Linking Spell | Fandom

In Legacies, Hope linked Lizzie and Landon so if Lizzie died she would be resurrected when Landon resurrected. But in The Vampire Diaries season 3 finale Esther linked Elena and Alaric, when Elena died so was Alaric and then Elena resurrected because she had vampire blood in her system but Alaric didn’t. It’s basically the same thing, so why Alaric wasn’t come back to life?

Not every spell holds the exact same function. They're dependent on the situation, who's casting it for what purposes, etc.. Esther's purpose was to end the line of Original vampires with Alaric, once he killed the others, thus tying his life to Elena's. Lizzie's was linked to Landon so when he resurrected, so should she.

Still on linking, why didn’t they link Lizzie to a vampire, so when they got resurrected she would as well? Why wasn’t this done in other instances of the Merge?

I think it might be because Landon is still alive and not magical reanimated in a way like vampire are I don't know that's sorta my theory as to why
