What is your biggest problem with The Originals? If you could change anything, what would it be? If you were the new showrunner, in what direction would you have take the show?

^ You're right it does hurt the show when so many beloved characters leave but if that many actors don't want to stay on the show you have to consider what that could mean behind the scenes. And even with characters sticking to a show it does not stop terrible writing or underutilizing said characters. At the end of the day there are different factors that play into it.
^Yeah, I agree. The writing is poor. In S1, it was solid, but afterwards it really fell in quality. Thing is Julie Plec keeps making more shows or seasons based on an idea without thinking of the consequences, without having a plan. Especially in TVD, 8 seasons, 2 if not 4 of them were pure trash, they just happened. She just did them, because of money, because she didn't want to let go of the show. She does more stuff based on an idea, she makes a new season just to have more fun and extend a journey. They come up with a new 50/50 storyline for each season, and they do it. That's what I don't like. You have to have a plan. Say 5 seasons, you have ideas in your head, you do it. You don't keep making seasons. Look at TVD, such a superb show until S3, if not S4. I think another 2 seasons, because that was the contract, wouldn't hurt it much, but 4?! And the final season was embarrasingly bad, it ruined the whole show. This is for TO though. It's good that it ends now, because none of the actors really wants to be around anymore (Joseph, Daniel, Phoebe (well, she died), Charles, Claire, Nate). P.S. The fact that they let her do Legacies, is beyond me. It's gonna flop hard, canceled before season finale, simply cause no one will care.
^ Yup. The writing got progressively bad with each season. I agree about Julie having these ideas/concepts but not really thinking/planning them all the way through. Plenty of people can come up with an interesting idea but actually executing it is a whole other story. Yeah I've never even watched the last few seasons of TVD, only bits, and tbh I could never get into the show as a whole anyway. I only cared about Bonnie, Damon, and the Originals really. What's so sad is that TO did for me what TVD just couldn't do. I loved it from the start, actually cared about multiple characters and found others really interesting so it's terrible to see what it's become. You're right it's best to go now instead of being dragged along for more seasons but it's tragic that the final season can't even be an actual TO season. It just doesn't feel like TO to me. Julie was obviously so hellbent on getting another spinoff that she neglected what she already established to cater to Legacies. Yes it's insane that she got another show without even having a script and it definitely won't last a season without all the characters that people care about. I mean I have my thoughts on it but that's about Network/business talk.
My biggest problem is Hayley’s death and the witches ridiculous ceremonies
Only thing that sucks is that Klaus is always getting bettered. First Alaric then Lucien and now Marcel. And the witches always have an upper hand on vamps Freya,Dahlia,Esther,Davina,The Hollow/Inadu,Vincet,The Ancestors. The feared Niklaus Original Hybrid born a thousand years ago weaker than an history teacher, i think not
branko knows what he is talking about
the fact that Hayley and Elijah never got together I mean WHAT THE HELL?!
no one cares about Haylijah, both horrible characters, especially Hayley
how can you say that all she does is in the name of protecting hope
and all Elijah does is to protect his family and FYI I'm team Haylijah but given the turn Elijah has taken I can understand why you would say that
not horrible people, horrible characters, there's a difference in that
