That’s what I’m thinking Clemmon. Because that relationship was bogus and felt fake.
How dare I? Who do you think you are exactly? Rai, Bonnie and Enzo DO NOT have chemistry. I said what I said, get over yourself. Most fans found it odd when she kissed Enzo in the psych ward. I found it odd. Zero chemistry. There was no buildup to that until Plec decided that it’s canon.
I hated Elena from season one’s jump. She’s emotionally toxic to me. How can you shut out your brother/cousin out after losing your parents? I never understood that logic.
There was so much wrong with season 6 but the big one was pacing. Switching between prison world and real world was dizzying. Plus, not really flushed out new characters, rushed storylines, rushed Red Wedding: it felt unfinished when it ended.
I already gave you the exact scenes to watch for and you ignored it. Kai literally never got a chance to do more character development and that’s the point here. It’s a very valid point that he did have a crush on her. He was around for a single full season. I said crush, never that he was in love with her. A crush can be aromantic too, like having a crush on your favorite celebrity because you love their style or their stance on things. Admiration is also a word you can use in place of crush in terms of Kai. He admired Bonnie’s sheer power because he really has none. But I think, with this logic, it developed into something more but never got fleshed out because no one wants to see Bonnie win in my opinion and the show’s writing sucks when it comes to Bonnie’s storylines.
If you want to really talk about a ship that has no chemistry or business being a ship: let’s talk Bonnie and Enzo. Bonnie has even said she would never date a vampire and suddenly she is? Yes the characters interacted briefly, but nothing about that felt romantic until we were TOLD that it was. Yeah, not buying it for a second.
You should drop this because I’m not changing my mind. I really don’t care if you agree with me or not because that’s not the point here. It is what it is.
First off, Tommy, Nina knows her character isn’t a vampire anymore. She doesn’t want to come because her character’s storyline is over and there’s really no need for her to come back anyway. Plus, she still doesn’t want to work with her ex again and I don’t blame her. But everyone knows when you do a spin-off, fans demand old fan favorite characters to reappear. Girl Meets World and The Originals are perfect examples here. In the Originals, fans wanted to see Tyler: they got their wish. Happens all the time.
Second off, plenty of ships in this universe start out with the two people being foes to each other in the beginning and something more happens to make them get together. Example: Klaus and Caroline hooked up despite the fact he almost killed her best friend, Tyler and Liv despite the fact that Liv hated him because she was protecting herself, Matt and Rebekah hooked up despite the fact she caused the car to go over the bridge and for Elena to become a vampire; Freya and Keelan were prisoner and warden straight up and now they are married with a kid by Vincent. Klaus and Camille: Klaus used Camille for his own bidding, constant compulsion and even breaking the complusion via Davina and still, they ended up kissing but it stopped there because Camille got killed off shortly after becoming a vampire. Damon and Elena even started out as foes in some way to each other in the very beginning and ended up being endgame. So for you to say I’m missing the points is deeply ironic because it’s actually you missing the points.
I really don’t care about your beliefs on romance because they are invalid right now. Just because you missed obvious signs to a ship happening doesn’t mean that they aren’t there. Just means you didn’t pay attention well enough when you should have. Other fans saw it, and in many other ships too. Don’t project your personal feelings into this.
Nina chose not to return to Legacies because she’s wrapped up other projects, same with Candice and Ian and everyone else they didn’t kill off yet. Schedules have to balance out before a contract can be drawn with actors to ensure they keep up their end.
Kai, on the other hand, may not have taken into consideration that Bonnie wasn’t forgiving him any time soon but that clearly didn’t stop him from continuing to try because he likes her. Would you give up on a crush especially if there’s really something there worth exploring? If Kai had gotten the help he needed, he could have been redeemed and a good potential romantic interest to Bonnie. Think about it: they are both witches from super powerful bloodlines regardless of Kai’s siphon status (Bonnie is related to Tessa, remember?), their families KNEW about each other (Jo referred to Sheila, Bonnie’s grandmother as a family friend and I bet you she created the prison world as a favor to Joshua and that’s why Kai needed Bennett blood to get out), and it’s fit the bad boy/good girl couple motif this couple prides itself on and they are very good foils to each other. They themselves are some of the most powerful witches in the TVD universe. Damon started out as a toxic foil to Elena’s character when she was with Stefan as a human but she goes vampire and suddenly with Damon.
Bonnie was a powerful witch from the jump and after the Expression magic episodes, got stronger because she gained control of her magic, without extensive help throughout the years from family. Yes, she got help with her grandmother but that did not last longer. Kai grew up in a family of witches.
Think about it.
Tommy, you missed the clues. Hand on my chest (biological sign of wanting to be physically close to someone because you find them attractive), checking out Bonnie’s cheerleading picture at the school right before torturing Elena, Kai visibly checking Bonnie out when he was about to kill Damon in the prison world grocery store right before she magically yeeted him, saving her from the prison world AFTER he found out about her birthday and the look on his face and the fact that he kept going even when he was close to death himself (would you risk your life for someone you didn’t like or love like cuz I sure would not), cooking her dinner, lame jokes in an attempt to flirt with her (the knife joke before entering the 1903 prison world), when he called her plucky after Bonnie got out of the prison world, drawing hearts in the window fog when he came back from hell and asking Damon if she missed him, flirting with her when they first met in the prison world. His face when talking about Bonnie on the Legacies 2 part episode! Sociopaths can feel love too, don’t get that twisted. They just have a harder time processing emotions unlike the rest of us. Background clues are everything.
Chris had confirmed this time and time again. Kat even confirmed it in an later interview that Kai feels something for Bonnie but Bonnie is unaware/doesn’t care. And that alone can create a ship for two characters. There’s a ship for Vincent and Bonnie and THEY NEVER MET IN THE ENTIRE SHOW OR ITS SPINOFFS. Don’t get me started on the Alaric and Hayley or Tyler and Hope ships either because they exist. Explain that one to me.
Also, Nina did not lie about her reasons about leaving the show. She confirmed it in multiple interviews that she was uncomfortable about working with her ex when he went off and got married to another woman so soon after their breakup. I would have quit too because that’s messed up. Even the final episode has very few scenes with her and Damon together because of that. It’s very possible when she first broke news about her leaving, she didn’t want her fans to know the whole truth but she eventually come out with it.
You can say what you want but the proof is there.
Nina’s contract stated that if she, as a main lead, leaves the show, she must show up for the finale. Nina left the show because she couldn’t handle being around her ex who played Damon because their characters were still in a relationship and that made her uncomfortable overall. That’s the real reason she left the show. I don’t blame her because that’s messed up.
Most show contracts have that as a clause in the main lead contract. It’s fascinating what you can find online about this kind of stuff. For instance, I forget the name of the show, but it was super popular in the 90s. A main lead actor quit after the second season and failed to appear for the series finale. He ended up with a huge fee for breaching the contract.
First of all, Tommy: Kai did have a crush or a thing for Bonnie. Even the actor himself confirmed that. It’s not different than any other ship. People ship characters that have no interaction with each other ALL THE TIME! Look it up if you believe me because it’s obvious you didn’t watch the show.
Yep, and that irritates me to no end, Tommy.
I truly think the opposite. He was trying to change. He knew he did stuff that he has to pay for and he was trying to change. He even helped Bonnie get out of his prison world by sending Jeremy to clue her in to Nova Scotia and the tombstone full of magic. Granted, I think he helped her because he genuinely wanted to help and he likes her in some kind of way. You don’t just do things randomly. There’s a reason behind everything.
It’s a huge plot inconsistency that’s never completely explained but that’s TVD: plot holes the size of Missouri potholes with no explanation.
I really don’t think it was mind compulsion or anything like that. I think it was a deep down soul transfer or straight up change. Kai said it himself, the Merge changes you and anyone outside of the coven doesn’t really understand how that is possible. Kai wasn’t born bad, he was just born without magic and he got shunned for that. That does stuff to you.
@Rai Zor El No, your logic is still baffling. I stand behind that. I really don’t care if you agree or not because I’m making a point. If you really don’t agree with it, stop answering the post and move on. It’s as simple as that.
@Rai Zor El You missed a point once again. He tried to apologize to Bonnie and instead, she either ignored it or trapped him in another prison world as revenge. Oh wait: both of those things happened. If we are going to follow your insane logic, Klaus is irredeemable because he killed his parents and chased a girl for her blood for centuries and killed countless people to break his curse. Damon is irredeemable because he killed a pregnant woman and forced himself on Caroline when she was human and indirectly killed Bonnie’s grandmother too by making her overload her magic during the earlier seasons. But yet, those two are redeemable. Let throw Stefan in the mix: irredeemable because he slaughtered entire villages as the Ripper and has knowingly turned off his humanity to let this side of himself loose because Caroline made him. Stefan is still redeemable. Yet Kai is irredeemable because he’s a product of his family’s abuse when he really needed help and probably to runaway from an abusive, toxic family like his twin sister got the chance too? Wow. Your logic is baffling.
Kai could have been redeemed just like Damon, Stefan and Klaus all were but he never got the chance. Why? Because the cards were stacked against him from the start. When Bonnie, a girl he LIKES by the way, didn’t want to forgive him when he was trying to change, he was like “screw that, embrace that monster that everyone thinks I already am.” However, the writing during S6 was so rushed that they cut something out and Kai’s redemption arc was it. I don’t believe he’s irredeemable myself, he just needed ONE person to believe in him enough to want to continue to try and he never got that. I actually feel terrible for Kai. He deserves better. He was a victim of abuse growing up and he never got help. That saddens me. Chris, the actor himself, even said that given a chance, Kai could be redeemed. As for sociopathy, it’s a mental illness that can be easily treated with therapy, behavior exercises and medicine. Psychopathy is also a mental illness. The problem is with both is that people THINK those affected by either one don’t get help because they don’t need it and that’s a total lie because there’s a stigma around mental health as a whole. There are people walking around you that probably have either one and they are medicated and you would never know because those people didn’t want their conditions to affect their lives and Kai needed that. I work with people that have these conditions on a daily basis and once they get the help they need and deserve, they live happy lives.
@Nomad Lord True. He messed up HARD and he deserves to do penance for that in some way. Everyone just becomes fodder at some point.
@Nomad Lord Basically yes, because she was also cheated on too. Don’t invalidate that fact.
@Becque Vesper you are right. She deserves better regardless. It’s obvious that people are trying to change your mind when you’re right.
