The Vampire Diaries

Tara Elliott: "What can you tell us about the premiere?" [4]
Julie Plec: "It's called 'Hello, Brother' which is one of our most famous lines from the show. Right away we will start to understand who it is and what it is that has control over our two favorite men. Bonnie is going to realize very quickly that Enzo is doing everything in his power to lead her to him, to get her to rescue him. The problem is, he can't necessarily be rescued. Bonnie realizes that everyone is more concerned with rescuing Damon. So she decides she needs to be the advocate for Enzo."
Tara Elliott: "What can you tell us about a Steroline June wedding?
Julie Plec: "We couldn't be more aware of that line from the pilot & we LOVE being able to circle back to that. It's def in our lexicon of delivered ideas from earlier seasons."
Julie Plec: "The idea for the series ending has evolved a lot over the years. When Kev & I first thought of how to end it, Elena was supposed to be a part of the series all along. But it will all end in the same tone and same emotional state as 1st thought. if I have my way, it will be the ULTIMATE closure. The ultimate, perfect, 'Friday Night Lights' closure."
Tara Elliott: "Is there a plan to bring back characters from the past? Or from 'the Originals' or any other characters that were in earlier seasons?"
Julie Plec: "Our hold list of returning actors is about ten deep. We absolutely have plans to revisit stories with everybody."
Julie Plec: "I can't say who will choose who as far as relationship. I can say that there will be a satisfying resolution to all the relationships."

Tara Elliott: "What do you hope to see for Matt Donovon on this final season?"
Zach Roerig: "I want to see Matt take control of his life again. He's never put himself first. Coming back to MF with that in mind, it's like as though Matt has a superpower. He has this new self pride and I can't wait to see what he does with that."

Tara Elliott: "Do you think Alaric and Damon will ever get back to the bromance they once had?"
Matt Davis: "They're going to have to go through some shit to get back to that place. I'm curious to see how that'll happen in S8. I hope it does. And if it does, it'll be fireworks to see that happen."
Matt Davis: "Alaric being a father has definitely changed him. You'll see right away in S8 that he's in charge of the armory now."
Matt Davis: "At the start of S8 you'll see Ric flirting with his new hot nanny and you'll see the dynamic between Ric and Caroline parenting the kids. You'll see the dynamic between Caroline and Stefan dating while Ric flirts with the hot nanny and there will be a couple scenes that tease that Caroline isn't so comfortable with his relationship with the nanny. It's going to be a lot of fun to see him evolve this S8. I don't have kids, so playing a father is new to me. There was one scene where I was facetiming the twins and the director said ok 'Cut', Matt let's try that again and this time act like you actually like your kids. It was pretty funny."

Tara Elliott: "What are you going to miss the most about the show?"
Paul Wesley (laughing): "Candice of course! Candice & I have to do a lot of makeout scenes now. & like she's friends with my girlfriend and I'm friends w/ her husband & it's just funny"
Candice King: "I love how you love to talk about it all the time."
Paul Wesley: "I think it's funny! We have to laugh because we feel so uncomfortable. It's our job but it's a very strange thing. I'm going to miss that uncomfortability!"
Tara Elliott: "Where do you want Steroline to go in this last season? Is there a June wedding?"
Paul Wesley: "What the heck is this June wedding stuff?!"
Candice King: "One of the 1st lines in the pilot is Caroline joking about having a June wedding."
Paul Wesley: "Then I guess we have to have a June wedding!"
Candice King: "Yea, I guess so!"
Paul Wesley: "Are we even having a wedding?!"
Candice King: "Why are you asking me? Who knows! Maybe!"

Michael Malarkey: "I just want Enzo to be happy and to be with Bonnie because that's what he wants. For me though, I like to play the drama."
Michael Malarkey: "I love the ripper role. To go in that mode is super fun. But it's not all that it seems as you'll find out in the first few episodes. You'll find out in the 1st episode if Enzo is thinking of Bonnie or not. I can't say, but you'll find out right away at the start. I have no idea what the end game is. I like getting each new script and finding the new objectives."
Tara Elliott: "Is it fun working with Ian again?
Michael Malarkey: "Oh hell ya, we both love it. We get to just hang out again. And we work incredibly well together."

Tara Elliott: "Where do you want your character to end up? How do you want her to end her journey?"
Kat Graham: "I just really want Bonnie to be a hero. The hero that she is & I want her to stand in her choices for HER & I'm excited what that may turn into."
Tara Elliott: "What about Bonenzo? Where will that go?"
Kat Graham: "I really hope her passion and love for him will be what brings him home. I really think he has been one of the best matches for Bonnie."

Tara Elliott: "How dark will the show go in S8?"
Ian Somerhalder: "We go into some very dark places. The world is in a dark place right now as well & we're right there in it with them"
Ian Somerhalder: "One of the reasons we fell in love with this character Damon is that he had the ability 2b very dark, sadistic but at the same he was righteous. He had ill intent, but he had righteous reasons for having those ill intentions. And ultimately those are the most dangerous people. Ill intent with righteous reasons makes you very dangerous, that's what Damon has always been."

The Originals was represented by Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Phoebe Tonkin, Charles Michael Davis, Yusuf Gatewood, Riley Voelkel and Julie Plec. The Originals panel was held on Saturday, July 22 in Indigo Ballroom at 12pm. [5]

Quotes[]

"We're still in Mystic Falls, there are still characters that lived to tell the tale who have now, all these years later—I mean it's a good, what, 10 years? 12 years after the end of The Vampire Diaries. So who knows what little Salvatore children are running around? They're not yet students at the Salvatore School for the Young & Gifted, but maybe one day!"
Julie Plec, SDCC 2018
"Legacies will have a 2 year time jump after the end of The Originals... Hope will be 17 when the new show picks up."
