The 80s Decade Dance was an event in Mystic Falls High School in 2011. This event occurred in Season Four. It was cancelled by Mayor Hopkins, but Stefan found a charming way to make it up to a disappointed Rebekah.

In A View to a Kill, Bonnie and Caroline began setting up for the dance. They blew up balloons and placed them around the floor, before receiving a call from Elena, who tells the two that she wants to kill Kol Mikaelson — the two are shocked to hear this, but understand.
Owing to the events that were about to unfold, the dance was cancelled. Rebekah was upset about this, given it was her first high school dance every. Stefan saw this as an opportunity to distract Rebekah, with hopes of also stealing the dagger off her — he was also able to give her the night she had always wanted. Stefan chose the music, including songs by The Cure and Bon Jovi. He handed Rebekah a koala corsage and they began to dance, however this was a distraction whilst Matt searched for the dagger.

Season Two[]
In Screw Endgame, the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted holds its first 80s decade dance. The dance is arranged by Josie Saltzman, presumably on a plan arranged by Lizzie, as she notes that Lizzie will not be happy if a balloon is popped. The dance is a success, and is the moment that MG is convinced to forget about Lizzie, but also the moment that Landon and Josie agree to have sex. Furthermore, during the dance, Lizzie tells Hope that she is glad she returned from Malivore, but will deny saying it if Hope tells anyone.
