I'm a bit confused as to how jeremy was able to actually fight silas for a bit at almost an equal footing.
Jeremy did mention silas' abilities not working on jeremy but I only thought that meant the mind reading. How would silas' strength and speed be nullified just because jeremy is a hunter, does that mean that being one of the Five has some sort of silas weaking magic force surrounding the hunter?
Jeremy as a hunter has strength nearlly on par with that of a vampire. Silas has never been quite shown to be "ultra-fast", it may have been mental manipulation the times we've seen him "switch spots" in some instances (in fact I think they were). I really do think that Silas may indeed be faster and stronger than an average human and have extreme mental manipulation capabilities that even work on other supernatural creatures (perhaps because it is derived in some fashion from normal magic; but they may also be why someone was able to create via magical forces a capibility within someone like Matt who couldn't be read or manipulated until Silas showed an ability that may have been previously unknown to those that "knew" of Silas, this "traveller"), plus his immortality (we assume it is so far, because nobody has found a weakness; but I bet if we knew more about the spell that created him and the ingredients involved we could find a weakness, like the white oak, or even something akin to vervaine fairly fast).
Jeremy having been created by Qetsiah (we think) to take down SIlas upon his eventual release into the world made someone that wasn't immortal, but still posed a very signifigant threat to Silas, especially if Jeremy ever gets some allies with him to fight alongside that also cannot be manipulated...easily. Matt so far, though human, may be this only help Jeremy has to rely on (assuming the traveller's death didn't negate Matt's abilites). I really thought the best way they could've dealt with this was to fight fire with fire and to have one of the Originals tell all of the vampires AND humans to completely ignore ANYTHING Silas said to them. That at least would be a chance, though I'm going to guess it would utterly fail.
So I assume members of the five have enhanced abilities against just silas? And by enhanced i mean more so than against regular vamps, because silas easily overpowered damon physically, and damon has been seen overpowering jeremy. So unless silas isnt actually as strong as we would percieve a 2000 year old immortal to be it wouldnt make sense.
How would a hunter be as strong as a 2000 yr old psycho but hardly as strong as 100+ old vamp? The hunter wouldnt, unless he had special abilities against the 2000 yr old vamp.
Well the point is that Silas isn't meant to be strong or fast, he gets all his power from his intense mind control and compulsion. So yeah Jeremy is most likely stronger than Silas, who Jeremy even said was weaker that a vampire. Like the above stated, the whole point for the existence of the five is to kill Silas, as a member of the five I would imagine Jeremy would have the ability to overpower him. I am not saying Jeremy could kill him because obviously Silas is smart and did briefly overpower Jeremy. I think Jeremy is going to be trouble for Silas this season, since he is the only one Silas can't control.
im pretty sure the only time silas has actually fought someone was when damon caught him off guard as alaric and bonnie turned him to stone and when he fought jeremy both times his physical strength appeared as nothing special. i think all his power stems from making people believe he is stronger and faster
No, the reason Jere was able to overpower Silas was due to the special ablities of a Hunter being fully realized only against Silas. The sole purpose of The Five is to kill Silas.
Against any other vampire, they function at 10% of their full potential. Qetsiah was as good a witch as Silas, so if one created a spell for true immortality, then the other created The Cure and a way mortals could fight this true immortal - hence the concept of The Five.
Besides, Jere is perhaps the most gifted among all the hunters. He could perhaps single handedly knock out SIlas if he was completely trained and willing to go that far.
Alarick and Klaus together can overpower Silas (with help from the other Originals, if required).
What do you think?
