have made the cure just before he was buried and was smart enough to keep it close to himself the entire time he was becoming entrapped--also making it impossible for Qetsyah to get it away from him. She most likely had to cast that trap spell no matter what, right then, or face death from SIlas...or have to chase him endlessly to try again--it may have been the perfect moment, so she had to take it.
Then Silas, like Shane, got lucky and just happened to have a witch of all people fall down into his pit and bleed. He got her to bring others and created the "silas Fan Club", which Kol speaks of. I think they not only helped Silas create The Five, to "kill" Silas (as their dead loved ones were telling them that they HAD TO do this), but he learned that a race of immortals lived and knew instantly (again, The Five) that this was his ticket out through expression magic, screwing over the spirits. He most likely taught them to make the white oak ash daggers as well, but he probably thought it would kill them--rather than just putting them in a slumber. He also didn't know about Klaus's power (nobody did, except witches in contact with the other side). So Klaus caused his plan to go awry, for awhile.
I really don't think Qetsyah made The Five, it's possible she did, but I think she had been long dead by then. Think about it like this. Qetsyah needed to be atleast alive from when Silas was created TILL The Originals showed up and started to make a lot of vampires. I think that alone shows that she couldn't have done it, she'd be far too old and dead...
My two cents.
