Maybe it only nullified the witches of the Salvatore Boarding School and their magic specifically. I’m sure Hope Mikaelson, the Saltzman twins, Penelope Park, Alyssa Chang & the other witches made those daylight rings for the incoming vampire students. Hence their magic. Yes the vampires have magic within themselves which keeps them alive. However it’s not their specific magic. It was magic casted upon the original vampires which came from the original witch. Her magic. Since she’s not of the boarding school and their magic within it, the magic still holds. In this series, magic is kind of like a personal signature. Only that witch alone can undo their own magic. Unless you’re a siphoner or given the proper tools and resources of nature itself to undo said spell or incantation.

neutralized the magical, psychic and physical powers of each one of them, not nature, yes, they were still supernatural, the antimagic barrier of season 5 neutralized the supernatural genetic nature of the creatures, they stopped being what they were as if they make humans ordinary, at least it was that effect as if the spell was a kind of magical cure, the Legacies EP didn’t make them human again, it just temporarily blocked their powers.

It's either a "not enough power issue" or the spell simply wasnt meant to actually strip anyone of their powers. But just block it. 😎

Blocking it shouldn’t be keeping them alive. If any magic in the school is being blocked then the magic would have been cut off from the source which would be the same for the vamps. I don’t think it would just be the residents of the boarding house, there was a cloaking spell on Alaric’s shelf which no one knew of. Also the incoming witches wouldn’t be powerful enough to make daylights rings basically, keeping i. mind most them were children when they arrived at the school, and let’s say older witches did, they are long gone. I guess it’s just a plot hole.

It's not really a plot hole though. We know that turning someone from a vampire back to human isn't a easy or simple feat. Compared to keeping a witch from doing magic or disabling certain spells in play(like daylight rings or cloaking spells). Had that fountain managed to strip them of being vamps, it would have made the Travelers wanting Doppelganger blood a bit unnecessary. So they did right in just showing them disabling the vamp rings.

It is though. It should’ve killed the vamps. With the Travellers thing, they wanted to make the spell stretch across the entire world no just one house or residence and for that they needed an insane amount of blood.

Nah, they showed they needed doppelganger blood to strip vampirism away with Sloan when they used her as a guniea pig. Besides The fountain object was used to simply block out spells and a witch access to magic. While the other spell we're talking about was to get rid of certain magic indefinitely.

It never said just ‘witch magic’ this fountain was to neutralise magic within the school. You can think what you want but this is definitely a plot hole imo.

But I also said certain spells as well with a witch accese to magic. Saying it's a plot hole isn't really accurate is what I'm trying to say. Because we've seen that spells despite being in the same will house they dont work the same or operate the same way. That's all I'm saying.
