Original Vampire Compulsion

So if I remember correctly when Elijah compelled Kathrine to stay in the tomb with the rest of the desiccating vampires, she told Damon NOT to kill him or else she would be trapped in there forever and when Damon daggered him the compulsion broke

SO, Alaric was turned into a vampire by ester with the original vampire spell

NOW, when Alaric compelled Elena to forget she loved Damon, shouldn't she have remembered loving Damon after Alaric turned back into a human when jo saved him after he crossed the border ?

When he crossed the border the magic was stripped away and he didn’t die, Jo brought him back right before death. So technically the compulsion was correct to stay as the magic keeping Alaric alive was stripped away and not the compulsion magic.

She would have gotten her memories back had Alaric died, but Jo saved him. So Elena didn’t get her memories back

Technically for the compulsion to go away alaric had to die as a vampire but since he turned human again and he technically didn't die a vampire the compulsion didn't break

No sense when he was turned into a human he did not die with is what happens to an original.

That makes perfect sense.Since Alaric was recreated to kill the originals by Esther

So that's the reason, his compulsion didn't break
