I bet the first return of Mikael, we'll be a flashback in either New Orleans or Mystic Falls a 1000 years back, and see him during the immortality spell.

The Augustine Vampire was able to overpower Damon a vampire way older than him. Mikael is ancient and can't take Klaus who's younger than him. Mikael seemed like his vampire blood thirst was a personal choice and he wasn't as ravenous as the Augustine Vampire who's only source of nourishment became vamp blood. The Augustine Vampire had twice the tenacity that Mikael had when he pursued vampire blood unlike lazy, arrogant Mikael.
Reflexes are part of fighting, correct. Klaus had good reflexes...Mikael had bad reflexes, soooooo. I'm gonna make an educated guess and award it to Klaus.
Mikael wasen't aware, and I think Mikael had some good reflexes himself that we might soon see in flashback.
Mikael looked like a big joke to me.....his only weapon against Klaus was white oak stake and nothing else.....i think the only reason Klaus was afraid of Mikael was because in his(klaus) human life he(klaus) was never able to show bravery in front of him(mikael) and since he never got such emotions against Mikael in his human life he never was able to show it in his vampire life.....i know it's weird explanation but i can only think of that one.....since bravery never existed in klaus when it came to face his father he was never able to bring it in his vampire life
mikael>klaus period!!! I dont care who is stronger but he scares the shit out of klaus!! He is one hell of a bad ass dude!! "nobody cares about you anymore boy" lol.
Not really because back then Klaus was simply a vampire, now he's a hybrid. We have yet to see a full on fight between Mikael the vampire hunter and Klaus the hybrid to define who would be stronger.
So it's hard to say who would be stronger now. Mikael has a mental hold over Klaus but Klaus has his werewolf side. It could go either way. But Mikael was definetely stronger back in the day.

Maybe Mikael's human years + his vamp years translated into his combined strength. Cause if you think about it...this makes little sense why that margin of power between father and children is so grossly visible, especially when they all became vamps around the same time? And don't give me that old vamp blood excuse...cause if that were true all the little power-hungry leeches would be going "Augustine" on each other...
Furthermore, it makes little sense how he was sooo sharp in combat and then got downed by a "surprise stake". The whole situation is like screwed up, imo.
