So like in season 1 episode 10, we find out that josie is dead, but how exactly? It can't be the merge, because you need to be 22, lizzie was 16 in that universe, where she wished that hope was never born. I need some explaination!

It’s either heavily inferred or straight up said that Lizzie grew paranoid over the merge in that reality and ended up killing her sister.

They don’t have to be 22 for the merge to take place, it’s merely a guide line.

I know that they don't have to, but they didn't know it back then. But wow, killing josie just because she grew paranoid, that's low, even for lizzie!
