Elena feels alive and takes risks with Damon, Stefan always plays it safe.

Okay so I am a 100% Stelena stan and I'm gonna tell you why. First off, can I just say that Stefan did not know what Elena looked like when he saved her. He heard the crash and immediately reacted. Damon on the other hand, took an interest in Elena because she looked like Katherine. Now, Stefan respects all of Elena's decisions. I can see why you wouldn't like that. Damon would do anything to make sure she's alive. But Elena would rather die. For instance, when Stefan saved Matt instead of Elena, she knew she would die, but she wanted Stefan to save one of her best friends. She even said that she was ready to die. Another thing is that Damon is an idiot. He reacts so violently whenever he doesn't get what he wants. He killed Elena's brother right in front of her without knowing if he was wearing the ring. If this were real life, Elena wouldn't have talked to him ever again, but she ends up with him in the end?? I know that Damon's "changed", but I don't think he did. He still reacts the same exact way and that kinda rubbed off on Elena which is partially why I hated her in seasons 4-5. When she was with Stefan she was kind and willing to sacrifice herself to save her friends. But when she got with Damon she expected everyone to do everything for her. And I don't think it's because she became a vampire. Damon influenced her to become this other person. I think this is why I stanned season 6 Elena so much. When she forgot about Damon and stuff she became a nicer person, more like how she was in the earlier seasons.

Another reason why I ship Stelena is because of season 3. Stefan literally resisted compulsion from arguably the strongest vampire in the world, just so that he wouldn't hurt her. Also, the only reason Delena was even a thing was because Stefan saved Damon's life again. Stefan went over to Klaus to get the damn blood and then he was forced to stay with him and become a ripper all over again. Rather than trying to get Stefan back, Damon started to make Elena fall in love with him. I know that when Damon gave Elena the necklace he was trying to be selfless or whatever to show Elena that she'll get Stefan back. Whatever okay. But why did Damon kiss her later in the season? Why would he do that to his brother. I don't care that Damon was in love with her and that you don't choose who you fall in love with, but why did Damon act on it??? Stefan was in love with Elena in seasons 4-5 and he did not try to get Elena back in any way because he respected her choice.
