Bonnie becomes a vampire in season 7, to save Elena, then take the cure? Was this ever discussed?
Definitely agree, you just get to see the Legacies Universe in a different view once you watch TVD and TO and understand the significance of Klaus Mikaelson's daughter, the pregnant vampire with magical twins and the history of the Salvatore House :)
It would be something the producers haven't done though yet, I've always liked the flashbacks in TVD and TO. Especially those regarding the Mikaelsons.
Another sequel with the same magic rules, teenage drama, same modern wardrobe and same creatures and monsters would simply just be Legacies 2.0
A prequel exploring the Origins/Love/Hatred of the Original Witch and her almighty powerful Sister in the Vikings era sounds more intriguing to me.
Though I don't see that having any longevity unless they get a game of thrones budget.
There must have been some reason why both sisters knew the practice of dark arts and I doubt it was just solely to protect themselves from the Vikings. It was also never established why the firstborn of every generation was granted significant powers.
In the shows they always referenced them as Mikaelsons firstborn, although that great power comes from Esther/Dahlias bloodlines. Dahlia mentioned how she too was a firstborn, an insight into her teen life would be nice.
I believe they explicitly said "Aunt" Bonnie. Not a random person.
New Viewer gets introduced to a witch aunt/family.
Old viewer already knows they meant close family friend, not biological aunt.
The producers and writers in my opinion have done a good job introducing this universe to new fans through Legacies.
It's a simple teenage drama show about magic. With just really a lot of backstory and history, which is clearly not needed to know about in order to follow the Malivore plot.
I dont think it was ever mentioned that the twins were supposed to die but were saved by the coven. They also never said that Caroline isn't their biological mother until the bio mom episode. So logically no new fan would question it.
Again.. Its never mentioned in Legacies that Hybrids cant procreate, we (fans of the franchise) only know it bc we've watched the other two shows.
Side Note: Klaus' door to procreate was closed as soon as he had Hope, a producer/writer mentioned this on twt
Again.. Why would you as a new fan want to know the past love life of the headmaster??
Those, including the Salvatore name and the Doppelgangers are really just all excess info that bring nothing to the current monsters of the week plot. Details like the Salvatore Name and other easter eggs are only incorporated into the show to bring old fans into watching Legacies thus continuing supporting the franchise.
They brought Jeremy back and introduced him as an acquaintance of Alaric to not confuse new fans. And it worked. Nobody questioned who Jeremy was. Or what significance he had to Alaric.. I mean not even the cast themselves know, most of them have never watched any of the prior instalments.
I think the producers have made it very clear that Doppelgangers were TVD exclusive, they may get mentioned but they'll never again serve as a severe plot as they did in Tvd, in Legacies. Like Never.
So.. there's really no point in mentioning them. Even more since Nina and Paul are not interested in appearing.
Again.. why would they bring up Enzo, its a new show - who else you wanna see come back Sophie Deveraux from the Originals ?
I think I understand what you mean, but it looks like you quite havent understood that without any of the actors on TVD or TO willing to reprise their roles on the longer term, there's really no point into tying them into Legacies. Mentions are fine, pictures too. But nobody really needs to know Bonnies entire life- and lovestory when her blood is more important to the plot.
I'd honestly like a prequel to Esther and Dahlia. Different times, lots of fights with the Vikings and it seemed like both sisters did not really know how to use their powers in their teens, meaning there would not be lots of magic used, less chance for plotholes.
Also would feature no vampires, since it would focus on Esther and Dahlias relationship before the vampirism spells / even before Esther had the kids so that the original actors wouldnt have to come back.
But then again a show like that sounds kinda boring.
Dont really need to have watched TVD and TO to understand Legacies.
They hardly ever mention Alarics past (Hunter/Original Vampire/Father Figure to Elena).
Everyone knows Hope is a tribrid and her parents are dead, it been mentioned several times. Don't really need to know about Klaus the big bad dead wolf, because.. well he's dead. No threat to anybody in Legacies.
And Freya is just her Aunt.
The Twins are Alarics daughters and their mom is abroad on a quest to find a solution for the merge. They had several episodes about the Merge and bad Uncle Kai, even a whole backstory to bio mom.
Obviously a lot better if you get to watch both shows before Legacies, you get tons of background stories to those characters and a big sense of how the magic in tvdu works. I personally would advise to watch them before Legacies.
But if you just want to watch a show about magic teens then I think the writers did an amazing job, you just watch Legacies as its own show - no need for more info. Everything important is explained as the show goes, magic's rules is introduced to the viewers just like they were in TVD and TO
They've done a horrible job with continuity though, wrong time jumps, everyone missing 2 years, downplaying Hope, forgetting Hopes birthmark, always adjusting magic rules. This absolutely sucks for fans of the franchise and has let down/go a lot of loyal fans :/
Just a side note: In the Originals S2x06 in a flashback with Esther and Dahlia, Esther swears to Dahlia that if she takes Freya away, she swears "she'll return to the black arts"
That implies that Esther has used DM before the Vampirism spell.
The Damon crow thing was in majority just in the pilot, the shows producers noted that they experimented a little with vampire powers at first, later then chose to not continue with the fogs and crows.
There's different types of wood. Some splinter more than others, but yes the example you mentioned seems odd.
Considering this is a show about the supernatural, I don't think they changed a lot of rules during the show, they just adjusted them to serve the plot.
I don't think her family was one of the founding members, theres an episode in the early seasons where she talks to Carol Lockwood about how they both got married into the founding families and weren't part of the whole "vampires of mytsic falls have been a secret to the founding families for generations" scenario.
Still interested in the lore. Sure there's inconsistencies, however its fun to keep up with and theorize on your own.
I think he teamed up with alyssa, wanted to undo the link so that the prison world would collapse with everyone in it
Dark magic goes against the balance of nature,(also doesnt follow the rules of natural magic), syphoners are considered abomination of witches, witches are supposed to be the servants/balance keepers of nature, seems like dark magic is some sort of loophole for syphoners
Honestly feel like the monsters/necromancers are a whole other lore of their own haha
As stated before.. its a riddle.
It really is a tough sale. Sounds like something they obviously made up along the way, but never actually confirmed it.
I still personally like to consider it canon since it could possibly mean Stefanie carries the witch gene = supernatural = Salvatore school for the gifted
Sorry I should've given more detail. Im still new to this post thing.
What i meant was that Elenas life was linked to Bonnie in season 7.
But what if Bonnie had died with vampire blood in her system, making the spell that linked them "break" - then she'd complete the transition and then take the cure, making her human/witch again.
I remember Kai saying there was no way out of the spell and that they shouldnt try breaking it since hed make sure it would kill both of them.
But my question was does anybody remember if the possibility of Bonnie becoming a vamp to unlink her from Elena was ever mentioned or discussed on the show or on here?
Isn't it that a Werewitch loses their witch powers once they've triggered the Werewolf gene? Of course Hope being an exception.
Bonnie becomes a vampire in season 7, to save Elena, then take the cure? Was this ever discussed?
Elena technically is an untapped witch. Katherine was a traveller.
She could still be compelled as a human/doppelganger in the early seasons of tvd.
Also wasnt there a book written by Julie that was supposedly canon, it mentioned Klaus' wife who was a Werewitch hybrid.
