To answer the post, Katherine didn't kill him. Silas did - and he got the curse (but defeated it).

Did he? Because the Irish hunter (forgot his name) said that his mission was complete because they found the cure. I’m not sure if Silas had to take before their mission being completed.

Then why didn’t Silas get the curse? Cause even though their ‘mission’ is complete, they are still hunters. Otherwise the ring would’ve brought him back to life.
