I'm a tribrid. The only one of my kind. No one can represent my interests but me.
Hope to Alaric in Malivore

Hope Andrea[2] Mikaelson is a main character in Legacies, she was a former major recurring character in The Originals before being promoted to a main character in the fifth season. Hope is the tribrid daughter of Niklaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall-Kenner. She is the granddaughter of Ansel, Esther Mikaelson and two unnamed werewolves, as well as the step-granddaughter of Mikael. She is also the niece of Freya, Finn, Elijah, Kol, Rebekah, and Henrik Mikaelson, and the grand-niece of Dahlia. She is also a distant relative of Lana, Eve, and Cary. She is the adoptive younger sister of Marcel Gerard via her father. Due to his marriage to Hayley, Jackson Kenner was her step-father for almost a year, until he was killed by Tristan de Martel.

She was named Hope by her father, who took inspiration from his half-brother Elijah's words about his newborn child being their family's hope. Her middle name is Andrea after her mothers birth-name and she takes the surname of her father's side.

Hope was conceived in The Vampire Diaries season four episode Bring It On, and it was revealed that Hayley was pregnant four episodes later in The Originals. She was then born in The Originals season one episode From a Cradle to a Grave. As a result of her unique heritage, she is the world's first werewolf-witch-vampire hybrid. She inherited her werewolf gene from both of her parents, while her vampire and witch legacy came from her father who is the Original vampire-werewolf hybrid and the son of the Original Witch. Through her mother's Labonair lineage, Hope is werewolf royalty.

In From a Cradle to a Grave, Hope was sent away to be raised by Rebekah, in order to protect her from her father's enemies: the Guerrera Wolves, Esther, and Dahlia. Her death was faked to protect her. However, in season two's The Brothers That Care Forgot, Esther had found Rebekah whilst she is with Hope at the park, this is signified by the presence of starlings. At the end of the second season, Hope is living with Hayley and Jackson (stepfather by marriage) in the Bayou, and by the end of the third season, she is living with Hayley on the road. By the fourth season, she lives with Hayley and the Mikaelson Family at the Abattoir.

After having the Hollow's spirit separated into four members of her family, she and Hayley leave for Mystic Falls. She becomes a student at the boarding school and as time goes by, she becomes determined to see her father again, despite the consequences that could ensue.

Hope is a member of the Mikaelson Family, the Labonair Family, the Kenner Family, and an unnamed family of werewolves. Hope is by birthright a member of the Crescent Wolf Pack and the North East Atlantic Pack, as well as an unnamed witch family, and the only child fathered by the Original Hybrid.

In Bring It On, Niklaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall slept together and conceived a child.

Hayley's child

In The Originals, the witch Sophie Deveraux revealed that Hayley was, in fact, pregnant with Klaus' child. Klaus refused to believe it until he used his enhanced hearing to hear the child's heartbeat. Sophie revealed that the baby is one of Nature's "loopholes". She later revealed that it was because of Klaus' werewolf side that Hope was conceived. Sophie then demanded that Klaus help her or she would kill the baby and its mother.

Klaus initially had no interest in having anything to do with the child, even telling the witches they made a mistake if they thought they could use Hayley and their child as leverage to manipulate him. He dismissed the child's existence and acted as though he didn't care if it lived or died. After some words of consideration from Elijah Mikaelson, and an-exchange from Camille O'Connell, he later changed his mind about the child. When Elijah asked him about Hayley and their unborn child, Klaus replied to him that "every king needs an heir."

Throughout The Originals Series

"I won't lose that baby."
Klaus about his daughter.

In Always and Forever, Elijah tells Sophie that he believes this child will be a way for Klaus to finally be happy. Sophie is glad he feels that way, as she blackmails him. If he gets Klaus to co-operate with their demands, since Marcel Gerard already drove the werewolves from the French Quarter, nobody will have to know of the existence of a hybrid baby. In a later phone conversation with Rebekah Mikaelson, Elijah swears he will not let anything happen to the baby.

In House of the Rising Son, when Rebekah arrives in New Orleans looking for Elijah, she meets Hayley, commenting her "supernatural, miracle baby bump" isn't showing. After a short conversation with Niklaus about the whereabouts of their elder brother, Rebekah takes Hayley to the basement of their house, showing her the coffins, before warning her to get out of New Orleans while she can, because once the baby is born, Niklaus will be "planning a coffin for her." Hayley comments that the witches cast a spell; if she leaves New Orleans, she and the baby will die. Rebekah's words clearly affecting her, Hayley heads to Jardin Gris, inquiring wolfsbane in an attempt to abort the baby. She sits on a bench at night, pouring the poison into a cup of tea, urging herself to drink it. She is about to drink when she hears rustling behind her. Vampires appear in front of her, saying wolves aren't welcome. Hayley, fed up of being told what to do by vampires, tosses the cup at him and attempts to flee. Rebekah suddenly shows up, ripping the heart out of one of the vampire's, and snapping the neck of the other, saving Hayley's life. After Klaus hears of Hayley leaving the house, he berates her and demands to know what she was doing. In a rage, Hayley growls that she wanted to put the baby out of it's misery, a comment which Klaus begins to choke her over, showing he clearly cares for the baby. The day after, Klaus slowly walks into Hayley's room whilst she is supposedly sleeping. He notices the bottle of wolfsbane and sniffs the top. Hayley then tells him that she didn't use it, Klaus asks her why, as she could have been free from "all of this." Hayley says that when she was being attacked, she wasn't just protecting herself, she was protecting her child and she didn't want to let anyone hurt it.

A girl.

In Tangled Up In Blue, Hayley is walking by the pool at night, and she suddenly looks up to see herself face to face with a wolf. Sabine Laurent suddenly appears and tells her that the wolf is drawn to her because of the baby, before telling her that she knows some charms that can reveal the baby's gender, admitting that it is not magic that she will be using. Later on, Hayley is lying on a kitchen table with Sabine dangling a pendant over her stomach. She tells her that she thinks it is a girl, this excites Hayley. Hayley suddenly becomes serious and says "don't tell me I'm having a mini-Klaus" before Sabine drops the pendant and gasps, repeating the same sentence leaving Hayley confused at her words. Sometime later, Klaus walks into the room whilst Hayley is seated on her laptop, and she reveals that she thinks their child is a girl; unseen to her, Klaus smiles at the news. As he leaves, Hayley is seen typing the sentence Sabine repeated onto her laptop.

Rebekah realizes that the baby can heal Hayley.

In Girl in New Orleans, Agnes persuades Hayley to go to a doctor out in The Bayou who agrees after a notice of Rebekah who told her that she must care most about her child. The doctor tells Hayley that her child is healthy and Hayley reports that she knew it and that her daughter is a tough one, just like her. Then a wolf howls and Hayley understands that she falls into an ambush led by Agnes. However, she kills her doctor and manages to escape to the warlocks and fight them off until Rebekah eventually comes to save her. However, they are both then shot, and Hayley goes missing. When Hayley shows up later, she has forgotten what has happened but believes that a wolf is looking after her, and has killed the witches after her to protect her. Her wounds have also all healed and is revealed that her baby has healed her due to its vampire healing blood, inherited from her father, Klaus.

In Sinners and Saints, Hayley questions Sophie about the fact that her child will be the witches' end.

File:Hayley and Elijah Fruit of the Poisoned Tree.jpg

Hayley in pain because of the Needle of Sorrows.

In Fruit of the Poisoned Tree, while Hayley speaks to Elijah after what happened to her and the baby during his absence and that they decide to find a way to unlike her to Sophie, Agnes enacts a plan to kill the child, by using the link between Sophie and Hayley. She uses a cursed object, The Needle of Sorrows, to cause Hayley's temperature to spike rapidly to cause a miscarriage. While Klaus goes to find Agnes, Sophie works with Elijah and Rebekah to lower Hayley's temperature and heart rate, until Davina, through Elijah's machinations, could unwittingly severe the link between Sophie and Hayley, saving the baby's life. Later Elijah kills Agnes for trying to kill his niece.

In Bloodletting, it is revealed that the baby's blood is capable of turning werewolves into hybrids. However, the hybrids created are sired to its mother - likely due to it and her being the same for the time being. Tyler Lockwood kidnaps Hayley and tries to kill the baby, as he believes that Klaus desires to use the baby to sire a second army of hybrids. Klaus scares him off, however, Tyler then goes to Marcel, and informs him of the baby's existence, and that its abilities will prove a threat to the vampire kingdom.

In The River in Reverse, Klaus mentions how he believes that his child will grow up calling Elijah father because of the way Hayley adores him and how his siblings don't believe that his intentions toward his child are pure. He later states that his child is all that matters to him now.

In Reigning Pain in New Orleans, Klaus tells Marcel how the witches forced him to help them take down Marcel by threatening to kill his unborn child. He goes on to mention how at the beginning he didn't care for his child, but after remembering how Mikael despised him since birth he had a change of heart because he doesn't want to end up being exactly like his father was to him. Elijah also reveals that descendants of Klaus' father are still alive (Cary is a descendant), therefore meaning relatives of the child as well.

In Après Moi, Le Déluge, the baby becomes part of the plan to complete the Harvest, and also to prevent Davina Claire's power from destroying all of New Orleans. Using the fact that the baby is alive, and therefore able to own property, the Original vampires bury and consecrate their mother's remains with Kieran's help and Esther becomes a New Orleans witch. As her children, The Originals act as a conduit of her magic, so then Sophie can channel the power.

Finally, she asks that Hayley tells the baby stories of 'her crazy aunt Bex' and, despite her absence, she really does love her niece.

In Moon Over Bourbon Street, Klaus tells Jackson he counts on the werewolves sense of unity to protect his unborn daughter. Elijah and Hayley also express their concern for the safety of the baby. Elijah suggests to Hayley to come back and live with him and Klaus. Hayley, however, declines his offer.

Hayley feels her baby kick.

In The Big Uneasy, Klaus tells Elijah that, while he feels Hayley and the baby will be better protected in The Bayou with the Crescent wolves, he will bring Hayley back before she goes into labor. Klaus wishes the baby to born in the compound. A Closer Walk With Thee 039

The baby in Klaus' nightmare.

In A Closer Walk With Thee, Klaus goes to Father Kieran O'Connell's funeral. When he walks into the church the coffin is closed. He looks confused at everyone who's sitting there and opens the coffin. When he opens the coffin he sees a baby lying in it. He smiles at the baby and tries to pick her up, but someone drives a stake through his heart. When he turns around he sees that it's Mikael. He then wakes up and realizes it was a nightmare. He later tells Cami O'Connell that he dreams of Mikael because he's afraid of becoming a father, he doesn't need a psychologist to figure that out. But Elijah has also been dreaming of Mikael and they realize something else is going on. At Kieran's funeral Hayley starts coughing up blood and faints thanks to a spell Monique Deveraux had cast. Klaus, Elijah and Genevieve take her to the compound. Elijah can't hear Hayley's heartbeat, but only that of the baby. Genevieve tries to save her by using magic. Klaus gives Hayley his blood, but it doesn't work. Klaus then tells Elijah he won't lose that baby and he wants to deliver the baby now, but Elijah stops him. Genevieve agrees with Elijah, if they deliver the baby Hayley will bleed to death.

In the mean time we see that Hayley is on the other side with Mikael. She doesn't understand why she can see him, but then she realizes the only reason why she can see him is because she is dead. She screams for her baby, but Mikael tells her it's too late to save the atrocity that's festering in her womb. She tells him she can't really be dead, because otherwise he wouldn't try to kill her and the baby. He tells her the baby is doomed anyway with a father like Klaus. She responds that her daughter has one advantage Klaus never had, she will never know Mikael. She then wakes up thanks to Genevieve's spell and tells Klaus and Elijah that Mikael tried to kill her. Later Hayley is sitting in her room in the compound when Klaus walks in. He tells her that she proved to be quite resilient, fighters, both her and the baby. She tells him that she decided to move back in. Klaus is happy to hear that and tells her that he only wants that the child is kept safe. She asks him what will be come of her once she gives birth. She fears Klaus will try to take their daughter away from her. Klaus asks her to follow him, he wants to show her something. He prepared a nursery next to Hayley's room. Auntie Bex and baby Hope

In Rebirth, Hope is living with Rebekah. She tells Hope a fairy tale based on her father and New Orleans. In this fairy tale, Klaus is the King and due to many enemies he is forced to send his princess, Hope away. However, Rebekah tells that one day the King and his noble brother will heal their kingdom and bring Hope back who must live happily ever after. Afterward Rebekah puts Hope to bed and paced Klaus' wood knight in her cradle. Hope is also mentioned by her parents and uncle in New Orleans. When Elijah tries to clean up Hope's nursery Hayley gets pissed off about him and orders him to stop. However later she destroys the nursery after killing Francesca because she needs her daughter back and nothing can soften her pain. Later Klaus confesses to Elijah that all is his fault and that he should have accepted Hayley's pregnancy - and now his daughter is away from him. He then goes try to comfort Hayley who tells that without her daughter she can be in peace and Klaus swears that she will have Hope in her arms again.

In Alive and Kicking, Hope's parents spoke about her during their trip in The Bayou. Hayley explains that she can't be the Queen of the werewolves because she is destroyed - she cries all day, each day and can't stop thinking about how much she misses Hope. Klaus says that he knows how she feels and Hayley accuses him of not think about Hope. Klaus answers that he thinks about her every time and can only be eased by killing those who would hurt her. This leads Hayley to find her wolf people. Earlier Hayley also feeds from witches because they tried to kill Hope. It's also shown that Hope's newly resurrected grandmother doesn't know that her granddaughter lives.

In Every Mother's Son, Hayley says that she will be glad to kill Esther as she wanted to kill Hope. However, when Klaus tells her his mother's story, Hayley comes to understand a little about Esther, because she is out of her mind about having to give Hope to Rebekah and can't imagine if her child was dead. This was why Esther lived when Hayley meets her. And later Esther proposes to switch bodies and Hayley thinks about it because she wants to give a normal life to Hope.

In Wheel Inside the Wheel, after a day of discussion with her son (and the resurrection of Ansel), Esther does not understand why Klaus continues to refuse her offer of switching bodies. Annoyed by his mother's questions about why he still scorns her Klaus ends up spinning her against walls in Elijah's cell and tells her that he only feels a pure and intense hatred about her as she came after his child, his daughter, his and also her blood. Esther tries to reason with Klaus, but he gets only more angry and repeats "my child". She then tries to use magic but Klaus seems only be affected by it during a few seconds, still focusing about Hope. He then tells to her mother that to be coming after Hope he will make her pay as only himself can do - as his mother's son. It's also revealed that to have children, Esther deals with her older sister Dahlia (as at this time she has stopped using magic). But in part of the deal, Esther will have to give to her sister every first born of each generation of her bloodline, which includes Hope as the first and only grandchild of Esther. And this is the reason of why Esther wanted to kill Hope - but it's still unclear if she also tried to do it to "save" her granddaughter from Dahlia.

In Chasing the Devil's Tail, Ansel explained to Klaus that he knew that his child is alive - as he can feel the call of his blood as the wolf. He also said that he wanted help Klaus to protect her, but fearing that Esther will use Ansel to get to his "little girl" he explained to his father that he cannot fail his daughter and must protect her to all the cost. And Klaus finally killed his own father as he didn't want that his selfish wish of a father made his daughter in danger. Later, he awakened Elijah by speaking about Hope - as in the children's history they are monsters, but not his Hope's. In Hope's story their are knights and that without Elijah, Klaus can't survive to his own love for his child. Elijah finally emerged and comforted Klaus about Ansel - telling that for Hope all the sacrifice can and must be made.

In The Brothers That Care Forgot, Rebekah takes Hope to the park. Rebekah is pushing her on the swing when she notices her mother's starlings staring at her. Rebekah believes her mother has found them so she rings Elijah. Elijah meets with Rebekah in the diner and he holds Hope. Rebekah notices a worrying change in Elijah and when she goes to give Hope a diaper change she sees he has killed people in the diner. So she puts Hope in her carrier and she snaps Elijah's neck to keep Hope safe.

As her aunt began to prepare the home for the Holidays they are all outside of the home waiting for Hope's parents. As Elijah is hesitant to carry her in his arms, Rebekah encourages him saying that all he did was for Hope. They then discuss of their family dynamic but are stopped when Klaus' car arrives. Hayley is seen jumping out of the car and she runs to her daughter before stops. Elijah gives Hope to her and after holding her daughter against her, she passes her to Klaus and they stay all the three. Later Rebekah and Hayley decide to hold the Bonfire ceremony for Hope, and as she is with her father she is taken by her mother to assist to her first Bonfire. After the ceremony the all family takes a photo that they are forced to burn in order to protect Hope and Rebekah decides to take down their mother so their family could be together. As her uncle, aunt and father discuss of their plan she is fed by her mother and stays with her and Elijah when Klaus and Rebekah go back to meet with Esther.

In Gonna Set Your Flag On Fire, Hope is taken by her mother from her cradle and then rejoined her uncle in the kitchen. She is then introduced to Cami by her parents later as they had to go back in the Quarter. Hope is then left to the care of her uncle Elijah.

While out with Hope, Cami removes her band-aid from her head and discovers her cut is healed. On the way back to the house, Hope stops the car engine and seconds later the house goes up in flames. Hope then turns the car's engine on again. Cami looks at her shocked.

In They All Asked For You, Hope is seen with Hayley. Hayley can't seem to settle her so Jackson offers a helping hand. He manages to soothe Hope and she falls asleep.

In Save My Soul, Hope is seen sleeping in her crib. As she is sleeping, Dahlia's humming is heard.

In Exquisite Corpse, Hope is crying in her crib and Eva Sinclair goes near her. Hayley arrives and lunges at Eva to get away from her. After Eva leaves the compound, both Klaus and Hayley look down in her crib and she is laying down calmly and completely at ease. After Elijah, Gia, and Hayley talk to Josephine, Hope is in Hayley's arms and she threatens to kill Eva even if it is Rebekah or not, so Eva won't go after Hope. Klaus also reveals to Esther that Hope is alive not dead as she had thought.

In Night Has A Thousand Eyes, Jackson, Hayley, and Hope are walking down the street and Dahlia temporarily possesses the flower salesman and Jackson, proclaiming that she is there and she intends to take what is hers. Afterward, Hayley and Jackson plan to leave town with Hope to make sure Dahlia doesn't come after her. Marcel spots them and they later go back to where they were.

In When the Levee Breaks, Dahlia is still searching for Hope. She then comes to the safe place Hope is living and talks to Hayley trying to convince her to deliver Hope to her and Hayley refuses this idea.

In City Beneath The Sea, Hope is at the bayou with her mom and the wolves. Elijah then comes and collects some of her blood to protect her. Hayley then delivers a message to the Mikaelsons saying she doesn't want Hope to be one of them.

In Fire with Fire, Klaus comes for her. After cursing the wolves and Hayley he finds Hope and tells her everything is going to be okay.

In Ashes to Ashes, Klaus daggers himself and Dahlia to give his siblings more time to save Hope. Freya wakes up and calls Rebekah who tells Elijah she is with Hope in the woods. Later on, Dahlia manages to get some of Hope's blood which makes Hope upset. Klaus then leaves Hope somewhere safe with Cami while he kills Dahlia and Esther. After this Klaus tells Hope a bedtime story resuming all that happened during season 2 and explains to her how there is always another chapter to be told.

In For the Next Millennium, Hope is still being raised by her father. Elijah takes her to see Hayley once a month.

Vincent sends Hayley a note, via a spell, telling her that he knows how to cure her though she needs to come back to New Orleans.

In Keepers of the House, Klaus stays with Hope taking care of her while Hayley goes to New Orleans to find the source of Hope's sickness. TO502-005-Young Hope

Hope uses magic in a flashback

In One Wrong Turn On Bourbon, she listens to music as a flashback shows her using magic to contact her father, but is told to go away. She notices the flowers on her nightstand shrivel and die, and knows that her father is at the compound. She runs so that she can see him, but he senses her and leaves, leaving her disappointed. After waking up to get ready for the day, she hears something at her window and it's Roman. She invites him in and they began talking about Henry and her leaving. She later goes to Rousseau's and sees that Declan is being attacked by her father, and stops him using magic. They also argue at the compound while she uses magic to keep him from leaving and she tells him to just go since he can't be around her. It also revealed around this time that she is the one responsible for her mother's disappearance and wants to fix her mistakes. She also talks to Henry as he's been locked up in the Garden and tells him to be calm. At the compound, she and her father talk as it's revealed that her mother has truly gone missing when she is not at the place she put her in with a cloaking spell. After this, she vomits up a snake as she and her father have been around too long. She then gets ready to leave for Mystic Falls with Roman, but they hear a scream and run to where they hear it. They see that Henry has his heart extracted and his body hanging from a balcony.

In Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, she is in her room listening to music and sees that Freya has come to visit. When Freya notices the ancient spells on the floor, Hope tells her it's to catch up. They talk and walk around the grounds, and Hope notices Roman playing a soccer game with others. When Roman waves at her, she doesn't and Freya asks why. She tells her it won't harm his ego and then explains about the spells on the floor to her. She says she wants to find a way to break the cloaking spell and find her mother. They head to an abandoned house and they try to do a spell, but Hope's palm heals quickly. She then notices that Freya already knew about it and her reluctance. She is then told by Freya that the witches think she'll destroy New Orleans. She gets angry at Freya and when telling her to leave, she uses pyrokinesis and then puts it out. She then sees that Freya was right about the first-borns of their family having devastating power. She then looks out the window at night and Roman appears. She tells him about her mother and what she found about from Freya about what the witches in New Orleans think. They are then interrupted by Freya and he walks off, leaving them to talk more.

In Don't It Just Break Your Heart, she is seen practicing climbing in the abandoned house and talks to Freya about triggering her werewolf side. Afterward, she goes to her room and finds Roman inside. She tells him about triggering the werewolf side and he tells her about desiccating in a cave for an unknown amount of time. Sometime later, she and Roman talk again and she kisses him since she may not make it from binding her werewolf gene. She and Freya begin the spell and before it is completed, Klaus arrives and takes the bowl of blood away, leaving Hope conflicted. She and Roman talk more again and they decide to head to New Orleans.

In What, Will, I, Have, Left, she and Roman are on the road acting goofy and talking. She feels that she's being tracked by a witch and gets out of the car for a few minutes. She decides to put both of their phones on the ground and they continue to their destination. They arrive at the abandoned Shiloh Place and notices he's acting somewhat agitated. She watches as he knocks over a glass, causing the barrier spell to deactivate. She walks in and no sooner, she sees her mother strapped to a chair. She runs to her and wonders why she's at the house, turning around to have Roman place the witch shackles on her, canceling her powers. She asks him what's going on and Hayley tells her that he's the one who led the others to her in the church attic. She then realizes that Roman got into her head to find out her mother's location and is shocked to find out Greta is his mom. She tells her mother about Henry and listens as she is told what Greta wants to do with her and her mother, given their hybrid status, clearly upset. While Roman is outside on the phone with his sister, she talks to Hayley, telling her she was going to go through with the binding spell until Klaus stopped her. She listens when her mother tells her about turning into a wolf and they think of a plan. She watches as Hayley goes through with the binding spell and while Hayley kills the witch, Hope breaks Roman's neck. They began to go out the door before Hope realizes that Hayley can't as she's just a vampire and doesn't have a daylight ring. She listens as her mother tells her that purists are afraid that she'll unite the factions one day, telling her go and they embrace. As Hope turns around to go, Greta appears in front of her and blows some dust on her, knocking Hope unconscious.

In God's Gonna Trouble the Water, she wakes up in her dorm room while Freya is watching over her and wonders where her mother is, and cries when she finds out she's dead. She prepares for her mother's funeral, clearly upset about everything happening. As she waits for the walk down in the street, she wonders where everyone is and Freya tells her about her father's astral projection, while Vincent and Marcel should be there. She waves at Josh and is upset that Freya hasn't told Declan since he's in Ireland. She looks around and wonders where all her mother's friends are, getting upset about many things. When Freya tries to get her out of harm's way when Emmett and his vampires show up, she pushes her back and sets one of the truck's on fire, killing the vampires inside. She begins an incantation for the other van until Josh moves her before Emmett can kill her.

At the compound, she is very upset and is angry at her father for not being there. When he tries to talk to her, she tells him to go and pushes his astral projection out. Later in the evening, Hope goes to the Bayou for her mother's funeral and tells Freya they have to save their family. She asks Freya to put her mother's necklace on and is happy to see that Vincent, Josh, Marcel, and Keelin have shown up. She listens as Freya gives her eulogy and as her mother's body is lit on fire, she tells her goodbye. She is then surprised to see her father beside her and a storm begins to ensue. She tells him she's going to fix it and while crying, she tells him she loves him too, watching him leave.

In The Kindness of Strangers, while not appearing in the present, she is seen in flashbacks and photos. While her father and family are in the Chambre de Chasse, she performs a spell to extract the Hollow from them and into herself.

In We Have Not Long To Love, she is at the dinner table with her father and Freya and gets angered when Elijah walks in. When he tries to talk to her, she starts magically bending a fork and quickly walks out. She begins to paint and tells her father that she's fine and starts hearing the voices in her head again. She gets upset when the voices won't stop and Klaus decides to put her old bracelet on, trying to seal away the dark magic inside her temporarily. Unfortunately, the bracelet begins to burn her skin and she takes it off, which causes the bracelet to catch on fire. She decides to go to Rousseau's to talk to Declan and sees that Elijah is there. She angrily wonders what he's doing and he tells her to knock Declan unconscious as he knows things are going to get worse. She tells Elijah she hates him and he says he hates himself too, her eyes temporarily glow the blue color the Hollow had, and magically claws him repeatedly on his body. Klaus arrives and at the compound, she tells him that the voices stopped when she began to commit the violence against Elijah. He tells her that if the violence helps, then he's the right person to come to.

In There in the Disappearing Light, she is trying to feel better by taking out her anger against Klaus, but she says it isn't working and he isn't the one she wants to take her anger out on. While underneath the Abattoir, Hope gets ready to torture Roman since he was one of the people responsible for her mother's death. Roman tries to tell her he's been wanting to talk to her and that while he's sorry for what happened, she doesn't have to forgive him, and she listens to this. She then gets angry when Roman tries to compare his mother to hers, and she wonders what's happening to her as marks begin to creep up on her arm. She goes to Klaus about what's happening and while he tries to tell her to kill Roman, she doesn't want to and she frees him. After Elijah and Antoinette gather Emmett and his vampires, Hope comes in and releases all the dark magic, killing them all. Unfortunately, the blast also injures Declan and she is fearful she might've killed him, which would trigger her curse. As she and Roman talk, she tells him to leave and she begins to feel pain, and her eyes glow, triggering her curse due to Bill's death.

In Til the Day I Die, she is at the cemetery laying a flower on Bill's memorial, Klaus comes to see her and he tries to comfort her but it doesn't work, she always feels bad. She says that what she did didn't help because the dark line is back and evokes the transformation she must do without her mother, Klaus offers his help but she answers that for now she needs to be alone, so he leaves her. Davina later comes to the cemetery to talk to her, she tells her that she is not well and that she doesn't want to attend Freya's wedding because her guilt will ruin the day but Davina retorts that it's her absence which will ruin the day and that even if it's hard she must live the moment. At the wedding, she was a speech on the fact that this day was the best because they were all together and she had the impression to be part of the "Always and Forever". In the evening when Klaus comes to see her in her bedroom to find out how she is doing, she answers that she is amused today, forgetting for a moment all the troubles of her life but will never forget that she killed someone, she also says that she is afraid of transformation and is glad that Klaus will be present.

In The Tale of Two Wolves, Hope has to await her first transformation and is told she may not survive the process due to The Hollow slowly killing her from within. After a day out with Elijah and a dance with Landon, Hope joins Klaus, Alaric, and his daughters as part of a ritual to extract the Hollow from her, which can only be done while she is in middle of transforming. While Lizzie and Josie are chanting, the transformation begins and Hope is brought to her knees from her bones breaking and pain resulting from it. Klaus tells her that the first transformation usually takes hours but by embracing the transformation and pain instead of fighting it, the process will be faster. True to his word, Hope transform completely into her wolf form in a matter of moments and has the Hollow extracted from her successfully. Hope in wolf form stares at her father, who looks on her with a smile before witnessing her run into the forest.

In When The Saints Go Marching In, she stops her father from killing himself and they go back to New Orleans. She's worried about her father and his condition and tries to go after him when he gets loose from his cell. She finds him in the city and while he is tempted by the Hollow, he goes with her back to the compound. They have dinner with their family and try to enjoy themselves with their remaining time left. She and her father then talk alone and they say their goodbyes, both very upset about what is going to happen. She then joins her family when Klaus leaves and later, she is shown to be painting a picture of her family.

While talking, a slug slithers towards Hope and attaches itself to her boot, and then goes into her nose. During the day, she acts out of character towards many of her friends and colleagues, which makes them wonder. While Landon is in the kitchen, she helps him out and tries to play him into getting the urn and going on a road trip. After she pulls the switch, she gets electrocuted and the slug pops out, with Landon killing it, and leaving Hope disgusted. After going to Dorian with Landon and talking to him about the slug, Dorian tells them that it can replicate and had used the unicorn as a host. They use a light to see where the slugs have gone and who they are controlling, seeing that everyone is in the auditorium, and they lock the doors so they won't come after them. They run into Lizzie and interrogate her until they see she couldn't be controlled due to the bracelet on her giving her electric shocks anytime she says something mean. After reuniting with Alaric and Emma, Emma uses a spell to send an electric shock throughout the students and teachers to get the slugs out of them. After the talent show, Hope listens to Landon singing a song to her and happily enjoys it.

LGC112-103-Josie-Hope-Lizzie-Alaric~Mummy

In There's a Mummy on Main Street, she accompanies Alaric, Emma, Dorian, Kaleb, Josie and Lizzie on a trip to Maple Hallows to retrieve the urn. While on the way there, Hope has brief arguments with Lizzie and when they arrive, she joins up with Josie and Lizzie to talk to the townspeople. After Josie is bitten and a boil appears, they see a swarm of locusts and go for cover in a shop. After the locusts disappear, they go to the sight where the FEMA team is helping the citizens. She avoids contact with the mysterious man she and Alaric met in Kansas and mentions this to him. She and Alaric are then confronted by the man and he shows his name as Ryan Clarke. He also reveals he knows about them being from Mystic Falls and Alaric's school for the supernatural. When Alaric strikes a deal with Ryan, Hope, Alaric, Josie and Lizzie head to town to confront the mummy that has caused the plagues. When Alaric, Hope and Lizzie are plagued, Josie saves them by using a fireball to destroy the mummy. They return to the sight and Hope talks to the group afterwards, with Lizzie arguing still with her. When it's revealed that the mummy hasn't been completely defeated yet, she watches as Lizzie and Josie siphon the scarab of the curse, thereby defeating the mummy once and for all. On the ride home, she and Lizzie talk more, and when Hope tells her that it wasn't her who did those awful things, they both look at Josie, who has a guilty look. After the ordeal, Hope wants to find out why Josie lied and when she hears that Josie had a crush on her, she is shown smiling.

LGC113-111-Hope

In The Boy Who Still Has a Lot of Good to Do, Hope learns that Landon, Rafael and MG have disappeared, she immediately thinks they are dead because her location spell doesn't work. Looking around the school with Alaric, they find Rafael but he doesn't remember what happened. Back in Rafael's bedroom, his traumatic state reinforces Hope's idea that something very bad has happened then Emma wants Hope to come out but in the hallway she's panic. When she comes back she really wants to know what happened, she prepares an elixir that would allow Rafael to have access to his werewolf memories what Emma refuses because she prefers to make the state of Rafael more calm. However Rafael makes Emma sleep and accepts Hope's solution. He tells what happened in Maryland and they find MG who's wounded in the woods, Rafael would have bit, it's also when seeing MG that Rafael remembers everything. MG killed Landon because he was very angry with him and was out of control. Hearing this, Hope is crying. Kaleb dreads the fact that Hope doesn't agree to cure MG but she does. Later she joins Rafael near the dead body of Landon, when MG joins them Rafael wants revenge but Hope stops him, saying that's not what Landon would have wanted. When Landon resuscitates, she's as surprised as the others.

In Let's Just Finish the Dance, Hope struggles with the trauma of witnessing Landon's death, which in turns causes her magic to become unstable, leading to her accidentally attack Landon in her room and then later Alaric in the gym while they train together.

While preparing the school for the Miss Mystic Falls Pageant, she's surprised at Roman Sienna's return. Unable to run, Lizzie asks Hope to enter the Miss Mystic Falls pageant on her behalf rather than Josie. Hope and Landon clash over his jealousy of Roman during rehearsals and her magic grows unstable. About to lose control, Lizzie grabs her and tells her to come with her. Despite her protests, Hope goes with her and they go to the Old Mill and Lizzie explains to her that she noticed the signs of her having a breakdown. She gets Hope to scream so she could get out her frustrations, something that ends up working.

As the day progresses, they talk more on the pageant before Landon appears, with Hope asking who should apologize in this instance and Lizzie tells her always the boyfriend in moments of jealously. Landon approaches her, making attempts to reconcile until he catches sight of a statue that is revealed to be MG's mom, to their shock - a new creature is on the loose on the Salvatore grounds.

File:LGC114-115-Hope-Roman.png

Hope and Roman at the pageant.

Hope is practicing her answers for the pageant questions in the twins' room and is given a dress by Lizzie that belonged to Caroline. Before the dance, she meets up with Landon and asks if he is alright, noticing that he seems tense. Landon tells her that Penelope informed him about her keeping secrets from him regarding his mother. He asks her if it is true but she is unable to answer him, visibly shaken by this. Landon is upset that Hope has been lying to him and storms out. She is about to leave when Roman stops her and becomes her escort in Landon's stead. During the dance, she is still guilty about Landon and sees Josie and Lizzie argue, wondering why they are doing so. She has Roman tell her and is speechless to hear that the dress was a gift her father gave the twins' mother. Overcome with emotions, she nearly loses control of her magic, which would have exposed the school, but Lizzie steps in, again, and hugs her, covering her near outburst. Lizzie tells Hope to cry it out and Hope cries in Lizzie's arms.

Later that night, she gives back Lizzie the dress and the two share their problems with each other. They then make a pact, Hope will help Lizzie reconcile with Josie and in exchange Lizzie will help Hope fix her relationship with Landon.

In I'll Tell You a Story, Hope is concerned when Alaric shows her the voicemail Landon left previously for her. She is unaware that this voicemail was forced, however, she believes it to be strange that Landon would say hello to Jed, given their mutual distaste for each other. She finds it concerning that Alaric and Emma do not share her worries.

Later that date, in return for a prism that allows subconscious interaction, Hope helps bake a cake for Lizzie, and also gives her a book titled "The History of the Gemini Coven" to help aid Josie in her discovery of the Merge. She eventually asks her aunt Freya about the Merge, and shocked by what she hears, she tells Alaric that he should tell his daughters before she does.

LGC115-131~Prism Landon-Hope

Hope talks with her subconscious.

Hope later uses the prism numerous times, however, she is bemused by the results that the prism gives her. She believes it to be wrongly interpreting her feelings; she remarks that imaginary Landon is just as annoying as he is. Later, she uses the prism and interacts with "Landon" again, eventually revealing that she loves him, and was fearful that he would leave her — similar to how the rest of her family have. Eventually, her subconscious tells her that she knows he is in danger, and this prompts her to go looking for Landon.

In There's Always a Loophole,

LGC201-028-Hope

The vortex attempts to suck Hope in

In I'll Never Give Up Hope, Hope is seen wondering cluelessly around Malivore having been consumed previously. She uses magic to light her way in the endless darkness, only to find that a vortex opens, sucking her in. Before she can be sucked in however, she is pulled back down into the darkness by Ryan Clarke. Believing herself to be dead, she questions what Clarke is doing in her Peace, but Clarke laughs, admitting that they are not at peace, nor are they in Hell, but inside Malivore. He laughs at the fact that Hope has wasted her life as she has not been able to destroy Malivore, but does reveal that her consumption has harmed him, allowing all of the creatures absorbed to roam freely within. Clarke tells Hope that he can help her, but she rebukes him and uses a mimic spell, forcing him to leave her alone.

LGC201-074-Hope-Ryan

Hope casts a calming spell.

Following this, another vortex opens within Malivore and tries to suck Hope in. Clarke tells Hope that the vortex will destroy her and begs her to break the mimic spell so that he can help her, to which she obliges. They are then approached by a dragon which attempts to kill them, but Hope is able to scare it away. Hope questions how long they have been in Malivore, but Clarke does not know and tells her that it could be a month or a year. The dragon returns and Hope jokes that she has vanquished one before, laughing at Clarke asking how a super-villain could be scared. Clarke admits that he has never been a villain, just a boy who was scared of his father and would do anything to get away from him. Feeling his unease, Hope casts a calming spell to alleviate Clarke's worries. Another vortex opens, and Clarke again prevents it from sucking in Hope, and the two are surrounded by Shadow Creatures, forcing Hope to make the two of them invisible.

LGC201-050-Hope

The vortex is successfully able to expel Hope

Hope admits that she has figured out that a vortex opens each time she practices magic and the problem is that she has never fully activated her vampire side therefore cannot kill Malivore. Clarke agrees, admitting that Malivore is trying to expel her, but he will not allow Clarke to go and therefore closes the vortex each time he attempts to escape with her. He begs Hope to help him escape, but she declines and when the next vortex opens, she allows herself to be sucked up and released from Malivore.

LGC201-117-Troll

A troll from Malivore comes after Hope

Hope finds herself outside of the Salvatore School, where she bumps into Dorian Williams, who questions who she is and if she is alright. She admits that she is but is looking for someone, with Dorian admitting that all of the students have gone home for the summer. With this, she lets herself into the school when Dorian is gone. Looking for Landon, she witnesses him kissing Josie in the woods behind the school, which causes her to cry. Feeling heartbroken, she buys a bus ticket out of the town and conjures up her subconscious to talk with Landon using the prism she has gotten from Emma. Her subconsciousness, in the form of Landon, tells her not to leave town as Landon would more than likely want to know about her. She agrees, but before she can safely return to the school she is confronted by another creature from Malivore.

In This Year Will Be Different, Hope tracks down the creature from the previous episode to Mystic Falls High School. She bumps into Ethan, and makes up the lie that she is looking for the Principal, and is shocked when Ethan points out that Alaric is the Principal. In his office, Alaric examines Hope's file — which he is unaware is fake — and tells her that she needs to enroll if she plans to stay in Mystic Falls. Alaric offers Hope support, questioning if she is alright, however she brushes him off insisting that she is fine.

She goes to the bathroom to collect herself and bumps into Maya, who offers counsel on her "boy troubles". She leaves the bathroom shortly after to follow the smell and again bumps into Alaric, who she throws to the ground accidentally, unaware that it was him. Alaric questions who she is and she reveals that she is a vampire hunter and Alaric remarks that he is well known within the hunter community. Alaric suggests that Hope leave the hunting to him as he has more experience, but she shrugs him off.

Whilst Alaric prepares his crossbow, Hope prepares an artificial sunlight bomb to use on the creature, who she assumes is a troll. The two meet again in the basement of the school when Hope saves Alaric after he is attacked by the creature. Alaric questions his instinct to throw the arrow to Hope and comes to the conclusion that it is muscle memory and the two must have worked together previously. Back in his office, Hope questions why Alaric is no longer at the Salvatore School, but he dismisses the idea as a long story. Alaric tells Hope that he has gathered that she is not actually "Hope Marshall" and her cover story is a lie, a notion which she confirms willingly. Hope tells Alaric that he will return at sun down to help him dispose of the creature.

When she returns, Alaric has come to the conclusion that she must have something to do with Malivore, to which she also confirms. The two are shocked to find that the creature is gone, hinting to the fact that it is not a troll. The two go to look for the creature, but Hope is distracted when she notices Landon and Josie returning from their date in the distance. Hope later saves Landon from the creature who attempts to attack him whilst he is sat on a bench in the Town Square. Alaric and Hope defeat the creature, which turns out to be a cyclops, with Landon turning just in time to meet Hope's eyes, perhaps recognizing her from his visions — despite this, neither of them interact and Hope leaves. The two later sit together to discuss their respective heartbreaks, with Landon wishing Hope well but ultimately leaving her heartbroken and alone.

Feeling alone in the world, Hope goes to Alaric's office and confesses everything, revealing that she is in fact the daughter of Hayley Marshall-Kenner and Klaus, and a Mikaelson. She begins to break down crying, revealing that Alaric was the closest thing that she had to a father. She hugs him and Alaric promises that they will figure everything out together.

In You Remind Me of Someone I Used to Know, Hope walks through the campus of Mystic Falls High School as Sheriff Mac arrives. Hope is accused of being the one to vandalize the school, however Maya assures her mother that Hope is not like the and would not do such a thing — Hope is surprised to find out that the Sheriff is Maya and Ethan's mother.

During the game, Hope and Landon interact once again, and Josie notices this. Concerned with Hope talking with her boyfriend, Josie enquires if the two know each other, with Landon remarking that they shared a milkshake together previously. When Landon walks off, Josie sarcastically makes a remark about having another milkshake moment, but Hope ignores her. During the beginning of the annual charity football game, Hope notices that Professor Vardemus is using magic to ensure the coin-flip always lands in favor of the Salvatore Stallions.

During the match, Hope makes it clear that she is eager to leave the match early to search for Rafael Waithe, however Alaric tells her that they cannot draw too much attention to her. Soon after, she is injured by Landon when he tackles her, giving her the perfect opportunity to leave and seek medical help. She enters Landon and Rafael's bedroom inside the Salvatore School, looking for something of Rafael's in order to perform a locator spell; whilst here, she reminisces over times spent with Landon. Unfortunately, she is caught by Landon who questions her over the ordeal, and she is forced to reveal that she is a witch and is looking for Rafael. The two agree to look together, much to Hope's dismay.

In the woods behind the Salvatore School, the two manage to track down the shunka, and Landon panicks when it confronts them. Hope manages to draw the shunka away by turning into a werewolf — which confuses Landon — long enough for Landon to find Rafael. Landon finds Rafael and with Hope's help they are able to return him to human form. Following this, they manage to kill the shunka, but Hope leaves shortly after, leaving Landon and Rafael questioning who she is.

In Since When Do You Speak Japanese?, Alaric calls Hope to his office over the school speaker system. He asks her what she has revealed to Landon, as he left a note on his desk with questions. Hope reveals that she told him she was a witch, but nothing further. She reveals that her and Landon were in love with one another, a fact that Alaric was unaware of. Alaric suggests that she transfer to the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted where she can better keep an eye on Landon and protect him, however she declines.

Hope later steps in between Landon and Rafael when Rafael begins acting aggressively towards him — due to the oni's possession. She and Landon later lock Rafael in the back of the trunk before consulting Alaric. Josie and Kurutta arrive later and Josie questions what Hope is doing at the scene. Hope witnesses as Kurutta explains his history, but does not interact with him directly. Hope later enters the changing rooms at Mystic Falls High on alert from Sheriff Mac that Rafael needs help. Hope is able to calm him down, but he doesn't remember being possessed by the oni.

In Alaric's office — where Josie has placed a boundary spell to keep Landon safe — Hope reveals everything to Landon, including that they were in love and she went into Malivore to save him. He is surprised, but throws Hope into a filing cabinet, revealing himself to be possessed by the oni. Josie and Alaric arrive shortly after, blaming Hope for letting Landon escape, however the two do a locator spell to find Landon.

In the Town Square, Hope and Josie arrive to find Landon dead, having been killed by Lizzie, and Lizzie shackled to a tree, possessed by the oni. Hope watches as Lizzie begs Josie to kill her with Kurruta's blade, ending the oni and her suffering. Josie and Hope both refuse, however. Seeing that Landon is dead, Hope takes him to the woods. When he resurrects, he questions why Hope is the one he sees every time he comes back to life, however she dodges the question and leaves him in the woods.

Hope and Alaric bury Kurutta in the woods, and Alaric thanks Hope for being there for his daughters, revealing that he lost sight of what really matters — his daughters. Hope tells Alaric that she won't go back to the Salvatore School as she fears that Landon will still want to be with Josie.

In Screw Endgame, Lizzie walks to the Town Square, where she finds Hope stretching, and reveals that she remembers her following the blast of magic from Josie. The two talk, but Lizzie tells Hope that they don't have time as Landon and Josie are planning on having sex that night. They try to formulate a plan, but are interrupted when a woman appears from the Malivore portal, claiming to be "the Keeper", and welcomes them to "the game". The two are confused when she disappears, however when they try to cross the road, they are knocked down by a passing car, with Hope announcing that the game has begun.

LGC205-023-Hope-Lizzie

The two awaken after being killed by a hairdryer.

The two are killed multiple more times as they attempt to gather clues, but eventually realize that they are trapped in an alternate version of the 80s, where magic does not work. They eventually manage to find a "clue store", where they meet with the Keeper from earlier. The Keeper explains that they can only escape the game if one of them chooses to take her place, and the other will be set free; alternately, they will both be eaten by the minotaur. The two refuse to accept the deal, and flee, making the Keeper angry as the two are chased away by the minotaur.

LGC205-079-Hope-Lizzie

Lizzie knocks out Hope.

Hope and Lizzie spend the rest of the day talking about Hope and why she didn't reveal herself to everyone when she returned from Malivore. Hope reveals that she feels the rest of the school is better off without her, however Lizzie tells her that this is not true. Hope suggests that she stay behind, under the premise that a monster cannot come from Malivore if one remains, however Lizzie disagrees and knocks her out, attempting to take the Keeper's deal. Hope awakens not long after, wondering where Lizzie has gone, however Lizzie returns having rejected the Keeper's deal after realizing Hope would die. The two kill the minotaur, which ends the game and returns them to Mystic Falls, along with the Keeper. They go the dance but Hope decides not to stop Landon. She tells this to Lizzie and they hug at their reunion.

LGC206-018-Hope-Ethan

Hope and Ethan hang out.

In That's Nothing I Had to Remember, Hope grows closer with Ethan as they prepare for Commonwealth Day, and Ethan tells Hope to ask him out if she ever wishes to spend time with him. Lizzie tells Hope that the two need to spend more time together, as she feels she will blow Hope's secret if she spends any time with Landon — Hope laughs at this idea, as the two would never have been seen together previously.

LGC206-057-Hope~Rafael

Things grow awkward between Hope and Rafael.

Hope and Rafael also spend a considerable amount of time together when the Salvatore School Group split up into groups to find the croatoan. Rafael tells her that it is nice to get away for a while, and is open to a relationship with her as he is not afraid of technicalities. However she shrugs him off, not wanting to reveal too much about herself to him in fears that her secret will be exposed.

Hope later helps destroy the croatoan with help from MG, Sebastian and Lizzie, whose memories are returned by Josie when she arrives back in Mystic Falls. Landon questions why she didn't tell him, however she dismisses him, not wanting to talk about it right at that moment. MG meets up with them and gives her a necklace which she de-spells, finally defeating the croatoan. She then turns to face Landon to talk but he is too upset to talk and walks away without saying a word, leaving her visibly sad.

LGC206-145-Hope-Freya

Freya and Hope embrace.

Realizing that things can never happen between him and Hope — due to her past relationship with Landon — Rafael breaks the news to her at the Commonwealth celebrations. Rafael tells her that the two should stay away from each other, which upsets Hope, causing her to cry. She is happy to find that Freya has made a trip from New Orleans to see her, and the two embrace.

In It Will All Be Painfully Clear Soon Enough,

In This Christmas Was Surprisingly Violent, Hope asks Lizzie to track down and bring Landon back to the Salvatore School. She is hesitant at first, however eventually goes along with the plan.

Meanwhile at the school, Hope notices that everyone — except her — is a little too merry. She tries to figure out what monster could be causing this, and eventually resorts to trusting Ryan Clarke to help her in this. Tensions between the two rise when Clarke throws a wish into the fire, and Hope demands to know what he wished for; he eventually tells her, as the krampus arrives at the school. Hope is eventually able to shock everyone out of their merriness, just in time for the revelation that Santa is real. She watches him fight and kill Krampus.

Hope struggles trusting Clarke after the arrival of the krampus, but eventually casts a truth spell on him after he promises to close the Malivore portal. The two share a phone call, and Clarke tells her that he doesn't hate her — an adverse effect of the truth spell.

When Landon returns to the Salvatore School, Hope asks if the two can talk, and Landon agrees that they should. He talks with Josie first, however, breaking things off with her. After his talk with Josie, he tells Hope that he loves her, and she returns the sentiment, with the two kissing under the mistletoe shortly after; this signals the relationship between the two restarting.

LGC209-116-Mora Miserium

Hope and Josie cast a protection spell on the Mora Miserium.

In I Couldn't Have Done This Without You, Hope aids Josie in a spell to slow down the mora miserium's degradation. She explains to Josie that an old friend taught her about mora miseriums and how to slow them down; she reveals, however, that magic cannot stop the sand clock from shattering. Once the protection spell is cast, Hope and Josie talk about what is bothering her, and Josie tells Hope that she doesn't know why Clarke chose her, but Hope tells her that she is stronger than she thinks. Hope explains to Josie how she felt returning from Malivore and finding out her and Landon were together.

In This is Why We Don't Entrust Plans to Muppet Babies, tensions between Hope and Alyssa Chang increase as their room-sharing situation becomes increasingly complicated. These tensions are increased by the qareen, who causes issues around the Salvatore School, which eventually leads to tensions between Hope and Landon — they are able to ratify these, however, when they realize that they are being influenced by the qareen.

Eventually, the students of the Salvatore School are able to defeat the qareen, and Hope participates in casting the spell to create a new Prison World and ascendant. She then comes in to talk to Landon. She tells him she's not going to train him as she's afraid he'll get hurt or die in the process. He tells her he'll find someone else to train him instead, Later, when Josie and Lizzie are emotional, Hope sits with them and the three talk. Lizzie and Josie are whisked away to the 2018 Prison World, however, leaving Hope alone. She realizes that Alyssa has orchestrated the recent events and confronts her when she returns to their room.

In What Cupid Problem?, Hope struggles with the power dynamic in her relationship with Landon. She does not believe that Landon should continue to train to be a "hero", and finds it questionable when he believes he can fly. Their relationship comes to a low when Landon confesses to Pothos — who he wrongly believes to be Cupid — that he doesn't know why Hope chose him. She becomes increasingly angry when Landon, Wade, Pedro and Kaleb attempt to take down Pothos without her.

Meanwhile, she attempts to force the location of the ascendant from Alyssa Chang, who refuses to cooperate. Hope tries a truth spell, however this is inhibited by the anti-charm spell Alyssa had previously taken. She eventually teams up with MG and the two attempt to charm the location from her. MG crumbles under the pressure and asks Alyssa where she has hidden the ascendant. Alyssa shows him, but drops it on the floor, shattering it.

Eventually, Hope is confronted by Pothos, who wishes to eat her heart after stabbing her with one of his arrows. Landon interjects and reveals that there is nobody more he loves than Hope; she is moved by his declaration of love but watches as Pothos rips out and eats his heart. After he resurrects, the two embrace and their relationship troubles seem solved. Near the stairs, Hopes asks Landon if it was true that he did not know why she picked him. He admits he doesn't. She then shows him a list of reasons why she loves him that she wrote when she came back from Malivore. The two make out and it's shown that Landon can levitate, until they both drop to the floor laughing.

In You Can't Save Them All, Hope frantically attempts to find a way to rescue the Saltzmans from the Prison Worlds. She attempts to reconstruct the ascendant, however her efforts are futile. Eventually, when Malachai Parker visits the school under the guise of an old friend of Alaric's, he tells her that she can help, and she reluctantly agrees.

LGC213-126-Hope

Hope is able to convince Alyssa to stop the spell.

Hope talks with Alaric, Lizzie and Josie via astral projection, and Alaric warns her about Kai. Hope tells him that she believes he is already at the school, however, and Alaric warns her that he is dangerous and she must do all she can to lure him away from the school. When Hope returns from her astral projection, she is met by Kai, and she tells him that the projection did not work. Nevertheless, Kai tells her that she has been looking at the wrong ascendant and shows her that the ascendant is hidden within one of Alyssa's stuffed bears. Hope manages to lure Kai away to an abandoned warehouse, however he realizes and a fight breaks out between the two. Hope is able to tie Kai up, and he reveals that Alyssa is casting a spell to cut the ties between Kai and the Prison World, meaning that it would disappear, killing everyone there. He also tells her that Dorian is leading Landon to his death via the golden arrow and she only has chance to save one.

She ultimately decides to save the Saltzman Family, and is able to convince Alyssa — who is unaware that the spell would kill the Saltzmans — to stop the spell. Eventually, the Saltzmans return via Josie's spell, and Hope frantically rushes to find Landon. She is surprised to see that he can actually fly, but is revealed that he is alright.

LGC214-035-Hope~MG

Hope in the simulation.

In There's A Place Where The Lost Things Go, Hope participates in Emma Tig's simulation along with the other members of the Salvatore School Group. Inside, she is given the role of a bar owner ironically named "Landons". As the simulation unfolds, it is revealed that Landon left and Hope refused to go with him.

After some convincing, Hope locks up the bar in hopes of leaving Mystic Falls and going after Landon. She is interrupted by Lizzie, however, who tells her that her life is in danger. Hope dismisses Lizzie initially, but returns shortly after to help her in her battle against dark Josie.

Upon waking from the simulation, Hope talks with Rafael. She tells him that she believes the simulation was trying to tell her that something will always come between her and Landon and that, sometimes, she needs to choose the other thing over Landon.

In Life Was So Much Easier When I Only Cared About Myself, Hope, Kaleb and Jed formulate a plan to deal with Josie. Hope is concerned when Alaric suggests trapping Josie within another simulation, given she controlled the previous one. Alaric, however, assures Hope that he has increased the difficulty of the simulation. Hope's concerns are not alleviated, however and to get Alaric out of the way, she traps him within the simulation he himself created.

Hope talks with Lizzie over what Josie could be planning, and the two are startled when Josie reveals that the Merge will happen that night; Lizzie fears that she is not ready and will loose the Merge. Fearful that Lizzie will lose, Hope formulates a plan that would trap Josie within Lizzie's mind until a solution is found—the spell only works if Lizzie wins, however. Lizzie is concerned that she cannot win and runs away, which leads Hope to enact a plan-b.

Hope asks Landon to help with a plan-b, and when the plan is underway, Hope goes to fight with Josie whilst MG tries to convince Lizzie—who has run away in fear—to return and fight her sister. Lizzie eventually returns, but loses the Merge. Plan-b kicks in and is is revealed that Lizzie is in fact alive, given her life force was linked with Landon's. Hope, however, projected herself inside of Josie's subconscious whilst she was out.

In Facing Darkness is Kinda My Thing, Hope awakens in a princess-themed narrative inside of Josie's head. She is approached by a pig, who she questions about Josie. The pig tells Hope that Josie is asleep, and has put herself this way to stop the darkness. Hope is adamant that the pig take her to Josie but Hope is unable to wake her.

Later, when the darkness attacks Hope, it is revealed that Josie was disguised as the pig. Hope again battles with dark Josie but is incapacitated when she's turned to stone. Josie eventually wins against her darker self and wakes, but Hope does not for reasons unknown.

Personality

"I'm not scared. I'm a Mikaelson witch."
—Hope in High Water and a Devil's Daughter

Even when she was a baby, Hope was said to be a fighter. It was said by both of her parents; Hayley in Girl in New Orleans, where she said to her doctor that her daughter was a tough one just like herself, and by Klaus when he said that both Hayley and Hope were fighters in A Closer Walk With Thee. Both times it is implied that Hope inherited this trait from her mother who got it herself from her own father, Hope's maternal grandfather. She also seemed to be a very calm and happy baby. In Ashes to Ashes, Freya says that, like her paternal family, she is resilient.

She is also seemingly very intelligent as she was able to use her magic to turn Camille's car on and off, despite still being a baby.

As a young child, Hope was a kind and gentle girl. She had a sweet and innocent persona. She enjoyed helping innocent creatures and once used her magic to heal a butterfly's broken wing. She once expressed to her father that she was rather lonely, never having any other kids her own age to play with.

As a teenager, Hope is shown to be stubborn and brave as she was willing to put herself through extreme pain and possible death to get her mother back. Both Klaus and Caroline describe Hope as being smart, possibly too smart for her own good, like her father. It has been shown that Hope has gained one of her father's traits of doing whatever she can to protect her family. Hope is always offering to help to save those she cares about and considers family, including Marcel. However, once Hope magically absorbs the Hollow’s soul, it nearly drives her insane because she constantly starts to hear whispers of voices in her head. The only way she can end the madness going on inside her head is by committing acts of violence. Instead of taking her anger and frustrations out on innocents, she takes it out on those she deems not innocent (provided with her father's assistance). However, her desire to quell the voices by using violence and magic causes her to accidentally kill an innocent man. She struggled to come to terms with his death and refers to it as something that has stayed with her.

Hope struggles to forge meaningful connections with other people and make friends with the other students at the Salvatore School, not only because of her one-of-a-kind supernatural classification but also because she's already endured a lifetime of grief and heartbreak. To her peers, she seems closed off. She is forgiving to MG when she thought he killed her boyfriend Landon.

Due to her often disastrous past, she has resigned herself to isolation, considering it the path that will provide the least heartbreak in her life. She sees loneliness as less of a burden to bear than her formative experiences of loving so deeply and losing so terribly.[3] However, she has begun to open up more to people, tediously forming friendships and entering a romantic relationship. She is slowly becoming more optimistic that she will be happy.

Klaus: She has a hint of the Devil in her eyes — that's all me.
"
Klaus and Rebekah about Hope in From a Cradle to a Grave

As a baby, Rebekah mentioned that Hope looked like her mother. On the other hand, Klaus blissfully implied that Hope inherited his eyes. As a baby, she had dirty-blonde hair and round dark-blue eyes. As a child, she had long auburn hair and light blue eyes. Her cheeks had little freckles scattered across them. She was seen in light-colored sleeveless dresses, that normally had flowers or other prints on them. Hope also had dimples in her cheeks.

LGC206-019-Hope

As a teenager, Hope is the shortest among her friends and peers standing at 5'3" tall. She frequently wears heeled boots to accentuate her height or outfits. She has wavy auburn or dark brown hair that is seen in many styles. She has bright light-colored blue eyes and full lips. She wears relaxed yet edgy clothing that compliments her full, curvy figure. She is always seen wearing her mother's stone necklace, a Mikaelson family crest necklace, a wishbone necklace, and earrings. Caroline Forbes described her as beautiful. As a Labonair, Hope has a Crescent birthmark on her right shoulder, similar to that of her mother and distant relatives, Eve, Lana, and the Hollow.

In her wolf form, Hope possesses white fur and has the typical glowing yellow eyes that come with Lycanthropy.

Powers and Abilities

As the world's first hybrid of three supernatural species - a witch, a werewolf, and a vampire; the full extent and limits of Hope's powers are currently unknown.

However, as of There's Always a Loophole, Hope learns that she is not a cosmic mistake as she once thought. She is Nature's loophole that could be used against Malivore. Due to this, she can remember those that she previously knew and have been consumed by Malivore as well as heal others with her blood that have been shot with weaponized Malivore bullets.

Hope is a witch-hybrid, having inherited her witch gene from her father, the son of Esther Mikaelson. According to Dahlia, as a firstborn of their bloodline, Hope has inherited great, but devastating power. Dahlia also notes that Hope's magic will be tainted by Klaus' vampire blood as well as the aggressive wolf temperament. Despite this, Genevieve states that Hope's magic is strong enough to fuel the French Quarter Coven's ancestral power for generations, while one of the Hollow's acolytes reiterates this sentiment when he states that Hope might be the greatest witch the world may ever know.

As a baby, Hope demonstrated a heightened awareness of the impending explosion at her family's house and she used her magic to temporarily turn off Camille's car (as they were on their way there) to protect herself and Camille. She then used it again to turn the car back on.

After five years of being hidden from the world, Hope has been able to heal insect wings with no formal training, with her bracelet removed. However, Hope has stated that she figured some things about magic herself though has expressed that she cannot control it. She's also displayed a connection to the Hollow, drawing her sigil, the Ouroboros, though whether that was an inherent connection or the link that was used in an attempt to sacrifice her, remains to be known. Her connection to New Orleans soil, despite not being a Harvest girl or apparent knowledge of the Ancestors, allowed her to communicate with them, whereas non-witches could not. It is worthy to note that Hope has detected these events while still wearing her bracelet that blocks her power. In Keepers of the House, while other children were unconscious as a result of being tied to a spell that was draining their energy, Hope was able to retain her consciousness until her magic sealing bracelet was removed by Klaus. In High Water and a Devil's Daughter, Hope managed to counter the boundary spell cast by her aunt Freya on Marcel. She would later use her telekinesis to break the salt circle that bound the spirit of Davina to the mortal plane, sending her back to the Ancestral Plane, and returned her father back to his body. With Freya's guidance, Hope was able to connect with Elijah inside of the broken talisman. Once Elijah's mind was restored, Hope voluntarily left the confines of the pendent where with Freya's guidance, they cast a spell to restore the pendant back to its original state, albeit temporarily. In A Spirit Here That Won't Be Broken, Hope performed the Spell of Unknotting, taught to her by Kol, in the attempt to unlink Davina from the Hollow. Given enough time and enough concentration, she was able to successfully perform the Unknotting spell, unlinking Davina in the process. However, the spell was too much for her and she fainted from exhaustion.

Seven years later, Hope has improved control over her magic as a teenager; however, such control is lost during bursts of anger. Conversely, she's headstrong and strong-willed as she cast a boundary spell to entrap her father inside the Abattoir. Hope has also shown skill in creating her own spells, such that she created a spell combined with a cloaking spell that she performed on Hayley, as she was the one to kidnap her and lure Klaus back to New Orleans. She claimed that it was the "perfect" cloaking spell and that it would keep her safe; despite this claim, she was kidnapped again.

While she was the Hollow's vessel, containing both her spirit and Dark Magic, Hope's magic was amplified by that of the Hollow, as she whispered to Hope in her attempt to corrupt her. During this time, her telekinesis and pain infliction seemed to be amplified as purging her pain, by using her magic, seemed to be the only course of treatment.

Two years later, now with the Hollow expelled from her body, her magic seems to have become more stabilized and in her own control. However, she continues to use Dark Magic; such as when she sacrificed a rat to locate Landon and the knife he had stolen and secondly when she performed a Death Spell that wounded Dragon, that caused her to revert back into to her human form. Hope has seemingly mastered a vast array of spells and rituals that allow her to overpower and destroy all different kinds of supernatural creatures.

Hope is also part werewolf, having inherited the werewolf gene from both of her parents. Prior to triggering her curse, she displayed some increased agility and grace, above that of a normal human. Since she has triggered her werewolf gene, she has gained all of the powers of lycanthropy. In The Tale of Two Wolves, with Hope's first transformation looming, Caroline questions that Crescent wolves could control their transformations. In response, Klaus states that the first transformation is a rite of passage and cannot be controlled. This implicates that her werewolf nature as an Evolved Werewolf with the ability of Transformation Control. However, in This is the Part Where You Run, Hope states to Landon that her ability to control her transformation stems from her tribrid status, as like with other werewolf-vampire hybrids. Currently, whether it's the former or latter which grants her transformation control or additional abilities as an evolved werewolf, remains unknown. Additionally in The Tale of Two Wolves, Klaus explains that during werewolf transformations, the pain will make one want to delay the shift because that is all they believe they can handle. However, should one let the pain in, then it cannot break oneself. Following Klaus' instruction, Hope has accepted the pain during her transformation, thus it allows her to fully transform within a few minutes instead of a few hours. Despite that the werewolf curse was originally cast upon Native American witches, preventing them and their descendants from using magic, Hope's lycanthropy does not negate her ability to practice magic; further reasoning about this has not been elaborated upon.

Although Hope is not a full vampire-hybrid, she possesses a few vampiric traits, specifically her blood. Her blood was able to heal her mother while in the womb as well as she's able to heal herself, such as when she sliced open her hand and stabbed her foot with a trash picker. Her blood can be used to sire new vampires and hybrids, the latter being an ability only possessed by the Original Hybrid, her father as well as to heal vampires from a werewolf bite. If Hope were to die, she would become a vampire which should negate her ability to practice magic and would likely make her a vampire-werewolf hybrid, like her father. However, this is conjectural and based on known information and the product of such a circumstance is currently unknown.

Weaknesses

According to Dahlia, firstborns of her family's bloodline inherit great power; however, it is unstable and will damage and, ultimately, kill the witch if they are not taught to contain it. Furthermore, as a possessor of the werewolf gene, Hope will experience bouts of severe aggression.

As the world's first hybrid of all three supernatural species, the full extent and limits of Hope's weaknesses are currently unknown.

Emmett claimed that Marcel's advanced werewolf venom can take down a hybrid, an Original, and even Hope Mikaelson. However, he gave no evidence as to why it would or could be lethal to Hope, nor has this been proven to be true.

Hayley Marshall-Kenner

"I woke up in the church and all I felt was this hunger, and then I knew what I needed - I needed her. I can feel her. She's here. I can feel my baby."
—Hayley about Hope in From a Cradle to a Grave

TO403-113-Hayley-Hope~Freya

Hayley is Hope's mother and it is shown various times that Hayley strongly loves her daughter. When she first discovered she was pregnant, she attempted to abort the baby by ingesting wolfsbane, but when she couldn't resolve herself to do it she was attacked and she realized that she wasn't just protecting herself but the baby as well. She then learned that she will have a daughter. As time passed, Hayley grew concerned that because she never had a loving mother in her life, she would not know how to be a good mother to her daughter, but eventually, that faded and she grew to love the child deeply and like Klaus, is dedicated to protecting her at all costs. This is shown when Genevieve and the Harvest girls kidnapped Hope, and tried to kill her. Hayley was there and fought for her daughter, and got her back. She also demonstrated the aptitude to know where her daughter is, even if she is hidden by a spell. Hayley made a promise to herself and Hope that she (Hope) would grow up safe and loved (unlike herself). She kept this promise by choosing to send Hope away with Rebekah to keep her safe from those that would wish her harm in New Orleans. After a few months apart they were reunited. Hope is now living with her parents and family in The Abattoir.

Niklaus Mikaelson

"I was nine. And I saw this scary monster who looked like my dad. Who taught me how to mix paint. Who called me princess. I didn't know which version of you was real. And I waited for you. To explain it. Or, apologize. Or tell me that you loved me. I waited for you for years! But you didn't come."

Klaus comforting Hope

Klaus is Hope's father, and even though at first he refused the child in Always and Forever, he soon accepted her and was determined to not be like his step-father to his child. He even told Hayley that the cycle of the pain will end with their baby. After that, he did everything he could to make sure she was kept safe and was shown to be happy when he learned the baby would be a girl. He wants to protect her at all costs and hopes to be in her life someday when it is safe for her. He is not giving up on being in his daughter's life quite yet. He is also dedicated to being a better father to her than his step-father was to him. His love for his daughter brings out the best in Klaus, best seen in his reconciliation with both Rebekah and Marcel. With the child being born, Klaus is becoming the man he used to be. After some time apart from his daughter, she returned home. However, he remains paranoid as he worries about her safety.

Hope and Klaus' bond remain strong during the rest of the series until they were separated due to Klaus sacrificing himself to save his family. But Hope's memory of him was kept alive because of her mother telling Hope about her father such as his loyalty to his family, his love for her and his interests that she now shares with him. They were reunited after five years and, despite some initial nervousness on both sides, they shared a lovely day, it showing just how alike they are. Klaus shared stories from his long life, Hope showed him her magic when she healed a butterfly and they painted together.

Apart from some of the bad things he's done Hope knows what Klaus is and isn't afraid of him. She knows how strong he is and, because of that, she believes he can keep bad things away. Once he promised that nothing was going to harm her Hope hugged him. Despite their time apart Hope calls Klaus "Dad", showing that their bond is still strong.

Because of her mother telling her about her father Hope deems Klaus her "fairytale prince".

Rebekah Mikaelson

Rebekah left town before Hope's birth but soon returned when Klaus asked her to protect his daughter. Klaus told Rebekah that despite their differences, there was nobody else he would trust more with the life of his daughter. Rebekah left New Orleans with Hope and became her guardian; she often told Hope stories of her birth and how her her parents sent her away to be safe. Rebekah and Hope returned to New Orleans after Esther found them.

Elijah Mikaelson

"We are a thousand years of emptiness, an endless parade of slaughter. Until your daughter came to us. Now she is everything, Niklaus, worth every fight, worth every sacrifice. She must not suffer the same fate."

Elijah and Hope

Elijah is Hope's uncle and has sworn to protect her. He accepted her before everyone else did, even her parents. After Hope's birth, Hayley and Klaus decided to give Hope away to make the city safer for her to grow up in, and while Elijah was against it at first, he later agreed to it. When he saw Hope again (after their separation), in The Brothers That Care Forgot, he said to Rebekah that he can't imagine the joy spending every day with her and commented on how big she had gotten. As Rebekah went to change Hope's diaper, she saw that Elijah had killed a dozen people because he thought Hope was in danger. In Ashes to Ashes, Elijah gave a promise to Hayley that he will stay with Hope, protect her and help raise her, as Hayley doesn't want Klaus to be the only one Hope knows.

Landon Kirby

Hope first met Landon in 2026, and frequented where he used to work in Mystic Falls; Mystic Diaries. They grew to be friends and it was clear they shared a connection more than that of friends. However, Landon moved away from Mystic Falls they lost contact for two years. They reconnected when Landon's foster brother turned into a werewolf and Landon decided to be there with him, against Hope's advice, leading to Landon learning about the supernatural. To keep him from danger, Alaric decided to have him compelled and sent away; however, Landon betrayed Hope and the school by stealing a supernatural knife after the compulsion failed. Hope planned on confronting him about his betrayal, even armed with a death spell, but Alaric later rebuked her for this. Landon genuinely explained that the supernatural knife caused him to lie to Hope, but she didn't believe him. Despite what Landon had done, he was provided shelter at the Boarding School and putting their differences aside, he was willing to help Hope and school to investigate the missing reports of two Mystic Falls high schoolers. She attempts to save their friendship by starting a genuine conversation, but he cuts her off by explaining that he wished she had his back and that she just blamed him for everything that happened despite it not being his fault. Their back-and-forth prodding comes to head, when Hope, asked by Alaric, has to conduct a series of magical tests on Landon to determine whether he's supernatural. The tests, however, prove negative. She eventually forgives him for hurting her, but later, when seeing Landon off, he says he's not surprised she voted 'no' to keep him at the school. However, they resolve their issues when Hope gives him a magical compass and sends him to New Orleans in the hopes to locate his birth family and they share a heartfelt kiss. After Landon activates the magical compass, indicating that he was in trouble, Hope tracks Landon to Kansas and his birth mother, Seylah Chelon. With Landon safe from immediate harm, they reconnect, though before things get too physical, they're interrupted by Alaric. They eventually make their way back to the Boarding School where Hope asks Landon to be her boyfriend, to which he says yes. After this, Hope initiates another kiss.

Alaric Saltzman

1x02 Some People Just Want To Watch The World Burn-Alaric-Hope

For the past two years and after Klaus' death, Alaric has acted like another father figure to Hope, which Lizzie and Josie are quite jealous of. He often gives her advice and she takes it. Alaric also tries to mentor and convince Hope to step out of her comfort zone, as a father figure normally tried to do with their children. Alaric is also Hope's head master at her boarding school and also her coach in learning how to fight, physically of course. Hope sometimes jokes with Alaric saying that she'll need a new fighting mentor being Alaric is growing older. However, they remain close as much as a non-biological fatherly-daughterly coupling can be.

Josie Saltzman

Hope and Josie

Hope met Josie when she moved to Mystic Falls and for a decade their relationship was distant and cold, mostly because Hope used to distance herself from Josie. For the time being, Josie harbored a secret crush on Hope, with Lizzie describing her as "obsessed". However, after Hope's parents died, they became closer and eventually became friends, such that Hope even covers for and protects Josie. Sometimes their friendship seems to make Lizzie jealous, because of Lizzie's dislike for Hope. They, however, do care for one another. When facing the croatoan, Hope admits to Lizzie that when she was fourteen she had a week-long crush on Josie. Their friendship, became complicated after Hope was absorbed by Malivore and all memories of her were erased. This allowed Landon to become involved with Josie and the two developed a romantic relationship, culminating in their first kiss which was witnessed by Hope. When the memories of Hope returned to those closest to her, it complicated Landon's feelings towards both girls. Josie and Hope grew distant from one another, with Josie viewing Hope in a negative light for not telling everyone she was back from Malivore. Despite Hope's insistence that she never meant to hurt Josie, they remained distant. When Landon chose Hope instead of Josie, their dynamic grew awkward. They were able to gradually regain their friendship after Hope helped Josie with the Mora Miserium. Josie later helped decorate Hope's new dorm room so she felt more at home and less like an outsider.

Name

  • Hope is a feminine first name of English origin referring to a positive expectation or to the theological virtue of hope.[4]
  • Andrea comes from the Greek word andrós which means "manly". For a girl's name, some people extrapolate that the meaning is "courageous" or "womanly".[5]
  • Mikaelson is of of Scandinavian origin and means "Son of Mikael".

Trivia

  • Sophie described Hope as "one of Nature's loopholes" in The Originals.
  • Elijah believes Hope is the key in reuniting his family and he has sworn to protect Hope no matter what.
  • Hope was able to heal Hayley from her injuries sustained in Girl in New Orleans.
  • Sabine also had a vision that Hope will be the death of all witches. This could possibly be false as it was used to precipitate the death of the last living elder Agnes.
  • During Hayley's pregnancy, Hope had various nicknames.
    • Hayley often referred to her baby as "Magical Miracle Baby" but also called her "My Little Girl" and "Baby Girl" in a letter to her.
    • In Fruit of the Poisoned Tree, her aunt nicknames her "The Demon Spawn" and called her "My Little Niece". And she called her Mikaelson Miraculous Baby in Sinners and Saints. After Hope's birth, Rebekah calls her "Princess" in a bedtime story.
    • Sophie and Tyler both referred to her as "The Hybrid Baby" and Celeste called her "The Wolf".
    • Klaus called her "Littlest Wolf" in From a Cradle to a Grave, as a reference to the nickname that he gave to Hayley; "Little Wolf".
  • In Bloodletting, it was shown that Hope's hybrid blood can turn other werewolves into hybrids, causing them to be sired to Hayley. However, once Hope is born, it is likely that the sire bond will shift to her.
  • Klaus mentioned in Reigning Pain in New Orleans, that Hope is the only thing that matters to him.
  • According to Eve, many werewolves have heard about Klaus and Hayley's unborn child, Hope, and have come to New Orleans to see this miracle pregnancy for themselves.
  • As mentioned in Après Moi, Le Déluge, the descendants of Esther would be allotted her power due to the consecration of her remains. Thus it is possible that Hope will be able to channel the power of Esther.
  • As the only living descendant of Esther, Hope is capable of owning property, something which vampires (including even Original vampires) themselves can't do. This was confirmed in Après Moi, Le Déluge, where this fact was used to consecrate Esther's remains at the plantation (the deed to which is held by Hayley), thus enabling the Harvest Ritual to be completed by Sophie (who channeled Esther's power to become a witch elder).
  • Hope has a connection to four supernatural groups: French Quarter Coven, Crescent Wolf Pack, North East Atlantic Pack and Original Vampires.
  • The reason Klaus was able to procreate sexually where other undead beings cannot is that he is not a vampire, but a hybrid. Tyler stated that the ability to pass the werewolf gene trumped Klaus' vampire side.
  • Hope is also the first being born with vampiric blood.
  • In Moon Over Bourbon Street, Elijah expresses his wish that his niece would inherit her mother's "everything".
  • In The Big Uneasy, it is revealed that the ancestors want Hope to die. In From a Cradle to a Grave, Genevieve revealed that Hope's death was ordered by Esther. However in Wheel Inside the Wheel, Esther explains her will to Finn as she fears Dahlia, her sister.
  • In The Big Uneasy, Klaus states that his pack, and thus Hope's pack, is from the North East Atlantic.
  • In A Closer Walk With Thee, Hayley decided to move back in with Klaus and Elijah for the safety of her daughter.
  • In A Closer Walk With Thee, Klaus had a dream of his daughter.
  • Klaus built a nursery for his daughter in Hayley's room in the Abattoir and he showed it to Hayley in A Closer Walk With Thee. In Rebirth, still mourning his daughter Hayley forbids to Elijah to disassemble Hope's cradle before torn apart the nursery herself, but in Wheel Inside the Wheel, it seems that they built the nursery again.
    • The nursery included a teddy bear, a stuffed wolf, and a painting of New Orleans by full moon.
  • In A Closer Walk With Thee, Klaus says to Hayley that both her and their daughter are fighters.
    • It the second reference to the fact that Hope is a fighter, the first was by Hayley in Girl in New Orleans.
  • In From a Cradle to a Grave, there's a flashback in which Hayley lets Klaus feel the baby kick.
  • Due to the unique nature of her conception, Hope is a Nexus Vorti, a miracle event that the witches can draw upon for great power.
  • In From a Cradle to a Grave, in a brief flashback Hayley was seen writing a letter to her daughter. She tried out some names like Zoë, Caitlin and Angela.
  • Klaus names her Hope because she's the hope of his new family. As such, her name could not be more appropriate, since her arrival brought upon two reconciliations; the first being between Klaus and Marcel, and the second between Klaus and Rebekah.
  • In From a Cradle to a Grave, Hayley and Klaus agree to send Hope away to keep her protected and Klaus gives Hope to Rebekah.
  • As she shares the same blood as her father Klaus, her blood could presumably cure a werewolf bite.
  • Like her mother she was born in New Orleans, but she was conceived in her father's birthplace, Mystic Falls.
  • She shares some traits with her aunt, Freya:
    • Both of their births were against nature (Esther was infertile and being a vampire Klaus normally cannot have children).
    • They are both the first-born of their generation and they are both girls.
    • Hope was given to her aunt Rebekah by her parents to keep her safe, and Freya was taken away by her aunt Dahlia.
    • Both were separated from their parents under the pretense of death, while only a select few knew what really happened to them; only Esther, Finn, and Dahlia knew that Freya didn't die of the plague, and only Hayley, Klaus, Elijah, Ansel, and Rebekah knew that Hope didn't die shortly after her birth.
  • It seems that the first born of Esther's bloodline are all girls - her great-aunt Dahlia, her aunt Freya and herself are the firstborns of their own generation.
    • However, that wouldn't been the case if Freya's son had survived.
    • In those generations, there have been at least two females in each generation: Dahlia, Esther, Freya and Rebekah. In the 3rd generation, there is only one female, Hope.
  • Freya stated that the use of magic acts as a beacon for Dahlia, even if the witch is only just showing signs of witchcraft. As Hope used magic to stop and restart Camille's car, it is possible that Dahlia already knows about Hope's existence.
  • As of I Love You, Goodbye, the vampire and werewolf community are aware of her existence.
  • Hope seems to be fond of her step-father Jackson Kenner as he can calm her when she's upset.
  • Rebekah was the first to refer to Hope as a "tribrid" instead of a "hybrid".
  • Between Ashes to Ashes and You Hung the Moon, she grew up without her mother around.
  • Hope shares a few similarities with Nadia Petrova:
    • Both of their mothers gave birth to them in difficult situations.
    • Both were born on-screen (though Hope was in present day and Nadia was in a flashback).
    • They were both unwanted at first, Hope by her parents and Nadia by her grandfather and then by her mother 500 years later.
    • They were both born from a witch heritage.
    • They were taken from their mothers shortly after birth, Hope by the witches and Nadia by her grandfather. They were later reunited with them after a considerable amount of time apart (6 months and 500 years, respectively).
  • Hope is one of only two known characters to have attended both the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted and Mystic Falls High School; the other being Landon Kirby.

Tropes

  • Daddy's Girl - Hope seems to light up whenever her father is around. It's clear how much Hope adores her father and it's clear how much Klaus loves her. Klaus was besotted with her even before she was born
  • Hybrid Power - Hope has demonstrated magic abilities from her witch side and healing abilities from her vampire side though latter power is slower than a full vampire's healing factor.
  • Protective Mom - Hope has a mother that adores her and it's clear that Hope feels the same. Whenever Hope sees her mother, she's always laughing.
  • Birth/Death Juxtaposition - Almost as soon as she's born, her mother Hayley is killed by Monique. Subverted in that Hayley woke up in transition, due to dying while Hope's blood was still inside her.
  • Sins of Our Fathers - As Klaus notes, Hope has 'inherited' all of his enemies by being his daughter.
