As much as it annoys me to make another guy with a british accent the villian, if I have to choose between him and the sphinx, ill take it cause personally I dont think we'll be getting alot of new characters next season, I could be wrong but the budget cuts cause of covid and all. Plus we're running out of key players to introduce. But I'd prefer the sphinx to be an ally of the salvatore gang and vardemus to have a dark agenda cause if brett matthews is telling the truth he said vardemus has a big story arc coming and we would have seen it in season 2 so im assuming its still on plan.

As to what his dark agenda could be, I have no clue, maybe clarke who pretened to be him got it right when vardemus wanted superiority of supernaturals over humans and vardemus plans on a species war with humans.
