Dr. Goodfellow about the musical in Salvatore: The Musical!

Salvatore: The Musical is a theatrical production created by Landon Kirby under Dr. Goodfellow's guidance. The Salvatore Boarding School needed a musical program for the accreditation board and Dr. Goodfellow insisted the musical be about the founding of the school.

In Salvatore: The Musical!, Dr. Goodfellow comes up with a marvelous new arts program to satisfy the school's accreditation requirement. Borrowing Dr. Saltzman's office, he meets with Landon to discuss his future, particularly college, now that he's human. At his behest, Landon complied and agreed to write the musical about the founding of the Salvatore Boarding School.

With flyers in hand, he hopes to run some ideas off Hope. Initially, she dismisses him, as she doesn't sing in public; however, she's quickly angered when Landon explains that some of the musical will involve her dad. Furious, she wants her family to stay out of the musical.

Going ahead with the musical, Landon holds auditions for parts. The majority of students auditioning, including Kaleb and Wade wants to play Damon Salvatore. As Jed is called for his audition, he surprises Landon wanting to play the role of Stefan, in which he immediately gets the part. Lizzie barges into the auditions and declares that she will play Caroline, as no one else could play her mother better than she could. Landon relents and accepts her as the role. Lizzie also knows the perfect person to portray Elena Gilbert, the lead, and suggests Josie. She eventually agrees, but wants to read the script, though Landon hasn't developed one.

As time passes, Landon begins to hold rehearsals for the songs. During one of the practices, Landon is overwhelmed, particularly with his cast making complaints. Jed rewrites a scene, insisting it's way better, whereas Josie doesn't feel the story is heading in the right direction for Elena. Josie makes a remark about him walking away from Hope, twice, insinuating that he doesn't believe that love is eternal. Landon then suggests that they rehearse Caroline's part, but Lizzie freezes and abruptly leaves.

With the script still not complete, Landon takes shelter in the library, but is overwhelmed—there's the Travelers, sirens, and Bonnie Bennett's numerous disappearances, and many others. Witnessing his stress, Dr. Goodfellow believes he'll make the right editorial decisions. He suggests there's a missing piece and believes there is a way to complete the musical and get Hope back. Following this, Landon is inspired to write a number about Hope's family's vow of "Always and Forever" using a letter written by her father. Though meaning well, Hope rebuffs his song, citing that she trusted him with her father's letter and he used it as a song lyric. Landon, however, is unable to see the issue, but has solved his musical problem.

The night of the musical finally arrives. Several of the cast are still changing parts of the script up until Dr. Goodfellow tells Landon that his "Klaus" has fallen ill. He offers himself to cover the role and Landon has no choice to accept. With curtains drawn back, the musical begins at the school. The musical tells the story of Mystic Falls,, several notable events--Founders' Day Celebration, Masquerade Ball, Winter Wonderland, Comet Festival, End of Summer Party, Remembrance Day, Decade Dances, Tree-Lighting Day, Miss Mystic Falls Pageant, Commonwealth Day, Historical Society Founders' Display and Prom—as well as the deaths of Miranda and Grayson Gilbert, Elena's life following this tragic event, and the romance and tension between the infamous Salvatore brother's, Stefan and Damon. Though the musical is a hit with the audience, Hope refuses to be a part of the musical nor to watch. Instead, she remains in her room throughout the production.

As the musical is in-between songs, Josie speaks with Dr. Goodfellow about the show's reception. Dr. Goodfellow, however, takes her arm and squeezes, apparently breaking her bone. Josie unable to perform the remainder of the musical and Landon forced to make on-the-fly changes. After Dr. Goodfellow shares a scene with a student portraying Hope, he convinces her to assume the role of Elena for Josie and sing the final song. Ultimately, she and Landon reconcile their differences. Meanwhile, MG tries a final time to confront Dr. Goodfellow as the monster released from Malivore and his actions throughout the musical, but his efforts prove futile. With the end of the musical, Dr. Goodfellow releases MG from his handcuff, his plan successful in breaking down Hope and Landon and rebuilding them stronger. He gives MG some final advice, that it would seem even monsters can be redeemed and bids him farewell.
