Pickett Mausoleum is located in the oldest wing of the largest cemetery in Charlotte, North Carolina. Anna gave Jeremy the location which housed the desiccated Original, Mikael. He was entombed there in the 1990s by the witch, Abby Bennett Wilson.
Throughout The Vampire Diaries Series[]
In The Reckoning, Jeremy lead Katherine to the tomb with information given to him by Anna. There, they found Mikael—the Originals father.
In Smells Like Teen Spirit, Katherine attempted to feed Mikael blood from gravediggers, mourners, mice, rats, and bats, though he wouldn't drink from them. With renewed interest from Damon, she forced him to drink blood from another mourner and he finally awoke, though angered. Katherine realizes she's met him before at Gloria's in the 1920s.
After regaining his composure, he apologize for his outburst and explained that he had been denying himself human blood. She wants to kill Klaus and believed he had a weapon to do just that. Mikael assures her that he does and will. Katherine breaks his chains, freeing him while suggesting that blood will help him get on his feet. Mikael tells her that he doesn't feed on living things and proceeds to grab her, pulls her down into his stone coffin and drinks from her. Freed, he leaves the mausoleum in search for the Salvatore brothers.
