According to Jackson, once upon a time wolves had distinct abilities. But after a while all wolves ended up with the same abilities.

My theory: I think some wolves just manifest certain abilities more naturally compared to the others. Like how Jules and Keelin can easily tell someone is or are part vampire. While others have speed. So unless they manifest their super hearing(or possibly learn how to)they probably can't in human form. 😎

Only because they have their wolf powers plus Hayley’s hybrid powers which makes them stronger so they equal in terms of physical powers which would rival a vampire

So triggered werewolves have slightly stronger hearing in human form than humans, but not strong enough to hear heartbeats.
