Hmm I never heard them say where the tombstone was. Also the sword was very clear you would need a Hunter AND expression bc it's NOT your typical spell. Bonnie DID NOT have Expression at that time, she had barely gained her spirit magic back.

She still had expression she never lost it she just barely to never used it after season 4. Spirit magic was gone with the other side so has zero factor in the Prison world arc.

Also needing the spell just means you need the instruction of how to undo the tomb spell. Similar to any spell. However once a witch knows the spell they don't need to constantly refer to the Manuel/Grimoire. The Mark was important because it had the instructions however Bonnie already knows the instructions because she has already done it.

Where are you getting this stuff? She was dead- no magic at all. Anchor- no magic at all. Prison World- No magic at all until provoked then it was back to just basic natural magic. ALL forms had been stripped away.

@SerenitySnow Bonnie in Season after she sends her magic away goes to Nova Scotia to get the tombstone she use to reclaim her magic. Once she does that she goes to Silas tomb and TAPS into expression and uses that to lower the tomb spell and grabs the cure.

Her being the anchor and her being dead is irrelevant to the conversation or question being asked. I don't know what more I can say or how else I can explain but that is what happened.

I just watched the episode in the prison world again where she goes to get her Gram's grimoire and she says she going to "reteach" herself magic. Basic spirit magic. So NO. She lost the other. She would have to relearn them. Also I watched again the Shane bits. He NEVER says where he got the tombstone. Which makes me wonder how Kai also found it in a snow-covered Novia Scotia.

I would have to agree with @SerenitySnow. I've watched the show several times and Bonnie did have to reteach herself basic magic. She never retaught herself that outta control Expression

@SerenitySnow Shane did tell them they even mention it when Jeremy astral Projects into the Prison world. That was explained when they came up with the plan to rescue Bonnie. Shane also mentions this in Season 4 when he explaining the Tombstone Value while they are on the island.

Also Bonnie had to regain not reteach herself magic. She already had the knowledge. I feel like you want a different answer from the show. Clearly she remembered the spell and still knew expression as she clearly dropped the tomb spell in the Prison world and got the cure. It really isn't that complicated.

@ShaelyDawn Just because she doesn't constantly perform Expression doesn't mean she doesn't know. She doesn't need to reteach herself something she already knows. Like just because I don't cook often or really ever doesn't mean I don't know how/remember how to cook.

@KnocknickKnock can you please remind me exactly where Shane said he got the tombstone and in which episode?

Season 4 episode 6 is where he is explaining the tombstone history and purpose to a group of people at an exhibit at mystic falls high. He also talks about the tombstone in 4x09,4x10, 4x11, 4x13, 4x14. He talks about how the whole thing with Silas and stuff starting while he was explore on an island on Nova scotia. This is when Silas began to Manipulate him to manipulate others. At anyone of these points would they have learned about how Shane came across the tombstone. Not to mention Silas and Qesityah talk about the whole incident with him being trapped and her dying, etc.

The group then remembers the tombstone on Novia scotia and come up with the idea that Bonnie could reclaim her magic by using the magic in the stone. They have Jeremy astral project in and draw a map to Novia scotia to remind Bonnie about the stone. This happens in episode 6x13.

Yes I know. But, he never says anything like "I found this tombstone at the bottom of the well off to the left in a hidden niche" or something. He never says specifically where he found it. That island is huge for Bonnie to search for a tombstone (Although I assume it's somewhere at the bottom of the well which many people have visited, so why wasn't it already taken? Hmm....weird.). Not to mention in some witch circles the tombstone is more valuable than the Hope diamond yet the witch that snatched Jeremy for Shane and chased him the first time he was there....wouldn't he have gotten it before Shane if it was so easily accessible and valuable?

Brings us to Kai again. Bonnie and Damon NEVER said where it was located. In fact they were even more vague. There are 3,800 islands that make up Novia Scotia aside from the mainland so in essence they told Kai nothing. "An island off Nova Scotia is a big magical battery waiting to be tapped. we just need to remind Bonnie...." -Damon (06x13). That is way too vague of a location to get Kai there AND it was winter- you can google the near impossibilities of him getting there in 1903 especially clear from Virginia. And he had no magic. Maybe a Heretic helped somehow idk. I like shows to make sense and the tombstone bit does not, sorry.
