So don't get me wrong; I was a hard core Klaroline shipper, but now I've just accepted that it won't happen and I've moved on. I even ship Caroline with someone else now (Enzo) and I'm open to the idea of Klaus finding someone new, but I really dislike Camille's character. I feel as if the only reason she was brought in was to replace Caroline (where as in TVD the new characters had actual purpose). I think that her storylines can get quite boring, and that the writers try an force her onto so many people. I also think that if she and Klaus were to get together, it would be so out of character for Klaus, but in a bad way.
I know that there are Hardcore Camille and Klaus shipper, but I want to know your opinions (no hate or fighting please). What do you think about Camille and Klaus?
I completely and utterly disagree. And in fact, I would go so far as to say that Camille and Klaus getting together makes a million times more sense than Caroline and him being together. Even though personally, I don't really care about the shipping aspect of it either way.
First I did think she was going to be just a stand-in for Caroline, which annoyed me greatly just because I thought "oh great, we need to copy paste from The Vampire Diaries now?" but her storyline quickly become more interesting than that (exploring the effects of compulsion and what it does to a person).
Anyway, as a character, I think she's great. She's a mere human and a moral person who gets involved with the most powerful and immoral vampires in the entire world and in fact gains some degree of power over them (she can make Klaus do things she wants to do and she's on good terms with most other powerful characters too, like Davina (especially when she was regent), that's an incredible amount of power she wields for being just a human). Despite everything she knows about what Klaus does, she still hangs around him and over time she's gone from being a mere bystander and puppet, horrified by Klaus, to actively helping the originals and serving Klaus as his consigliere of sorts. As a person she's also someone who's good and empathetic, but her family history almost compels her to be involved with these things (at least from a distance). Finally, she's got a brother who killed a bunch of people, a twin, and potentially the fear that she could be capable of doing the same things. She's confronted with the horrors of the world, but continues to hold on to the idea that people are born good and that they can change. Something which Klaus needs, because he sees himself as being a monster through and through (partially due to Mikael indoctrinating him to think this). So having someone around who sees in him what he cannot see in himself but desperately wants to believe, well that makes a great deal of sense.
As a sidenote, she's also strong and loyal to a fault despite being quite vulnerable.
