Chris Mollere is the music supervisor for Template:The Vampire Diaries and Template:The Originals.

He writes instrumental music for the show, not songs. He also writes music for the Pretty Little Liars TV series. He is also the one who chooses the songs which will be played during the episode and few hours after the episode airs he tweets the names of the song used in the episode. In order to feature a song, they must pay a licencing fee to the artists.[1]
