I was recruited by an intelligence organization. The States sounded like a better life. I didn't know what I was signing up for, but soon I learned that things like you exist in this world. My job was very much like yours. To keep the supernatural world a secret. Whenever a monster went bump in the night and risked exposing the truth, I tracked it down and brought it back to headquarters.
Seylah describes working for Triad Industries in Maybe I Should Start From The End

Triad Industries, or simply Triad, is an intelligence organization whose primary purpose is to keep the supernatural world secret from the general populace. Whenever 'monsters' go bump in the night and risk exposing the truth, Triad members are dispatched to track the creature down and bring it back to headquarters where they would be disposed of in a black pit; the portal to Malivore. It is located in Fort Valley, Georgia. However, the facility has been cleared out since Malivore vanished.

Triad is more than a physical organization. Triad is the representation of three people, the original bloodlines of the factions of vampires, witches, and werewolves. They're all united by a single purpose: to kill monsters. With the destruction of Malivore, Hope Mikaelson, the tribrid and a new breed of monster in their eyes, is their new purpose.

History[]

LGC115-042-Ancient Vampire-Ancient Witch-Golem Malivore-Ancient Werewolf

Triad creates Malivore

Triad's creation began around a millennia ago. In one region of the world, there was no monster more terrifying than dragons. No other supernatural faction was any match for the dragons on their own, so an unholy alliance was formed. A witch, a werewolf, and a vampire, the "Triad", combined their blood, using black magic, to create a golem capable of consuming the dragons. When the dragons, in human form, returned to collect the treasure from all the villages they had attacked, Malivore was waiting for them; it took them and consumed them, swallowing them into an endless space inside itself.

LGC115-092~Golem Malivore-Witches~Ryan

Malivore is turned back into the black pit

Seeking to create his own legacy, Ryan Clarke would eventually betray his creator. He told the descendants of his original worshipers, a secret society, of Malivore's attempts to create a lineage, how he was violating Nature by trying to birth a new species. Ryan led them to Malivore and witches, who used black magic and three artifacts, trapped him and dissolved him, returning him to his natural state — a black pit. The three locks keep Malivore bound, unable to take form, while the pit retains the same properties as Malivore. Within a few years, the secret society grew into a business; Triad Industries — keeping the world safe from all the things that go bump in the night. Eventually, the power corrupted them, and "monsters" became whoever they didn't like.

Overtime, supernatural beings that weren't thrown into the pit were forcefully imprisoned in a detention facility, drugged for compliancy and became subservient to Triad and their goals. Particularly, witches were forced to do their bidding, to cast locator spells, concealment spells, and even torture.

Throughout Legacies Series[]

Season One[]

In Maybe I Should Start From The End, Ryan, disguised as a technician for Poppy Lane Gas Company, surveys Seylah Chelon's house. As men roam around the yard, he spots Alaric Saltzman and Hope Mikaelson; they stop their vehicle to ask some questions and wonder what had happened. Ryan wonders if they had known who lived at the house with the "gas leak" but Alaric ignores the question and asks for directions to the highway, saying that they're lost. Ryan gives them the directions they seek and eyes them suspiciously as they drive off.

Later that night, after Seylah tells Alaric and Hope about Triad, she heads back to Triad, killing those she encountered and jumps into the Malivore pit, seeing as the only way to protect her son. While plunging into the pit, the only thing to survive was the picture she and Landon took together when he was till a baby. Since the absorption was unscheduled, Ryan and a technician take readings from the pit. Upon inspection, Ryan found the photo to which it alerted him to her existence as he recognized her. To tie up loose ends, he kicks the technician into the pit.

In What Was Hope Doing In Your Dreams?, Ryan asks a security guard for the file on Seylah and when he sees that she has no record there, he asks to go to the backup files, for at first isn't allowed as he isn't a senior member. He relays a password to the guard and is allowed back, and he eventually finds Seylah's file, which reports as "absorbed". When the guard comes in to see if he found anything, Ryan tells him he didn't and stashes the file in the back of his pants. With the file in hand, it leads on the track to Landon.

In There's a World Where Your Dreams Came True, in the apocalyptic reality of Lizzie's last wish with Ablah, the supernatural world has been outed and Triad Industries round up and kill supernaturals under Marshall Law. Such as it is, they attack the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted, though the students fight back. Lizzie however wishes this reality away as if it never happened.

In There's a Mummy on Main Street, Maple Hollows is overrun with a beetle-like plague due to a mummy. Triad Industries arrive and quarantine the town. Ryan meets Alaric and Hope and quickly discovers that their previous meeting, Alaric had lied about his identity and, in fact, runs a school for the supernatural. With a mummy on the loose, Ryan claims that they do not have the firepower to take the creature down and asks for his help, rather the help of his daughters and Hope, witches with magic. Ultimately, the mummy is stopped and Alaric attempts to steal the Anubian Urn out from under Ryan, though he captures Emma and Dorian and trades their lives for the urn. Despite being told to place the urn inside the vault, Ryan throws the urn into the Malivore pit, breaking the second key..

In Let's Just Finish the Dance, Ryan captures Nia, a gorgon and threatens her family if she doesn't cooperate - an unwilling hostage, he forces her to infiltrate the school and seek out Landon. With Ryan's plan foiled, Veronica Greasley, who's in charge of Triad Industries, is forced to clean up his mess and kidnaps Landon herself.

In I'll Tell You a Story, Veronica brings Landon to their headquarters and tasks Ryan with the usual debriefing before he was to throw him into the pit. She wants to find out where he's from, his family, and any other phoenixes he's willing to give up. Finally, she wants to know about the knife and why he wanted one of the locks to the pit. Ryan agrees and Veronica leaves. Ryan, however, has his own plans and isn't here to interrogate him. Instead, he wants answers and decides to tell him the story of Malivore, his father, and how Triad came to be. After telling Landon the story, he convinces Landon to help him unlock Malivore and set him free. Landon agrees and the two depart Triad Industries.

Meanwhile, Veronica and Burr learn of Ryan's deception. They gather a taskforce and confront the Salvatore School

In There's Always a Loophole, Veronica depowers the school using the Blood Fountain. They're looking for Chalice of Arimathea, which Veronica believes to be the third key to Malivore and they believe it to be a part of the school's collection.

Meanwhile, Malivore releases the Headless Horseman and tracks Ryan and Landon to a warehouse owned by Triad. It stores all the supernatural objects they've confiscated over the years. Landon has already subconsciously found the third artifact, a dagger. The Headless Horseman brings Landon and the dagger back to Triad Industries; Ryan follows suit. Back at Triad, the Headless Horseman quickly deals with the remaining agents. He takes the dagger from Landon and throws it into the pit, however, Hope arrives just in time to telekinetically stop it. They engage in battle, though none of Hope's spells are effective against the Horseman. Landon, however, tells her to stab it's head, which Hope does and defeats the monster. With them distracted with the Horseman, Ryan takes the dagger and successfully throws it into the pit, unlocking Malivore. As Malivore begins to rise, Hope comes up with an idea to stop Malivore—by jumping into the pit herself. In doing so, the pit is seemingly destroyed with her existence forgotten along with it.

Season Two[]

In I Couldn't Have Done This Without You, Triad remains empty and vacated. The Necromancer and Chad, unaware of Hope's sacrifice months prior, break into the facility to pee into the pit out of spite for Malivore taking away the former's powers. The Malivore pit is gone and they come to the conclusion that he had been beaten.

Season Three[]

In You Can't Run From Who You Are, Alaric is inspired by Cleo to search for clues about the mysterious artifact at Triad's headquarters. Alaric figured that since they knew it was in their possession, they might have records about what it is and can do.

Arriving at the facility, they discover that it's vacant and appears to have been ransacked. Cleo believes she gave Alaric an unhelpful idea, but Alaric discovered there was a fire suppression system and the three of them eventually discover their records room. After finding schematics from Leonardo DaVinci and Triad deeming the artifact "Project Pandora", another electrical fire causes the fire suppression system to activate and destroys what little clues they found.

Season Four[]

In I Thought You'd Be Happier To See Me, a vampire bartender is tasked by Triad to watch Hope, the newly activated tribird. After Rebekah attempts to neutralize Hope, the vampire snaps Rebekah's neck. His employer, however, berate his actions as he has overstepped in his job. This distraction, however, allows Hope to revive and take the henchman prisoner. He shows Hope the Triad brand on his chest, though she quips that both Triad and Malivore have been taken down and destroyed, respectively. The henchman explains to her that Triad isn't just a place. It's three people, the original bloodlines. Vampires, witches, werewolves, all united by a single purpose to kill monsters. Hope has become their new purpose. She is a new breed of monster in their eyes and destroying her is the only thing that all three factions agree on. As he attempts to bargain his life for their location and names, the brand on his chest bursts into flames, engulfing and killing him.

With the bartender's phone, his boss calls Hope, though she's already aware of her. Hope wants to know who she is, but she doesn't give a name, as that would spoil the fun. Hope tells her that she's coming for them, but not soon enough. The woman tells Hope that she'll be waiting and hangs up on her.

In You're A Long Way From Home, Hope tracks down Ryan and learns of the data facility. If Triad keep records on the bloodlines of the original Triad that created Malivore, that informaiton would be here.

Forced to come with her, Ryan and Hope eventually arrive at the data facility. Ryan gains Hope access with his passcode which is still active. That will only get them so far and there's an elaborate security system. Hope, however, doesn't intend to sneak around and pulls a fire alarm, alerting them to her presence. A vampire and a werewolf emerge from a door and engage Hope in physical combat, though Hope easily overpowers them, killing the werewolf.

In the heart of the data facility, Ryan sees they have an Argus on watch, though chained. Hope admits she'd just kill it single-handedly, but opts to throw Ryan down for him to handle the creature. And use him as bait. As the Argus sets its many eyes on Ryan, Hope is free to find what she's looking for.

Ryan runs from the Argus, circling back and around, ensnaring the chain on filing cabinets, stopping the creature from reaching him in a dead end turn. Hope has found what she's been looking for and intends to find out just who Ryan wants to be. She grabs a sword and breaks the chain, freeing the Argus. Ryan prepares to attack, though the Argus stops in its tracks, turns to look at Hope and walks off away from them.

In You Will Remember Me, a witch takes a dip in her pool and lounges on a hereby chair. She rings a bell, calling for from a waiter to get in touch with the rest of the Triad to set a meeting for later in the afternoon. They will have to deal with the tribrid sooner than expected. When nothing happens, she rises from the lounge chair asking if there's a problem only to find Hope standing before her with a black candle. Hope, however, has three problems, to be exact. She is the first and the candle bursts into flames. The witch begins to rapidly age.

Hope confronts the witch, setting the black candle down. The witch, Agatha St. Clair stands and casts incendia against Hope, however, she quickly discovers she no longer can access her magic. She quips that if she had talked first, she would have told her that the candle is nullifying their magic. Hope, however, still has her werewolf and vampire powers. Agatha calls her an affront to Nature herself as she is a tribrid. However, Hope berates her for using black magic to stay young, which isn't natural. Putting her own vanity aside, Hope is cursed among the species. A tribrid was never meant to exist and sullies the bloodline of all three species. Agatha accepts her fate, death, but she tells her that there's no hiding from her fate. Hope is no longer hiding and demands to know where she can find the werewolf and vampire she's working with so she can have this conversation with them, too. Agatha can't, otherwise she'll be just as dead and shows her own Triad sigil on her thigh. They have an unbreakable alliance, punishable by fire. Hope believes she's bluffing, as she's the witch who cast the covenant spell and doesn't believe she would be dumb enough to put her own life on the line. Hope calls her bluff, but Agatha wholly believes that the Alpha will tear out her tongue. Hope threatens her again and is forced to talk, however, she quickly begins to combust into fire. Hope kicks her into the pool to extinguish the flames

At a bar, a knock rings out and a man approaches the door's peephole. Opening it, he finds Agatha, though she's covered in burns and assumes that she's had a run-in with the tribrid. He lets her in, but Hope walks through with Agatha's decapitated and burned head. Agatha was kind enough to reveal where their werewolf den was, deciphering it from all her screams. Hope is looking for Greg, the man that let her in. She's found the alpha and his entire pack. He gives her a last chance to talk before they attack her, but she formally challenges him to an alpha fight. Greg doesn't believe she can do that, but the other wolves back off and allow it.

Hope fights Greg one-on-one, but Hope easily overpowers him, flipping a pool table on top of him. Taking a rack and placing it around his head, she decapitates him under the heel of her foot. One of the werewolves bends a knee and the others quickly follow. Long live their new alpha. She demands them to get up since they're wolves, not royalty. She wants to know where the vampire is but he shows her the Triad sigil. They're all branded and can't tell her or they'll die. Hope doesn't care. Rules are rules. She wants him to tell her.

Hope waits for the mistress of the house to appear. Aurora de Martel appears behind her, noting that she sees her father within her. Aurora tells her that she knows everything about Klaus and introduces herself to Hope. She is Aurora, Rebekah's first vampire of her sireline and her father's lover and greatest enemy. Klaus was the most feared vampire in the world and he conspired to let her desiccate in a wall and when that failed, she was trapped in an endless slumber. Hope does recall her. She denotes that it was her family's arrogance that allowed the fools that were her partners in Triad to rescue her without being noticed. She thanks her, however, for killing them. Aurora already knows what to do with her, but Hope doesn't back down. She can't be killed. Death only lasts a moment. She will wear the fate her father deserved.

Hope laughs off Aurora's plan. It's all because of her father. He dumped her and said that she should get over it. Klaus destroyed her life, and her sanity over the course of centuries. She was angry when she learned he took the coward's way out when she had been awakened. Hope tells her that her humanity is off and guilt-tripping she won't work. Likewise, she calls Hope a coward, too, and believes her weapon will fix that and show her Papa Tunde's Blade. Hope is underwhelmed at the revelation. Aurora scolds her and explains that the blade was imbued with black magic by the witch Papa Tunde and it was one of four bones culled from the Hollow, a name she's familiar with. The Hollow is ancient history. She tells Hope that this blade nearly broke her father and questions if she thinks herself as strong as him. She gives Hope a head start, but pulls a second blade from her back. Hope is quicker and grabs her wrist and forces the blade out of her hand, slicing her hand in the process. She vamps behind Aurora and snaps her neck.

Hope pins Aurora to the wall, letting her hang by her hands as she recovers. Hope assumes the weapon is the real Tunde blade. The other one was meant as a distraction. Hope wants to know what it did to her father. Aurora gladly tells her that, burrowed into his chest, it rendered him unconscious and in a state of impossible and unending agony. Hope decides to use the blade against her. Aurora tells her that she has no idea what she's doing and, like her father, is being reckless. She's just like every other Mikaelson she's come across. Hope doesn't care and stabs Aurora in the stomach. However, the blade changes into the Trident, the cloaking spell having worn off. Hope doesn't understand and asks what the weapon is. Aurora tells her not to worry and she'll explain everything when they wake up.

Hope stands in Aurora's body, confused, asking what she did to her. Aurora, in Hope's body, tells her that it's obvious. She tricked her, thanks to a little magic from Agatha, who's been watching her for a long time. That is how she knew how to make the trident. Hope didn't stab her with Papa Tunde's blade. That was destroyed in order to raise the Hollow. If only Hope wasn't so ignorant and knew her history. Aurora asks if the back of her neck itches, revealing a Triad sigil. Hope believes that Aurora betrayed Triad and should have burned, but Aurora has merely manipulated Hope into killing them for her. Magic and loopholes, so it goes. Hope wants her body back. While Aurora's body is ancient and powerful by vampiric standards, she wonders if it's a match for her new tribrid body. Hope, out matched, flees from Aurora.

Tools and Weapons[]

  • Malivore Mud Bullets: Bullets that were formed from the mud of the Malivore pit and weaponized by Triad scientists that can break the skin of any supernatural being. Once struck, it will fester and infect said being until it disintegrates them from the inside out. Burr specifically states, however, that guns using these weapons would never harm a human child.
  • Psychotropic Drug: A drug that Triad developed to make witches compliant so they could force them to perform locator spells, concealment spells, and torture. Single drops are typically enough to produce psychotropic effects similar to "mind control" though could be broken with extreme emotions. In large doses, it can cause shared hallucinogenic experiences, which is a common side effect of nightshade.

Facilities[]

  • Backup Archive: An undisclosed location operated by Triad Industries that backs up employee records. To search the records, it requires a password (E477KFV) that is only granted to employees with the highest level security clearance. The files indicate whether or not employees were absorbed by the Malivore pit.
  • Triad Detention Facility: An undisclosed location operated by Triad Industries, it is used to imprison witches in cells and forced into complacency through pharmacological means. For witches that the psychotropic drug did not work on, Andi alludes to torture, either by other witches or by Triad.
  • Data Facility: Operated by Triad Industries, the data facility is located somewhere near Fayetteville, Georgia and off of Route 50. It is a large open warehouse with minimal personnel with supposedly some sort of elaborate security system. A once chained Argus seemingly protected those that worked at the facility. Within the large space, hundreds of filing cabinets and storage boxes create makeshift hallways with a few desks scattered throughout.
