As much as I like Damon, I think Stefan and Elena belong together. As Rose said, their love is pure. Also, he saved her life, and it is kind of ironic that Silas is Stefans Doppleganger, and that he fell in love with a Petrova Doppleganger as well.
well yea ur ryt, it is Elena's story bwt 90% of the time but there has been episodes and parts of each season that weren't totally revolving around elena. Examples, 1x01, 1x05,1x06, 1x07, 1x09, 1x13, 1x20, 2x02, 2x04, 2x09, 2x22, 3x03, 3x13, 5x03, 5x11, 5x15 etc. Those episodes were Stefan, Bonnie, Caroline, Damon, Vicki and Katherine specific. But yes Elena is definitely the most explored character.
I think Elena, Stefan, and Damon are all the center of the story, because the series is pretty much entirely about their relationships with one another and it seems they get equal screentime.
About the whole "soulmates" thing, honestly, I think it's a little weird. I think Julie Plec was trying to appease all the fans at once by saying both Salvatores were Elena's soulmates. But the word is starting to get a little bit silly at this point, since the show has established that everyone (specifically Stefan) will have multiple true loves in a life time.
I have no idea what you mean about "Elena hasn't come to her Stefan part of the journey yet" since their romance took up the better part of three whole seasons, and part of the fourth. Their journey, the way it's going, seems to be two people who fell in love too fast, only to drift apart and fall out of love, but rediscover each other as friends.
As for a Stelena/Bamon, so far the writers have denied both. They said Bonnie and Damon would bond, but they have no plans to make it a romance. They also said that Elena's love for Damon is strong, and is comfortably friends with Stefan. I think they're going to explore Stefan/Caroline next season, not revisit Stelena. I just hope to gods that they won't go down the "Elena is jealous of Steroline" route because it'll just be overdone and ridiculous at this point. The Stelena fanbaiting in season 5 was obnoxious enough... they need to give it a rest.
^I agree with all ur saying except fanbating from last season.
If your talking about the alternate reality episode, that was Paul's way of saying it's over and they have both moved on since it was closing the season 1 Stelena vibe, which we saw in Stefan's quote "You can either love someone, or be friends with them." It felt like closure to that relationship.
If your talking about them almost kissing in episode 4, he lost his memory, he wouldnt know better. And them actually kissing, while kat was elena, i dont think that counts in anyway since he rejected her.
After rewatching the whole series, i think he moved on. He hasnt spoken to anyone about his feelings with Elena, not even Lexi when they were dead. Remember how Stefan said "I'd go back to her in a heartbeat" in S4 finale to Lexi? Stefan barely showed any emotion towards wanting her back this season, especially towards the end. He wasnt comforting Elena in that finale, Caroline was comforting him.
I'm not against Steroline, and not against Stelena reunion, but Stelena doesnt seem right anymore, and Steroline just might be the key to Stefan's happiness, other than reuniting with his dead brother.
I'd think the fanbaiting was mostly the first few episodes, though it was rather subtle. Like, Elena stroking Stefan's name on her phone, or her running to him before Damon when they were both injured in Qetsiyah's place, or having Elena be jealous of Qetsiyah and Stefan (though I think she was more possessive than jealous? I dunno). It was just a bit much after season 4, where Elena said she loved Stefan, but was no longer in love with him. It came off like a pitiful attempt to reinvigorate the dying triangle.
But yeah, I agree with you that the alternate reality episode was more of a "goodbye" to Stelena than anything else, because they made a point of showing that it wasn't real at all. It was a very generic fantasy, in the sense that they had their family, they had kids, they were human, and it was perfectly happy. It was like watching a Folgers commercial without the incest. And yet they weren't actually themselves, because Stefan couldn't cook, but Elena could. They made a joke of that, but I think that was the whole point. They weren't themselves. And that's the episode where they established themselves as friends, and were comfortable enough to say "I love you" without any romantic notions. I think that's the point where Stefan was finally out of love with her.
Personally, I'm a huge Steroline fan, and have been since season 2 (or maybe even season 1 when he turned her down... oops). I'm a real sucker for the Best Friends Fall In Love trope. I dunno, they were my first real ship on the show, and I'm so excited that they're likely to happen this season. But I think Stefan's happy ending isn't so much about who he ends up with, but about him learning to accept himself. That's the point on which he's been developing since the beginning.
And I think what's great about him and Steroline is that... when he was with Elena, part of the charm was that he could forget he was a vampire with her, as he told Lexi. She brought out his humanity, and he loved that, because he saw himself as a sort of Dr Jekyll, fighting off his Hyde. But when Elena became a vampire, he saw all his vampirism reflected back at him. You could see him visibly recoil at seeing her flash her fangs when they made out. Elena's type of fun was too Damon-ish for him; it was reckelss and potentially bloody, and he felt he couldn't let go around her without temping the Ripper side of himself. And Elena has only grown more into her darker side, if anything. But with Caroline? He's never had a problem having fun, or letting go. Caroline is his partner in crime. They work like a team, even finishing each other's sentences and thoughts. And because she's the picture of a stable, controlled, moral vampire, Stefan can actually be happy as a vampire around her. In season 5, he never felt like shit about himself when he was with Caroline. She's been his sober sponsor as well as his fun sponsor; Stefan even said, when with Elena, that if Caroline were there, they'd both be laughing. Stefan was so uncomfortable with the way Elena changed when she became a vampire, even though vampirism only heightens your true personality, which says a lot (to me) about how he viewed Elena; I think he put her on a bit of a pedestal, whereas Damon saw all her good and bad (even complimented her on her darkest moments, like daggering Rebekah). But Stefan admired how Caroline grew into herself, meaning that, when her personality what heightened... he actually liked her more, not less.
Sorry, shipper moment. But this is why I think (hope) that Steroline will be endgame. I believe Stefan's overall journey in the series is to accept himself the way he is, and I think Caroline is a great mirror for that, because she embraces being a vampire without embracing the dark nature of it, like Damon/Elena do. And I like to think the writers use the dead on the other side to communicate their thoughts, cause like, Rose's speech in 3x19? Not subtle. And Lexi has been gunning for Steroline since season 4. I'd like to think that's meaningful.
^ I like your points about Stefan's happiness in finding his true identity. Really hoping he does find it with Caroline, it would be fresh compared to that blasted love triangle.
About the fanbaiting episodes like 1-6, i didnt catch them as fanbaiting, more as "thats not who stefan is." For me Stelena really ended when Elena chose Damon in Season 4 finale. Thats when she got over him. So those first Tessa episodes, were all about Stefan 2.0 being someone who he wasnt.
I miss Stefan 2.0, he seemed much relaxed and happier, when he wasnt ripping heads off...
Look no matter what or how bad the situation looks between Stefan and Elena atm, as a Stelena shipper, I WILL NEVER GIVE UP ON THEM GETTING BACK TOGETHER EVER. I know why I ship Stelena and know that what they had was REAL. So to all those people who think otherwise okay, but as a TRUE stelena fan, I WILL SHIP THEM FOREVER AND ALWAYS LOVE THEM AS A COUPLE. I BELIEVE THEY ARE THE TRUE LOVE (NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS AND WHOEVER REPLIES TO THIS).
if the story ending with one of the salvatore brothers human elena would have to make a choice then become human or stay a vampire
this time it going to be hard you know why because it wont be who you think cause it would be too easy to think that it stefan who
will become human .
