Ok so you know how doppelgängers are supposed to be soulmates and there was that episode were Stefan and Elena were having dreams of a life were they were married and all that.

Ok what I don’t get is why is Stefan and Elena “soulmates” and not Tom and Elena cuz Tom and Elena are like the 21 century pairing of doppelgängers. So wouldn’t that make them “soulmates”.

I just don’t get if Stefan is Elena’s “soulmate” then who’s Tom’s “soulmate”?

Because I don’t think there were be another female doppelgänger for at least a century so what is it.
