Do All Malivore Monsters Provide This Level of Emotional Insight? is the ninth episode of the third season of Legacies and the forty-first episode of the series overall.
Summary[]
HISTORY REPEATING ITSELF — As tensions build between Hope and Lizzie, the latest monster's arrival at the school will force them to set aside their differences in order to defeat it. Meanwhile, Alaric comes up with an excuse to keep tabs on Josie at Mystic Falls High, and Cleo helps Kaleb cope with a recent fallout with MG. Landon and Ethan also appear.[2]
Plot[]
Chairing the first Super Squad meeting following Landon's return from Malivore, Alaric tells the group that with Landon's return, monsters are more than likely to follow unless they close the portal. Landon questions where the rest of the Super Squad is — or the rest of the students for that matter — and Alaric is forced to tell him that they have been experiencing issues with enrolment, which is just another reason to fix the Malivore situation. Alaric further holds a vote on electing Cleo as a member of the squad, which passes with a unanimous vote. Alaric tells the team that they must formulate a plan to close the Malivore portal whilst he is gone, but must not summon any monsters until he returns.
Ethan asks to sit with Josie and MG.
At Mystic Falls High School, MG sits with Josie, having enrolled in the school that morning. He tells Josie that the school seems chilled, but she remarks that the school has its own tribes, pointing out the jocks and the comic-nerds. MG remarks that he thinks one of the students likes him, using his enhanced hearing to listen in on their conversations. Josie pleads with him to stop, citing that if her father found they were using their abilities in public he would pull them from the school. They're interrupted monetarily by Ethan, who arrives to sit at their table. MG asks him about enrolling in football, but Ethan reveals that he was cut from the team.
Lizzie finds Kaleb in MG's room, where she tells him that MG has left the Salvatore School. Kaleb tells her that he will return in no time, but is surprised when Lizzie reveals that he enrolled in Mystic Falls High and will be staying with Josie in town. The conversation switches quickly, however, as Kaleb suggests they summon a genie or another mythical wish-granting creature and ask it to grant their wish of closing the portal. Before Kaleb can articulate Lizzie's reaction, however, she already has constructed a plan.
In the library, Landon talks with Hope about their plan, questioning why they aren't working with Kaleb and Lizzie. Hope shows Landon a poster Lizzie stuck on her door that reads "No Tribrids Allowed". Landon suggests that Hope and Lizzie are more alike than she would think, and this worries Hope who realises what Lizzie may have planned.
Lizzie catches up to Cleo who is jogging by the lake of the Salvatore School. The two exchange idle chat about jogging before Lizzie announces herself as Cleo's Super Squad mentor. She tells Cleo that she has the perfect task for her enrolment, but the two are interrupted by Hope who arrives momentarily.

Having discovered what Lizzie was planning to do, Hope and the rest of the Super Squad discuss what appropriate action should be taken. Lizzie is adamant that summoning a pixie is their best action, but Hope believes something more akin to a cherub would be better. The squad is surprised, however, when Cleo points out that a monster has already emerged from the portal, a little pink creature. The creature speeds off, however, when Hope suggests they capture it. Lizzie and Hope follow the creature through the pipes of the Salvatore School, but issues arise when the creature pushes Lizzie into the pool and Lizzie believes it to have been Hope. Lizzie tells Hope to stay out of her way as someone always gets hurt when she is involved.
MG saves Ethan from being ran over.
Alaric brings the artefact to Dorian at Mystic Falls High School, asking him to examine it. Dorian tells Alaric that he will contact him when he has found something, but Alaric seems more determined to stick around the school and keep an eye on Josie. Dorian tells Alaric that he can take over teaching PE for the day given he had a teacher phone in sick. Josie and MG are surprised to see Alaric, but Josie tells MG to refrain from using his abilities in front of Alaric. This goes south, however, when MG is forced to use his vampire speed to save Ethan from being ran over.
Meanwhile, Hope confronts Lizzie when the creature makes an announcement through the school PA system calling Hope out. Hope is unaware that Lizzie didn't make the announcement (or that it was the creature using Lizzie's voice), but is reluctant to accept Lizzie's alibi. Cleo arrives and soothes the situation over and Kaleb arrives moments later citing that he found out the creature was shredding; Landon immediately realises that they're dealing with a gremlin and tries to make jokes related to the gremlin franchise.
Back at Mystic Falls High, Alaric, Josie and MG talk about how to proceed with the situation with Ethan. They all eventually decide that it is best if MG use compulsion to make Ethan forget. They hit a block, however, when it becomes apparent that Mac knows about vervain and has been giving it to Ethan unknowingly.
Cleo and Kaleb talk about the gremlin and the current situation at the Salvatore School. Cleo tells Kaleb that she is not too sure she wishes to be a part of the Salvatore School anymore given the threat it faces against Malivore. Kaleb tries to rationalise with her, but must leave to get more research. In the distance, the gremlin watches as Cleo is left without Kaleb's protection.
In the gym, Lizzie and Hope plan to attack the gremlin when it arrives to capture Landon. They are surprised, however, when Landon reveals that the gremlin is moving further away from the school. Everything is explained when Kaleb burst into the gym announcing that the gremlin has taken Cleo. Hope, Lizzie and Kaleb decide to go to find Cleo whilst Landon remains at the school looking for clues to defeat the gremlin.
Meanwhile, it is revealed that Mac has been giving Ethan vervain in capsules disguised as herbal remedies to aid with the healing of his arm. Alaric tells MG that the vervain will be out of Ethan's system in the next few hours so he should try compelling him again after this. MG and Ethan talk about MG's upbringing and MG reveals that he is a vampire. As the vervain leaves Ethan's system, Ethan asks for MG to leave the part where they met behind as the two are now friends; Ethan remarks that he could use a friend right about now, a sentiment that is echoed by MG.
Lizzie, Hope, and Kaleb find Cleo stranded down a well in the middle of a field. They echo that the situation was too easy, and it becomes clear that the gremlin used Cleo as bait and is now bigger than ever. Landon arrives moments later and tells the trio that respect is the gremlin's weakness, but Kaleb jokes that they are definitely doomed. Despite initial failed attempts to compliment and respect each other, Lizzie and Hope eventually reconcile and are able to gain back the respect for one another that they had lost. They are successful in reducing the gremlin to a small enough size for Hope to step on and destroy forever.
Afterwards, Hope and Landon talk about their relationship. Landon emphasises the point that he cannot be Hope's everything due to the lengths that she would go to save him — there must be a balance. The two decide that they will stay together but not heavily rely on one another as much.
Alaric walks Josie to where she is staying at the Gilbert House. He remarks that the house has been rebuilt impeccably, and the two sit on the step and talk. Alaric tells her that he is finally allowing her to grow up and move on with her life, and Josie accepts this. Josie asks if he wants to stay over and eat dinner with Elena and Damon; Alaric accepts, remarking that Damon should be the last one to give Josie relationship advice.
Later that night, Cleo and Kaleb take a walk whilst Kaleb checks on MG. He is upset to find that MG has made friends with Ethan, but the two continue walking afterwards. As Ethan and MG play football, it is revealed that MG did not compel Ethan to forget that he is a vampire.
