April Young

April Young returned to town in season four. She grew up in Mystic Falls and Elena used to babysit her, until her father sent her to boarding school. Following his death, she returns.

Early Life and present life

Little is known about April Young. However, as far as the story has been revealed, as a young girl, April was babysat by Elena who would read April her short stories and April loved writing because of Elena . She was childhood friends with Elena's brother Jeremy and knew Elena's boyfriend at the time, Matt. Her mother died because she had cancer.Her father eventually sent her to boarding school. She is a kind girl and will never do something to hurt someone.

Season Four

Pastor Young mentions April to Elena and says she wants to be a writer thanks to Elena's inspiration when she used to babysit her when they were younger.

April sees Matt and Jeremy on her return to Mystic Falls.

In Memorial, after the death of her father and the other council members, April comes to town for the funeral. She sees Jeremy and Matt at school and tells them she'll be enrolling. Elena and Jeremy tries to console her loss, but , a vampire hunter, attacks her and uses her as bait to uncover the vampires' identities. Elena almost feeds on her when Caroline stops her and reminds her that April's just scared. Caroline heals her with her blood and Elena compels April to forget.

In The Rager, April goes to Rebekah's party and voices her suspicions to Elena about her father's death. Rebekah teases her about the town being cursed. April talks to Rebekah who, sympathetic for her being an orphan and grateful she stayed behind when everyone else left, offers to help her find out the truth about her dad's death.

April's alone at the Grill until Rebekah meets her. April's giving Matt flirty looks, but Rebekah claims she's "got dibs." Stefan arrives to talk to Rebekah and compels April to forget their conversation.

Connor takes Matt, April and Jeremy as hostages

In The Killer, April asks Matt if he knows where Rebekah is, confiding in him about how she's worried about her. Connor takes Matt, Jeremy, and April as hostages. April and Matt try to find an escape route before Stefan saves them. Later, April's talking to Matt and Jeremy with no memory of what happened, following a visit to Caroline's house, hinting she was compelled to forget. Jeremy gives her his vervain bracelet and Matt tells her it looks good on her. April gives Matt and Jeremy some vital information about her father and the professor.

In We All Go A Little Mad Sometimes, April, with Professor Shane, approaches Matt and Jeremy. When Shane walks away, April says there's something familiar about Shane. She also watches Shane's lecture on artifacts.

In My Brother's Keeper, April is first seen with Elena and Caroline, who are giving her advice on which dress to wear for the Miss Mystic Falls Pageant, as April is a contestant. Elena and Caroline agree on the blue dress. Damon walks in and tells April to wear the red dress. Caroline disagrees, saying that nobody cares what he thinks. April says that she does and Elena then agrees with Damon on April wearing the red dress.

When Caroline is presenting the Mystic Court, April is the last to be presented, but her date Jeremy is no where to be found. Matt replaces Jeremy as her escort, with April shown being very happy at this, and the two dance. April see's Jeremy arrive and she questions why he wasn't there for the dance, he apologizes and tells her he got caught up at work and was looking forward to it and was practicing to make it right for some time, April seemed surprised and grateful for what Jeremy tried to do. When Jeremy see's Atticus he asks why he's there, April tells him he's a judge and April talked to him about her dad, she explained she decided to check every possibility there could of been about his death, even suicide. After Jeremy see's Elena he tells her, her father was a brave man and he died a hero. At the end of the episode, April is chosen as the new Miss Mystic Falls. Therefore replacing Caroline Forbes as the reining Miss Mystic Falls.

In O Come, All Ye Faithful, April enters the bathroom where she finds Caroline dead on the floor. She checks her for a pulse and realizes that she doesn't have one, so she begins to panic. As she is about to go run out of the bathroom, Caroline wakes up and blocks the door. Caroline calls Stefan in front of her and mentions Rebekah's body being in the Lockwood Cellar. Caroline compels April to forget everything and tells her to leave. When Caroline talks to Matt, she told him that she compelled April, but he told her that she couldn't be compelled since she was wearing Jeremy's vervain bracelet. She suddenly goes missing and no one could find her. Near the end of the episode, April goes to the Lockwood cellar horrified, and finds Rebekah's body in a coffin.

Personality

April is a lot smarter than first impressions have you believe. She mirrors Elena in season one. Despite the horrifying circumstances surrounding her, April keeps a brave face. She's not a depressed person or the kind of girl who goes around placing blame. She's sixteen so she's not stable but she's not a tragic person, just in a tragic situation and trying to manage the situation which became her life.

Physical Appearance

April is described as being beautiful with long dark brown hair and ocean blue eyes. When she was younger, she had an emo pixie cut and braces as she fondly reminds Jeremy.
