Well I do and it’s my opinion.

Yes, it is like a base, a good base. Rather I think that from any first season of a series you should not expect highly developed characters or very deep plots, or at least not in The Vampire Diaries. The first season is more like a base for the other seasons to develop, maybe that's why it is perceived as the characters a little poor or there is no big problem, it is just like an introduction, in my opinion well done because some series try to explain everything in the first chapter and that just does not work because of how abrupt it is.

Personally I think it’s the worst season it just bored me

In my opinion season one is one of my top 3

To be fair, i always used to think about season 1 this way but after my most recent rewatch, I came to appreciate that it actually has one of the best storylines and series of plot twists in the entire show

@CJMikaelson03 I have almost finished rewatching Season 1 again and I agree the start wasn’t as good as the rest of the season!!

I agree that season one wasn't the most amazing season, but i think it was to portray character development. i mean i used to not like Caroline, but her character grew SO MUCH along with Jeremy, Elena, Bonnie (in terms of fearlessness), and more.

Season one wasn’t that good. I liked Damon and stefans characters. I like how Elena hated Damon but had no choice but to trust him sometimes. I hated Vicki tho
