most likely the weakness of gods is lack of magic, and witches' magic can't affect them because after villagers had access to it, they developed it in an inferior way to gods, so maybe it's not immunity just inferior magic, I would say which would be like Dahlia's magic versus Sther's magic, it's like an elder witch who's been in practice longer than a novice witch.

I just hope that the magic of the gods is not patriarchal, I deeply hope that their leader is Hecate, or Hera, Nyx any powerful goddess because if it is really a personification of Zeus all the voice of the matriarchy of witches that has existed since TVD goes just die.

I think that originally the gods we're probably just ordinary people who probably lived before the discovery of agriculture (i.e. 10000 ago) and they happen to get their hands on enough power to turn them into gods. Like these early humans could have been exposed to an energy source that has existed since the earth was formed. This would explain why they punished Ben so cruelly. Because when he gave the people of village magic he unintentionally gave the humans the same source of power as the gods. And so with this new found magic they could challenge the gods.

Id honestly just gave these gods be the original coven of witches

@Charcoal422 I also have this impression, the magic looks like that myth of the apples of Idune, or the Ambrosia/nectar of the greek gods, they had to eat these foods that gave them immortality, I think actually they are just immortal with a source of magic brute fueling them, and if they lose that magic they die or are desiccated until the magic starts circulating in their bodies again.

They are not above nature unless they were heavily nature based or nature personified the rules of magic most likely don't apply to them but the rules of magic most likely do

@BonnieandLizzieluvr what if the gods created nature or are nature itself? In both tvd and to it seemed like nature was a force that had its own will and it would punish those that broke its rules. Like it was something above the ancestors or the spirits. So maybe one of the gods is actually nature itself and it's this god that has been the governing force behind the laws of magic this whole time.

In my opinion the Gods may have a certain level of protection against certain types of spells like what Rayna Cruz had to spells that would cause her harm. And thanks to them being the first to have Magic they probably learned or gained some unique abilities. 😎

Or it could be that they are unaffected by being the first to use magic, original vampires have invulnerabilities that regular vampires don't, it could also be that nature would never make a being immune to magic if she used it as a weapon to resolve issues like Malivore, that would be recklessness.
