This is the relationship between the former vampire and Petrova Doppelgänger Katherine Pierce and the witch Bonnie Bennett.

Season Two

In The Return, Bonnie meets Katherine while paying respects for the Mayor's death at the Lockwood Mansion, Katherine momentarily fools Bonnie into thinking she is Elena. Once Bonnie touches Katherine and senses that she is a vampire, she calls Elena to confirm her suspicion that it is Katherine. Noticing that she has become known, Katherine attacks Bonnie, fooling her by pretending that Bonnie's magic is hurting her. She then slams Bonnie against the wall and prepares to bite Bonnie, only to be outsmarted when Bonnie throws the doors open with magic, forcing Katherine to stop under the fear of being exposed.

Season Four

Katherine will play a pivotal role in Bonnie's plan to defeat Silas in She's Come Undone, The Walking Dead and Graduation (Episode).

Bonnie plans for Katherine to become truly immortal like Silas.

Trivia

The relationship between Bonnie and Katherine can be considered very different to Bonnie's ancestor, Emily Bennett and Katherine's relationship. Emily served as a "handmaiden" to Katherine as well providing Katherine with magical assistance as needed. Katherine and Bonnie have an immediate dislike for the other and that doesn't change even when Bonnie goes to Katherine for help with her plan to defeat Silas.
