Season One[]
In Founder's Day, the town held the first Founders' Day celebrations of the series. The celebrations included a marching band and a large float. The large float was compromised of the Timberwolves football team, a reconstruction of the Battle of Willow Creek and Miss Mystic Falls and her court (Elena and Caroline, with their escorts Stefan and Matt).
Later that evening, Mayor Lockwood held a speech for the 150th anniversary of the town and the fireworks started. Carol Lockwood was in charge of the floats and announced them as they passed by.
During the celebration, the device was activated after the Founders' Council got wind of a rumor that the tomb vampires were planning on killing the Founding Families in retribution for their ancestors trapping them in the church for 145 years. Once the vampires (and werewolves) were incapacitated by the device, the Sheriff's deputies injected the vampires with vervain while the townspeople were setting off fireworks. Unfortunately, Mayor Lockwood, who, unbeknownst to him or his immediate family, was an untriggered werewolf, was also affected by the device and ultimately died after a vampire injected with vervain killed him in the basement of the Gilbert medical clinic.
