MIKAELSON COMPOUND-- FLASHBACK & PRESENT DAY[]
[The cold open cuts back and forth between a flashback of a therapy session between Klaus and Cami in the compound's study, and the present day, where Klaus is breaking down over Cami's blood-covered dead body, picking up right where the previous episode left off]
FLASHBACK
- CAMI: You are far more affected by this world than you care to admit. You want to control it rather than to allow it to control you. The inevitable, unavoidable parts of life make you uneasy.
PRESENT DAY
[In Klaus' bedroom, Klaus is anxiously pacing back and forth as he wrings his hands together and murmurs under his breath. Cami's body is sprawled across the bed, and the comforter is soaked in her blood]
- KLAUS: No... No...
[Klaus furiously smashes an end table and screams at the top of his lungs]
- KLAUS: NOOOOOOO! AHHHH!
FLASHBACK
[Klaus sits up, holding a tumbler of alcohol, and looks at Cami in amusement]
- KLAUS: Some might say death is inevitable, and yet here I am, a thousand years old, sipping an exquisitely aged whiskey while a beguiling muse sits across from me.
[Klaus gestures toward Cami, who smiles at him]
- KLAUS: I am the perfect picture of health and vitality, a master of my fate, a conqueror of death itself!
PRESENT DAY
[Klaus, even more distraught, begins trashing his room by flipping tables and overturning couches as he roars in grief]
- KLAUS: AHHHH! AHHHHHH!
FLASHBACK
[Cami gives Klaus a stern look]
- CAMI: See? That's exactly my point. You make some glib throwaway line about death as though it means nothing to you, but it does. If not your own, then at least the death of others.
- KLAUS: [mockingly] So, beneath the devilish banter and charming wit, Klaus Mikaelson bears the burden of a deep-seated psychological trauma about death?
PRESENT DAY
[Klaus continues to smash up his room by beating broken pieces of furniture against the walls. Eventually, he becomes so emotionally exhausted that he gasps for breath as he falls back against the wall and slides down onto the floor]
FLASHBACK
- KLAUS: I'll tell you what I know about death, Camille-- Death dances silently in everyone's shadow, and she doesn't give a damn. So... Why give a damn about her?
[Klaus sips his whiskey, and Cami gives him a skeptical look]
- CAMI: You do give a damn. Why else surround yourself with immortals if not to avoid the agony of loss?
[Klaus huffs a laugh as he sips his drink again, and Cami rolls her eyes with a sigh]
- CAMI: You disagree. Fine. I hope it's a long time before I'm proven right.
[Klaus smiles devilishly at Cami]
END FLASHBACK
PRESENT DAY
[With the room now all smashed aside from the bed and the bedside table, Klaus has returned to where Cami's body was laying and is once again cradling her in his arms as he stares at her with tear-filled eyes. Just as Klaus looks as though he's about to finally begin to deal with her loss, Cami gasps awake and grabs her throat as she looks wildly around the room. Klaus, shocked, gapes at her with wide eyes. When Cami pulls her hand away, she finds it's coated in blood and looks absolutely horrified as she meets Klaus' eyes]
- CAMI: [weakly] Klaus...?
[Klaus, whose face is still wet from crying, looks at Cami with sadness and relief as he realizes the implications of what has just happened]
TITLE CARD
MIKAELSON COMPOUND[]
[After the title card, the scene returns to Klaus' bedroom, where he wraps a blanket around Cami's shoulders as she sits on the edge of the bed. He then kneels in front of her so he can look her in the eyes]
- KLAUS: Tell me what happened.
[Cami's eyes widen when she realizes what has just occurred]
- CAMI: Aurora.
FLASHBACK—ST. ANNE'S CATHOLIC CHURCH
[Cami is transported into a flashback to the events of The Other Girl in New Orleans, when she was being held captive at Marcel's fight gym by Aurora. Aurora is standing in front of Cami and compelling her]
- AURORA: The moment he looks at you like he looked at me, the moment you know he is in love with you... You're going to do something for me.
[Aurora continues to speak in voiceover as the scene cuts to another flashback, this time from Savior, right after Klaus had fallen asleep after they had hooked up. Cami pulls out a small vial of blood and drinks it]
- AURORA: [voiceover] You will drink this blood of mine, and then you will slit your own throat and bleed out silently.
[Back in the fight gym flashback, Aurora continues her compulsion-enforced instructions]
- AURORA: You will want to cry out, but you will not make a sound.
END FLASHBACK
PRESENT DAY
[Cami becomes even more horrified when she realizes what this means]
- CAMI: She did this to me.
[Cami suddenly starts to sob, and her voice becomes even weaker]
- CAMI: I died. I'm dead.
- KLAUS: But you will not stay dead.
[Klaus' expression goes from concerned for Cami to furious at Aurora in an instant]
- KLAUS: She will pay for her actions, I swear to you--
[Suddenly, Cami doubles over in pain and groans]
- CAMI: Ahh! Ohhh, what's happening to me?
[Klaus gives her a sympathetic look]
- KLAUS: You're transitioning. You need to feed on blood soon, or you will die... This time, for good.
[Cami starts to whimper in fear and exhaustion, and Klaus affectionately rubs her arm]
[In Klaus' bathroom, Cami's shaky hand reaches out to turn on the faucets so she can take a shower. As she washes all of the blood from her death off of her body, the gravity of her transformation into a vampire becomes too much for her, and she begins to sob uncontrollably]
[In the study, Elijah has just walked into the room and has stripped off his coat as he joins Klaus by the bar, looking at his brother with concern]
- ELIJAH: How is she?
- KLAUS: [quietly] She has just risen from the dead. As soon as she feeds, her mood will change for the better.
[Klaus walks toward Elijah, and his tone turns furious as he changes the subject to their enemies]
- KLAUS: In the meantime, these attacks need to be answered! Our retribution must be swift, and it must be brutal!
- ELIJAH: [calmly] Agreed. After the Serratura has been recovered.
[Elijah sighs in frustration and throws his coat onto the chair]
- ELIJAH: Freya's pendant is also missing.
- KLAUS: [rolls his eyes] And Finn's mystical essence along with it. So let the imbecile stay lost! Our business for today is to finish off the de Martels!
[Elijah, looking even more concerned, replies softly in an attempt to calm Klaus down]
- ELIJAH: Now, brother, think. Think. Tristan needs the most powerful witch in the city to activate that weapon. A Regent.
- KLAUS: [sneers] Vincent.
[Klaus rushes toward the door to leave]
- KLAUS: Who was once possessed by Finn--
[Elijah stops him by grabbing him by the arm]
- ELIJAH: Stay here. She'll need you, brother.
LAFAYETTE CEMETERY[]
[Vincent, who is shirtless, is carrying a singing bowl full of blood to the altar in front of the Lycée. There are sigils painted on his bare chest and stomach with clay, and the altar and various tombs are surrounded in lit white candles. He flicks the bowl to make it ring like a bell twice before setting it down on the altar. Just as Vincent looks like he's about to begin, Tristan, Marcel, two other members of the Strix, and a female witch with a stripe of white in her black hair approach Vincent from behind. In Tristan's hands is Freya's talisman with Finn's spirit inside it]
- TRISTAN: I trust this won't take much longer? I'm on a schedule.
- VINCENT: [annoyed] Look, man, if you want me to activate your big, bad Serratura, you're gonna have to back up. Give me some space.
[Tristan looks over at the woman next to him, who gives him an amused look]
- TRISTAN: Or, I could always have my witch put Finn back inside of you. Have him complete the deed.
[Tristan holds up Freya's talisman, and Vincent grimaces in anger and annoyance at his threats]
- TRISTAN: I'm sure he'd be quite pleased to aid in his brothers' downfall.
- VINCENT: [sighs] I do this for you, I get that pendant.
- TRISTAN: Of course. That was the deal.
[Vincent reluctantly turns and plunges his hands into the bowl of blood as he starts to cast the spell to activate the Serratura. He pulls his hands out and rubs his bloody fingers together with his head bowed, allowing the blood to fall on the medallion]
- VINCENT: [chants] Reveye ak. Reveye moman ak trape dife. Moman ou sè prè. Tann prizonye ou.
[Vincent flicks his fingers outward, and all of the candles on the altar go out at once. He then sighs and picks up the Serratura before turning and handing it to Tristan. Vincent starts to put on his shirt and gives them a resentful look]
- VINCENT: You wanted it, you got it. Give me the pendant.
- TRISTAN: [calmly] Hold him here.
[Tristan's Strix guards walk toward Vincent, who angrily tries to lunge for Tristan, only to be held back by the men]
- VINCENT: No, no, no, no, no!
- TRISTAN: We may have use for him yet.
[The men start to pull Vincent away to another location in the cemetery as he shouts at Tristan]
- VINCENT: You really want to mess with a Tremé witch?
[As Vincent is taken away, Marcel turns and looks at him with concern. Tristan turns to address his witch and gives her the pendant]
- TRISTAN: If he acts up, place my old friend Finn back inside him.
[The witch takes the pendant and walks away to join Vincent and the guards. Marcel sighs in exasperation as he looks over at Tristan]
- MARCEL: Okay. So, you poked the witch's nest. What's your plan now?
- TRISTAN: [chuckles] Worry will be the death of you, Marcel. The rest of our plan is already in play.
[Tristan pats Marcel on the arm before he walks away]
THE BAYOU[]
[It is the next morning now, and Hayley and Jackson are in the middle of getting the rest of their belongings from the werewolf encampment to load them into Jackson's truck to bring them to their apartment]
- JACKSON: I still say we should take my dartboard...
- HAYLEY: [rolls her eyes] Your calendar girls, too? Some things are best left behind, Jack. And besides, I let you take your bow and arrow! Not exactly sure how you're going to hunt in the French Quarter, though...
- JACKSON: [smirks] Hipsters!
- HAYLEY: [chuckles] Uh-huh.
[Just then, Jackson is shot in the neck with a wolfsbane dart and groans in pain]
- JACKSON: AHH!
[Jackson falls to his knees, dropping the box in his hands onto the ground, and pulls out the dart as Hayley rushes over to him]
- HAYLEY: Jack!
[In the nearby woods, a man aims his tranquilizer gun at Hayley and shoots, but she catches the dart in mid-air before throwing it on the ground and walking toward them]
- HAYLEY: [shouts] You gonna come out of the woods, or are you gonna come out and fight?
[Aya vamp-speeds behind Hayley and stabs her in the shoulder with another wolfsbane dart, which causes her to groan in pain]
- HAYLEY: AHHH!
- AYA: [sneers] Gladly!
[Hayley's hybrid eyes come out as she spins and backhands Aya hard in the face. Jackson, recovering from his own wolfsbane dart, groans and pulls himself to his feet so he can help Hayley fight the Strix vampires. As Hayley punches Aya again in the face, Jackson growls and partially shifts into a werewolf as he lunges for another vampire, hitting him hard in the nose with the heel of his hand before punching a second, and biting a third on the neck. The second vampire comes up behind Jackson and pulls him off, but Jackson kicks the third vampire in the chest so hard he's able to back-flip out of the second vampire's grip and return to the fight. He flips the second vampire onto the ground and bites him on the wrist to weaken him before standing to his feet and looking over at Hayley, who is still fighting Aya]
- JACKSON: HAYLEY!
[When the vampires begin to overpower Jackson and inject him with more wolfsbane, Hayley gets distracted and shouts for him]
- HAYLEY: JACK!
[This distraction allows Aya to grab Hayley in a choke-hold, which gives the sniper in the woods a chance to shoot her with two more wolfsbane darts as well, and she passes out on the ground when Aya drops her]
MIKAELSON COMPOUND[]
[Cami, now fresh from the shower, is weakly following Klaus into the study. She's out of breath, and weakly leans against the door frame]
- CAMI: Ugh, the light is killing me.
- KLAUS: [smiles] You'll adjust.
[Cami stumbles into the study, visibly overwhelmed by her heightened senses]
- CAMI: Why is this music so loud? Why does everything hurt so much?
[She manages to make it to the desk and leans against it for support]
- KLAUS: As soon as you feed, your heightened senses will cease to be painful and become... euphoric.
[Instead of being comforted by this information, Cami scowls at Klaus]
- CAMI: You just assume I'm going to do it?
[Klaus' smile falls when he realizes what she's implying]
- CAMI: Feed on human blood?
[Klaus, caught off-guard, struggles to find the words to respond, but Cami cuts him off as she makes her way to the couch to sit down]
- CAMI: What did I expect? I chose to live here, right along all of you, knowing what you are. What the hell did I think was going to happen? This was only ever gonna end one way.
[Cami pauses for a moment before speaking]
- CAMI: I deserve this.
[Klaus looks horrified by Cami's emotional state]
- KLAUS: No one deserves this! Not unless they choose it, and some of us don't have that choice. We just have to survive what is forced upon us.
- CAMI: [sadly] But I do have a choice. I can choose not to feed.
[Klaus' eyes widen in alarm and fear]
LAFAYETTE CEMETERY[]
[Vincent is still in the cemetery and staring at Tristan's witch, who is standing with Freya's talisman in her hand as a reminder to Vincent not to try to escape. The witch has long strings of puca shells around her neck and wrists and is wearing a black scarf around her head to accent her black and white hair]
- VINCENT: Hmmm. You're an Obi witch, right? Older sect, too, with all that show you got going on.
- OBI WITCH: [angrily] Do not speak to me.
[Vincent makes a face and mockingly covers his mouth with his hands, but it's clear he's not at all afraid of her]
- VINCENT: You're powerful witches. Proud people. And rightly so, from what I understand. You don't usually bow down to anybody!
[The witch stares at Vincent with a hard expression as he stops leaning against one of the tombs and walks toward her]
- VINCENT: Your ancestors must be turning in their graves right now--
[Vincent does a little dance to indicate he thinks she's a vampire's servant]
- VINCENT: Watching you runnin' around here, doing a vampire's business.
- OBI WITCH: [furiously] I said do not talk.
- VINCENT: [shrugs] I heard you! I just have to know... What does it feel like to be a backstabbing traitor?
[The witch walks up so that she and Vincent are face-to-face, but one of the Strix guards stands up and pulls the witch backward away from him]
- STRIX GUARD: Stay on task.
[Taking advantage of their distraction, Vincent flicks his wrist, causing an angel statue to fall off of the top of the nearby tomb and onto the vampire's head, disorienting him and causing him to fall to the ground. When the second guard rushes toward Vincent, he uses his telekinesis to break off a wrought-iron fence pike and shoots it toward him, impaling him in the chest and causing him to fall to the floor. The witch looks as though she's about to fight back by holding Freya's talisman in the air, but Vincent is too fast-- he casts a pain infliction spell on her by waving his hand in front of her face, and she's brought to her knees in agony as she drops the talisman onto the ground. Blood starts to pour from the witch's eyes, nose, and mouth as she whimpers in pain]
- VINCENT: This is for your ancestors!
[Vincent flicks his fingers in front of her face, and the witch screams at the top of her lungs in pain before she keels over, dying from the hex he just cast]
- VINCENT: May they judge you harshly.
[Vincent stands to his feet, only to find that the vampire he impaled with the pike has recovered and is ready to give payback. He grabs Vincent by the wrist and breaks his arm before raising the pike to stab him with it. Fortunately, Elijah appears out of nowhere and rips the vampire's heart out from behind before he can kill Vincent. Vincent sighs in relief and falls back onto his elbows as Elijah pulls out a handkerchief and cleans off his hand as he takes in the carnage that Vincent has just wrought]
- ELIJAH: Vincent! We should chat.
[Elijah steps over him, causing Vincent to realize he's heading right for Freya's talisman, which is still laying on the ground where the witch dropped it. Vincent groans and tries to crawl over to grab it first, but he's too late]
- VINCENT: No!
[Elijah picks up the pendant and looks Vincent in annoyance]
CAMI'S APARTMENT[]
[Cami and Klaus have just returned to Cami's apartment, and she silently and sadly looks around the room. She sees a stack of unopened mail on the table, and gingerly picks the top envelope off of the stack and looks at it for a moment before she sets it back down again. Klaus looks at Cami with concern as he watches her look around her home, eventually making her way to the nearby shelf, where a framed photograph of Cami and Kieran after she graduated from college sits next to a stack of books. She picks the photo up and looks at it sadly for a moment]
- CAMI: Oh, I miss him. He just wanted me to be happy. Get married, have a few kids...
[Cami realizes that regardless of whether she dies or becomes a vampire, kids are no longer in her future, and becomes even more depressed]
- CAMI: I guess the great O'Connell family line endeth here.
[Klaus looks at her sadly, but seems unable to find the right words to say, so he remains silent]
- CAMI: You know... I never really got, uh... the comfort he got from his faith. But right now, I wish I believed in an afterlife.
- KLAUS: [smiles weakly] Vampirism is, by definition, an afterlife...
- CAMI: [tearfully] Which one is it, Klaus? Heaven, or Hell?
LAFAYETTE CEMETERY[]
[Vincent is sitting on the ground of the cemetery, leaning back against the wall of one of the tombs, while Elijah impatiently paces around in front of him, still holding Freya's talisman in his hand]
- VINCENT: Look. I don't know what to tell you, man. You want your big, bad Serratura, you're gonna have to go after Tristan because he took it with him after he forced me to activate it.
- ELIJAH: So deactivate it.
- VINCENT: I couldn't even if I wanted to, and just for the record, I'm all done with vampire demands for the day. Push me and see what happens.
- ELIJAH: You don't want to see what happens. My family's in jeopardy, you're responsible.
- VINCENT: That's on you, man! If Tristan didn't have the pendant, then he wouldn't have any leverage over me.
[Elijah holds up the pendant, and Vincent sighs as he realizes that the Mikaelsons can now use it as leverage against him in the same way]
CAMI'S APARTMENT[]
[Cami is in the middle of throwing away some dead flowers from a vase when she suddenly doubles over and groans as she leans against the table]
- CAMI: Ugh...
- KLAUS: [gently] The longer you wait, the more you'll suffer.
[Cami, clearly overwhelmed by everything that is happening, tries her best to make jokes to distract herself from the reality of her situation]
- CAMI: You know, I think it's better this way. I mean, look at me. I'm gonna make a super hot corpse, right? Perfect for an open casket.
[Klaus blanches at this glib comment and frowns]
- KLAUS: Camille...
- CAMI: [cuts him off] I want my wake to be at Rousseau's. I want it to be epic. An open bar, and dancing, and no one cries, or I come back and I poltergeist the hell out of--
[Klaus, visibly hurt by Cami's words, interrupts her]
- KLAUS: Stop it! I will not entertain this kind of talk any longer. You must feed.
[Klaus walks toward her and looks her straight in the eyes]
- KLAUS: I need you.
- CAMI: [annoyed] This is not about you. This is about me. I like who I am! I've spent my entire life being this exact version of sane, and if I turn, if I become a vampire... I don't know what I'll be. I don't know who I'll be.
- KLAUS: I know. I know you'll be an extension of the person you are now. You'll be strong, and... and understanding, and brave...
- CAMI: [interrupts him] No. You don't know me! You think you know me, but you don't. There is a darkness inside of everyone, Klaus. What if mine takes over?
- KLAUS: I won't let it.
- CAMI: [frustrated] You can barely contain your own darkness! It is better I die as someone I'm proud of than live as someone I despise.
- KLAUS: [horrified] No! It's better a flawed life lived than wasted rotting in clay! It's not gonna happen. Not to you.
[Cami, still frustrated by Klaus' arguments, sighs and pauses for a moment before reaching up and cupping Klaus' face with her hands]
- CAMI: Hey. I'm not gonna feed, alright? So, you can either respect that, or we can spend the last... couple of hours we have together in a screaming match.
[Klaus is speechless as a result of this decision, and after a moment, Cami lets go of his face and walks away]
COLTRANE'S AUTO SHOP[]
[Hayley wakes up, covered in blood and bruises, to find that she and Jackson have been chained up in the back of an auto shop. They're sitting in chairs with their wrists shackled, and behind them are IV bags filled with clear fluid. Hayley immediately begins to break through her restraints to save them, but Jackson, who awakened before her and whose face is beaten and bloodied as well, weakly tries to stop her]
- JACKSON: [quietly] I tried that. I tried that. The more you struggle, the more wolfsbane gets pumped into your veins.
[Hayley looks back and realizes that their shackles are hooked up to IV lines inserted into their veins, and that the IV bags behind them are full of wolfsbane-laced water. When Hayley looks down at the floor, she sees that Jackson's pant leg is stained red, and that a huge puddle of blood surrounds his foot on the floor]
- HAYLEY: Jack, your leg. Are you okay?
- JACKSON: Yeah, they worked me over pretty good. With all the... the wolfsbane in my system, I ain't healing so well.
- HAYLEY: [anxiously] Just breathe. When we get a chance to fight, be ready.
[Jackson gives Hayley a sadden look as she continues to try to break free of her chains, despite the increasing amounts of wolfsbane being infused through her body]
- JACKSON: Hayley. Hayley, listen. I don't know if I'm gonna get that chance--
- HAYLEY: [cuts him off] Stop. We are gonna get out of here, Jack.
- JACKSON: I love you. Okay? I've... I've always loved you.
- HAYLEY: [scared] Don't--
- JACKSON: When I first saw you, I broke. You broke me, and nothing has ever been the same since. I just want you to know that it was all real. Every moment, every touch, every word.
[Hayley looks devastated by how defeated Jackson sounds just as Tristan walks into the room]
- TRISTAN: How absolutely darling! Or pathetic. I suppose it's all relative.
[Hayley glares at Tristan with hatred and continues to try to break out of her restraints as he walks toward them]
- HAYLEY: You let us out of here, or so help me, I will kill you!
- TRISTAN: [rolls his eyes] Hmmm. Somehow, I doubt it. I've been pondering this moment since you tortured me--
[Hayley tries even harder to break out of her shackles as Tristan stands next to Hayley and stares at her]
- HAYLEY: UGH!
- TRISTAN: [ignores her] --What's the best way to truly hurt a hybrid? And then it came to me.
[Just then, Tristan grabs Jackson by his hair and yanks his head back so he can plunge his hand into Jackson's chest at vampire speed, causing Jackson to groan in pain as Hayley screams at the top of her lungs]
- JACKSON: UGH!
- HAYLEY: No! NO!
[Tristan rips out Jackson's heart, killing him, and Hayley becomes hysterical with fury and grief, desperately trying to break out of her shackles to kill him]
- HAYLEY: AHH! NO! NO! AHHH! AHHHH! AHHHH!
[Tristan lets go of Jackson's head and stares in satisfaction as Hayley continues to scream hysterically]
- HAYLEY: AHHHHHHHHHHH!
MIKAELSON COMPOUND[]
[Elijah and Vincent have just returned to the courtyard of the compound, where they find a horrified Freya clutching her chest with one hand and a piece of parchment in another. She's staring at a small, cream-colored box on the table when Elijah, immediately sensing something is wrong, rushes over to her. Vincent, not sure what to expect, hangs back]
- ELIJAH: [concerned] Freya? What's happening?
- FREYA: [tearfully] A messenger came. Some compelled tourist. He left this...
[Freya, whose face is covered in tears, gestures toward the box on the table, and Elijah, both concerned and suspicious, gently lifts the corner of the lid to the box while Vincent watches from behind. When Elijah sees the bloody heart inside, he immediately shuts the lid and takes a deep breath to prepare for what he's about to learn]
- ELIJAH: Who?
- FREYA: Jackson.
[Elijah closes his eyes and sighs for a moment, overwhelmed by this news. Freya holds up the letter in her hand, which has a message handwritten in print]
- FREYA: Courtesy of the Strix.
[Freya sighs and sits on the couch as Elijah takes the letter and begins to read its contents: "Dearest friends, please find enclosed the heart of Jackson. Hayley's will follow unless you meet me at Coltrane's Autoshop, 1268 Adderly in the ninth. Kind regards, Tristan." Elijah sighs, exhausted by the shocks he's received today]
- ELIJAH: So, unless we meet their demands, Hayley will be next.
[Elijah looks furious as he begins to brainstorm their plan]
COLTRANE'S AUTO SHOP[]
[Hayley, who is still sobbing after Jackson's death, has been left alone in the room with his body, which is still sitting chained up in the chair next to her. She looks over at him and is overwhelmed with grief once again]
- HAYLEY: [tearfully] Jack, I'm so sorry. I never should have brought any of this into your life. I was so selfish. I never met anyone who was always just there for me. You let me feel what it is to be loved.
[Hayley becomes choked up and begins to sob again before she continues]
- HAYLEY: But I will make them suffer for this, I promise you. I will make all of them suffer.
MIKAELSON COMPOUND[]
[Klaus has just dragged Cami back to the compound, where he has shoved her into the study, though she struggles against him]
- CAMI: Let go of me!
- KLAUS: [sighs] I'm afraid I don't have time to be delicate.
[Klaus lets go of her and walks away, but when Cami rushes to follow him, she's thrown backward by an invisible barrier]
- CAMI: [annoyed] What the hell?
- KLAUS: I had Freya create a boundary spell.
[Cami only becomes more furious at this answer]
- CAMI: Klaus--
- KLAUS: I'm off to save the mother of my child, and to do so, I must face those with a distinct advantage. I cannot wage war if I am worried about you, and I will not entertain any thought of letting you die.
- CAMI: [growls] You have no right to do this!
- KLAUS: I will be back long before you starve. In the meantime, if the pain should get too great, I suggest you stop this foolishness and feed.
[Klaus gestures toward the coffee table, where a wine glass full of blood has been left for her]
- KLAUS: Type O-negative. Just a hint of copper aftertaste. Trust me, you'll learn to love it.
[Klaus once again turns to leave, but Cami, furious by what he's done, shouts after him]
- CAMI: This is the same as force-feeding me!
[Klaus ignores her, but Cami continues to yell at him]
- CAMI: Klaus! If you care about me at all, you won't do this. I will never forgive you.
[Klaus turns to look at her and sighs sadly, making it clear that he isn't really enjoying it]
- KLAUS: I'm just going to have to risk you never forgiving me. I'll never forgive myself if I let you die.
[Klaus turns and walks out the door, leaving an angry and betrayed-looking Cami behind]
- CAMI: No!
[In the living room, Klaus has just joined Elijah, Freya, and Vincent so that they can begin to set up their plan of attack against the de Martels]
- KLAUS: Two Original vampires and two powerful witches against an army of miscreants? I'm rather looking forward to it.
[Vincent gives Klaus an exasperated look]
- VINCENT: Keep in mind that I'm mortal, and, as much as I want these guys out of my city, I like breathing. So, let me go to the covens. I can propose an alliance. They hate you guys, but if I explain what's going on...
- ELIJAH: There's no time.
- FREYA: There never is. But, before we rush into battle, let's keep in mind that Tristan may be the very foe to lead you to your doom. Isn't this exactly what the prophecy foretold? Rebekah's on the run. I will not lose the two of you, as well.
[Elijah looks momentarily uncomfortable, but quickly covers it up]
- ELIJAH: Rebekah's safe.
[He looks over at Klaus hesitantly]
- ELIJAH: Brother, perhaps you should stay...
- KLAUS: [scoffs] And what kind of father would I be if I didn't fight for the mother of my child? No, I have no intention of being outmaneuvered by Tristan de Martel, of all people.
- VINCENT: Intention's got nothing to do with it. As long as Tristan de Martel has the Serratura and your baby's mama, the advantage is all his.
- FREYA: Well, then we should take that advantage from him.
[Freya turns to Klaus with a knowing smirk]
- FREYA: I'm gonna need something that belonged to his sister.
BACK ROADS OF NEW ORLEANS[]
[Aurora is dozing in the backseat of an SUV when she suddenly stirs awake. She notices the Strix associate of Tristan's sitting next to her, but before she can ask what they're doing, the vampire injects her in the neck with a prefilled syringe of medication that makes her groggy and sedated. She groans in pain and rubs her throat before passing out again. After a moment, the Strix guard and driver see that Vincent is standing in the middle of the road ahead of them. Vincent opens his arms wide and casts a spell]
- VINCENT: [chants] Sispann la agresè.
[In the SUV, the guard turns to address the driver as he keeps his eyes on Vincent]
- STRIX GUARD: Run him down.
[The driver nods and presses down the gas pedal to go faster, but after Vincent watches them for a moment, he twists both of his wrists inward, causing the SUV to violently flip over and roll down the road at least a dozen times. Once the vehicle finally loses momentum right next to where Vincent is standing, the Strix guard and driver groan in pain as they kick open the doors to pull themselves out. The Strix vampires then start to walk toward Vincent menacingly as they pop their broken bones back into the correct positions, but before they can even try to lunge for Vincent, Elijah appears and stakes them both in the heart simultaneously. Elijah doesn't even watch as the vampires collapse and die, he simply shrugs and buttons up his pea coat while Vincent looks at him with an impressed expression]
- VINCENT: Nice timing!
[A furious Klaus has just pulled Aurora out of the wreckage of the SUV, and she looks up at him with a smile, still high and dazed on the sedative she was given a few minutes earlier and unable to stand on her own two feet]
- AURORA: Oh, my love. I knew you'd find me.
[Aurora strokes Klaus' face, but he just scowls at her hatefully before dragging her away]
MIKAELSON COMPOUND[]
[Freya walks into the spare bedroom, where she finds an angry Cami sitting on the couch, staring intensely at the glass of blood on the coffee table]
- FREYA: [softly] Hello, Camille.
- CAMI: [annoyed] What do you want? Have you come to gloat?
[Freya sits down on the bed and looks at Cami kindly]
- FREYA: Actually, I'm quite sympathetic to your plight. I was once denied the right to die with dignity. I grew to hate the one who took that choice away from me. So, if you have decided to die? So be it.
[Freya waves her hand, breaking the boundary spell. Cami looks surprised at this reaction, though she quickly rushes past the remnants of the salt barrier in case she changes her mind]
- CAMI: [appreciatively] Thank you. All things considered, that's the nicest thing anyone's done for me all day.
[Cami is about to leave when Freya stops her]
- FREYA: As you prepare for what's to come, I would offer you another choice.
[Cami looks at her in confusion]
- FREYA: You can starve alone, or you can choose to risk what remains of your life to help me.
[Cami still seems confused, but she appears to be intrigued by this offer]
BACK ROADS OF NEW ORLEANS[]
[Tristan, Aya, and Marcel have just arrived to the site of the SUV crash, where they find the dead bodies of the Strix members outside of the car and see that Aurora nowhere to be found. Just then, Tristan's phone rings, and when he sees it's Klaus, he scowls as he answers it]
- TRISTAN: If you touch a hair on her head--
[Tristan is surprised when Elijah, not Klaus, cuts him off on the other end of the line, as the scene cuts to the warehouse where Elijah is watching Klaus load up a metal shipping container with a chair inside]
- ELIJAH: I'll do my best to restrain my brother, Tristan, but you and I both know that he can be impossibly savage when he wants to be.
- TRISTAN: [growls] State your terms.
- ELIJAH: You'll meet us at Patrick's Dock, the warehouse. We exchange Aurora for Hayley and the Serratura. Oh, Tristan? I would make it snappy. Unless, of course, you want Niklaus to eviscerate that poor girl.
[Elijah hangs up without another word, and Tristan looks absolutely furious as he processes this turn of events. He then turns to address Aya, who doesn't look pleased either]
- TRISTAN: Go retrieve that filthy cur. Double the dosage of wolfsbane. Make certain she suffers.
[Marcel looks concerned about this order, but when he interjects, Aya glares at him]
- MARCEL: Now, hold up. Maybe we should think this through, huh?
- TRISTAN: [coldly] I already have. The Mikaelsons want to make a deal, so I'll give them exactly what they want. And, once I know Aurora is safe, I'll order the Strix to descend en masse.
[Tristan pulls the Serratura out of the front pocket of his slacks and holds it up]
- TRISTAN: Before the night is over, we will seal them away for all time.
[Marcel continues to look worried about this plan, but it is clear that Tristan is intent to see it through]
ST. LOUIS CATHEDRAL / PATRICK'S DOCK[]
[At the ST. LOUIS CATHEDRAL, Freya and Vincent are in the bell tower, where they are setting up for a spell. On the tables and candleabrums, Freya has arranged hundreds of lit white candles. In front of them, she has a stone cauldron full of blood and a variety of animal bones scattered around the candles. In her hands is a large burlap poppet with a strand of blonde hair pinned to the top, and Vincent looks at it and her with a wary expression]
- VINCENT: You think this is gonna work?
- FREYA: [nods nervously] You are a Regent to the city filled with the power of your ancestors. I can channel you, add your power to mine, and then we'll see.
- VINCENT: [sighs] Fair enough.
[Vincent clutches Freya's right hand so she can channel him while she holds the poppet in her left. They then begin the spell]
- FREYA & VINCENT: [chants] Kache l'nan san. Jen chèch je yo.
[As they chant, Freya dips the "legs" of the poppet into the cauldron of blood]
[At PATRICK'S DOCK, Elijah and Klaus are waiting inside of the warehouse when a half-dozen Strix vampires vamp-speed into the room. The brothers start to walk toward them as another few dozen or so vampires join them]
- KLAUS: Here they come.
[Finally, Tristan, Aya, and Marcel stop several feet away from the Mikaelson brothers, looking displeased as they all stare at each other]
- TRISTAN: Gentlemen. I wish I could say it was a pleasure.
[Klaus nods in acknowledgement and gives Marcel a knowing look]
- KLAUS: Marcellus. Made your bed with the enemy, I see.
- MARCEL: [smiles fakely] Membership has its privileges.
- KLAUS: [smirks] Let's get on with this, shall we?
[Tristan turns back to a tall, blonde vampire woman and nods, so she and other male vampire bring the still-bloodied and shackled Hayley forward. She's so weak she can't even stand on her own, and when the vampires let go of her, she collapses onto the floor in between the two groups as Elijah and Klaus stare at her in horror]
- TRISTAN: Hayley Marshall-Kenner, only slightly worse for wear. You'll have to forgive her if she seems a bit off. There's enough wolfsbane in her system to kill an entire pack. However, here she is, as requested. Now, where's my sister?
- KLAUS: [sneers] She lives. You can thank Elijah for that.
[Klaus walks toward Tristan so they're standing eye-to-eye]
- KLAUS: I wanted to flay her and hang her skin as a flag. Anyway, enough chit-chat. Let's conclude this tedious business, shall we?
- TRISTAN: My sister first. And, if you're tempted to argue, consider the numbers.
[Klaus smirks in amusement and walks even closer to him so that their noses are nearly touching, indicating that he's not threatened by his army. Tristan looks slightly nervous, but stands his ground. After a moment, Klaus rolls his eyes and walks over to a rusty green shipping container, which he opens to reveal Aurora sitting inside with a black hood over her head and her wrists bound behind her back. Tristan, still suspicious, turns back to Aya]
- TRISTAN: If they try anything, attack.
[Aya nods in agreement, and Tristan vamp-speeds into the shipping container toward Aurora. He takes off her hood, and her head rolls on her shoulders, still sedated from the drugs earlier. When Tristan looks back at Aya, Aya nods at the vampires standing guard over Hayley, allowing Klaus and Elijah to take her. Aurora wakes up when Tristan starts to break her bonds and smiles at him weakly]
- AURORA: Oh, brother, you came for me.
- TRISTAN: [smiles] Always.
[Tristan stands once he's finished and pulls Aurora to her feet, and she wraps her arms around him in a hug]
- TRISTAN: Come on. Come on.
[While they're hugging, Aurora reaches into Tristan's pants pocket and pulls out the Serratura. As soon as she has it, she yanks herself out of his embrace. He looks at her warily when he sees the medallion in her hand, and slowly reaches out to take it from her, not knowing what she's trying to do]
- TRISTAN: Rory...? What are you doing?
[Before Tristan can react further, Aurora slams the Serratura against the wall of the shipping container, which activates its power and causes the warehouse to shake for a moment as though an earthquake has just hit. The medallion remains stuck to the wall, and Aurora looks at Tristan with crazed eyes as Tristan, realizing what has just happened, tries to run out of the shipping container and is blocked by an invisible barrier. Tristan looks at Aurora in horror]
- TRISTAN: No... Aurora... What have you done to us?
[At ST. LOUIS CATHEDRAL, Freya and Vincent continue to cast their spell with the poppet]
- FREYA & VINCENT: [chants] Kache l'nan san. Jen chèch je yo.
[Back at PATRICK'S DOCK, Aurora looks smug as she walks toward Tristan]
- AURORA: Not to us... To you.
[Much to Tristan's horror, Aurora walks right past the barrier and joins Elijah, Klaus, and Hayley outside of it]
[At ST. LOUIS CATHEDRAL, Freya and Vincent sense that she has passed the barrier, which causes Vincent to take the lock of blonde hair off of the poppet and setting it on fire with a candle flame]
- FREYA & VINCENT: [chants] Kache l'nan san. Jen chèch je yo.
[At PATRICK'S DOCK, Aurora turns so she can face Tristan, but suddenly, a magical haze covers her before it is revealed that it was actually Cami the whole time, and Vincent and Freya just used a glamouring spell to make her appear to be Aurora instead. Tristan stares at them with a look of cold fury from inside the shipping container]
- TRISTAN: What is this?
- CAMI: You know what they say-- payback's a bitch.
- TRISTAN: [horrified] How is this possible?
- KLAUS: [smugly] The Serratura creates an impenetrable boundary. Nothing living or dead can pass through.
- CAMI: And, thanks to your lunatic sister, I'm neither.
[Tristan's eyes widen in alarm when he realizes that he is truly trapped inside of the shipping container forever]
- TRISTAN: No. No. NO!
[Klaus rushes over to Cami and puts his arm around her before quietly murmuring in her ear]
- KLAUS: Stay close to me, okay?
[Tristan stares at the Strix vampires, who don't seem to know what they should do]
- TRISTAN: What are you waiting for? Take them! Now!
[Just as the Strix are about to obey this command, Elijah steps forward to address them himself, putting his body protectively in front of Hayley, who is still barely standing on her feet]
- ELIJAH: Before you rush headlong toward almost certain death... As your sire, I would like you to employ just a little bit of common sense.
- AYA: [scoffs] We are ancient vampires, Elijah-- each of us almost as strong as you.
- ELIJAH: [shrugs] You might almost be successful in subduing us, but at what price? Most of you will die in the process, and for what? To avenge a fool marching you headlong toward your very extinction in the name of a witch's prophecy? You do realize he engineered absolutely all of this purely to satisfy some petty grievance against my family?
[Elijah turns and walks toward the shipping container, smiling fakely at Tristan as he leans against the metal door]
- ELIJAH: Tristan doesn't care for any of you.
- TRISTAN: [furiously] Stop listening to him!
[Elijah ignores him and continues]
- ELIJAH: The only danger here is the choice that you must make. You see, I am not your enemy.
[He stops in front of Aya and nods in acknowledgement]
- ELIJAH: It's true, I delivered you into this existence. I can just as easily pluck you out of it. The choice is yours to make.
[Aya looks torn, but continues to glare at Elijah as though she's entertaining the idea of fighting them anyway. Marcel, seeing what she's about to do, walks over and blocks her way as he whispers in her ear]
- MARCEL: It's done. The moment has passed. Be smart, Aya. Smarter than Tristan. Don't waste any more of our guys.
[Aya doesn't seem pleased that Marcel is ordering her around, but after a moment, she turns back to the rest of the vampires]
- AYA: Stand down.
[Tristan only becomes more furious to see that the Strix have been convinced not to avenge him]
- TRISTAN: You will not abandon me!
[Aya walks toward where Tristan is trapped in the shipping container and gives him a regretful look]
- AYA: It's a shame it has to end like this.
- TRISTAN: [enraged] Aya, this isn't over!
[Aya puts her right hand over her heart in a sort of salute to her former leader]
- AYA: [coldly] May the ghosts of our fallen keep you company.
[The Strix then begin to leave the warehouse, Aya included, though Elijah and Hayley stay behind. Tristan continues to shout after them]
- TRISTAN: Aya. Aya! AYA!
[After the break, Klaus sees Cami walk away and chases after her]
- KLAUS: Where are you going?
[Cami ignores him and continues walking, though it's clear that she's becoming weaker by the moment as she wobbles on her feet]
- KLAUS: [frustrated] Are you so eager to die?
[Cami rolls her eyes, but doesn't turn around]
- CAMI: [rolls her eyes] I'm already dead.
[Klaus continues to follow her despite knowing she's still mad at him]
- KLAUS: Well, at least let me thank you.
[Cami finally stops walking and turns to face him]
- CAMI: Do not mistake me helping your family with forgiveness for what you tried to do! My choice in this is the only thing I have left, and no one is taking that away from me. You need to get that.
[She turns to walk away again, but Klaus vamp-speeds in front of her to block her way, and she sighs in annoyance as he pleads with her]
- KLAUS: Camille, I'm begging you. Don't leave me.
[Cami gives Klaus a look and continues walking, but when Klaus attempts to follow her again, he's stopped by Elijah, who looks sympathetic to his situation but wants to keep Klaus from ruining their relationship]
- KLAUS: I won't let her die.
- ELIJAH: [sighs] If you care for her, you will let her choose.
[Klaus, annoyed, swats Elijah's hand away from him and jerks out of his grip]
- KLAUS: I will not lose her because of your stupid principles!
- ELIJAH: Allow her the dignity of this choice, Niklaus. You force her, you lose her forever.
[Klaus gulps anxiously, and Elijah gives him a serious look before he continues, tapping Klaus on the chest for emphasis]
- ELIJAH: We finish this.
[The Mikaelson brothers, along with the slowly healing Hayley, walk over to the shipping container to talk to Tristan, who seems resigned to his fate]
- TRISTAN: So, this is to be my end?
[Elijah smiles at him patronizingly, and Klaus smirks as he leans against the door of the container. However, Hayley continues to scowl at him with hatred and fury]
- ELIJAH: No, no. This is the very beginning! You are going to the bottom of the ocean, where you will drown in darkness again and again and again over the course of centuries.
[As Elijah speaks, a tear rolls down Hayley's cheek as she remembers how Tristan killed Jackson]
- ELIJAH: [gleefully] This will be your splendidly horrific and perpetual end.
- TRISTAN: [anxiously] What have you done with my sister?
- KLAUS: [smiles wider] Nothing... yet. But, I assure you, her death will be spectacular.
[Tristan looks even more worried now, but when Elijah and Klaus go to close the door, Hayley stops them]
- HAYLEY: Wait.
[She walks forward so that she can look Tristan straight in the eye]
- HAYLEY: You took a very good man from this world. He will be with me forever, but you? You will be forgotten. And as you rot in the ocean, remember my face.
[She reaches over to grab the shipping container door and begins to close it]
- HAYLEY: [coldly] Because it's gonna be the last one you ever see.
[Hayley slams the door shut with a loud bang]
LAFAYETTE CEMETERY[]
[Cami, looking pale and weak, puts a bouquet of calla lilies at her twin brother Sean's grave and stares at it for a long moment until Vincent arrives, looking somber]
- VINCENT: Got your text. It's a funny place to have a chat.
- CAMI: [weakly] Hmm. Hilarious. A dead girl leaving soon-to-be-dead flowers at her dead brother's grave. It's just another pointless ritual in a pointless life.
[Vincent looks sad to hear Cami so defeated, and pauses for a moment before he responds]
- VINCENT: I know what you're going through.
[Cami gives him a skeptical look, and Vincent shifts uncomfortably]
- VINCENT: I... Look. As pointless as you think your life is, there are people out there right now-- right now... Davina, Kinney, hell, even Klaus-- who know better.
[Tears fill Cami's eyes]
- CAMI: Well, you don't need to give a speech. I called you hear because you've been a friend. And I figured you wouldn't be judgey, no matter what I choose.
- VINCENT: No way. I'm the last person to be judgey. My life is messed up as it is. But, uh, I will say this-- as crazy is the world is with the monsters and the lunatics running around... It's still a better place with you in it.
- CAMI: You know, I did something today. I risked my life fighting one of those monsters. It felt good.
- VINCENT: [chuckles] Yeah, I know that feeling. It's amazing what happens when you stop fighting what you are.
- CAMI: My uncle was really big into doing the right thing. Wanted to help the people, fix the city...
[Cami takes a deep breath before she continues]
- CAMI: Maybe... if I stuck around, I could... continue what he did. If I was a vampire, I would have the strength to make a difference. Of course, I would have to feed...
[Vincent, realizing what Cami is suggesting, pulls out a pocket knife and takes a deep breath before slicing open his wrist. The sight and smell of the blood seems to overwhelm Cami, and she's unable to stop looking at it as he offers his wrist to her, though he does look wary]
- VINCENT: Are you sure about this?
[Cami shakes her head as she reaches out and takes Vincent's wrist and pulls it closer to her mouth]
- CAMI: Not in the slightest.
[Cami is unable to resist the blood in front of her, and immediately begins feeding on Vincent's wrist. Vincent hisses in pain while she moans in pleasure, but he doesn't pull away. After a moment, Cami's eyes become blood red as the blood vessels around them darken, completing her transition into a vampire]
MARCEL'S LOFT[]
[Marcel has just put on a jazz record on his record player, and he closes his eyes to enjoy the music for a moment before he pours himself a drink at the bar. Just then, an amused Elijah walks in the front door. Marcel doesn't even turn to look at him, he just pours a second drink]
- MARCEL: Back inside enemy lines, huh?
- ELIJAH: [smiles] I hardly think we're enemies, Marcellus. I know where your loyalties lie.
[Marcel finally turns to face Elijah and hands him a drink with an apologetic expression]
- MARCEL: If I had known that they were gonna go after Hayley, I would have warned you.
- ELIJAH: [kindly] I know. Thank you.
- MARCEL: And, speaking of where things lie... What did you do with Tristan?
- ELIJAH: Well, I persuaded some rather dedicated longshoremen to release our little monster in a box to the deepest, darkest depths of I-don't-give-a-damn.
[Marcel chuckles and holds up his glass in a toast]
- MARCEL: Well, then... to the devil in the deep blue sea.
[Marcel and Elijah clink their glasses together and drink deeply]
MIKAELSON COMPOUND[]
[Freya walks into Klaus' bedroom with her brother following close behind her, looking furious at what he's just learned]
- KLAUS: How can Aurora be gone?
- FREYA: [sarcastically] Oh. Apologies I left your lunatic ex unattended. See, I was busy casting the spell that saved the day. The effort left me a little taxed.
- KLAUS: She was drugged into a stupor and confined by your spell!
- FREYA: Well, she couldn't have broken free of my barrier on her own. Either she was aided by a witch, or someone who has access to dark objects.
- KLAUS: [sighs in realization] Lucien. He's the only one left who would risk his life for Aurora.
[Freya and Klaus both look at each other grimly]
THE BAYOU[]
[Night has fallen, and Hayley, dressed all in black, is sitting on the porch of her old shack, where she is writing the name "Jackson Kenner" into the Labonair Bible left to her by Eve. After a moment, Elijah approaches her from behind and brushes her shoulder with his hand]
- ELIJAH: [gently] It's time.
[Hayley takes a deep breath and shuts the Bible before she stands to head to the funeral. Once at the lake, Elijah takes a torch from one of the Crescent wolves and holds it while Hayley says her goodbyes to Jackson. She looks down at his body, wrapped in white sheets and resting on a wooden boat as per Crescent tradition, and starts to cry as she covers his face with the sheet. Hayley then grabs a bottle of whiskey and takes a large swig of it before she pours the rest on his body. She turns to take the torch from Elijah, and he watches her silently as she takes it and sets his body ablaze]
- HAYLEY: [whispers] 'Til death do us part.
[The boat is set onto the lake, where Jackson is given the traditional Viking funeral while all of his friends and family watch mournfully]
CAMI'S APARTMENT[]
[Klaus hesitantly walks onto Cami's front step and into the house, where he's drawn into the living room by the sound of a loud slurping noise. He is both surprised and a little concerned when he sees that the table is covered in several empty blood bags, and that she has just finished the one in her hands]
- KLAUS: [nervously] Camille?
- CAMI: I hope you don't mind-- I helped myself to the Mikaelson family blood stash.
[Cami licks a smear of blood from her thumb, and Klaus still looks worried, though less so now that he knows she's chosen to live as a vampire rather than die as a human]
- KLAUS: And how do you feel?
- CAMI: I have to admit... At first, it felt strange, that metallic taste. But then, it was like electricity coursing through my body. A million stars exploding in my mind all at once like nothing I have ever felt before. It was amazing.
[She stands to her feet and walks over to him confidently. She grabs his jacket to bring him closer to her and she smiles at him devilishly with blood still staining her lips]
- CAMI: And all I can think now, is... I want to do it again.
[She looks up at Klaus seductively, and after a moment, Klaus smiles proudly at her]
