Salvatore Idol was a game show-like event that MG hosted in the attempt to get reach Hope Mikaelson and have her turn her humanity back on. Hope agreed to MG, Josie, and Cleo's request to hear them all out in exchange for all the weapons she needs to go after Triad. To prevent any physical violence, the event was bound with an unbreakable covenant spell. MG also gave her the Truth Sphere to keep her honest.

- Hope joked that if people were going to start to sing, she would turn Salvatore Idol into Survivor, an obvious nod to American Idol.
- Even after Salvatore Idol was ended, MG, Finch and Ethan, and Josie tried three additional methods to reach Hope's humanity. While MG talked to Hope, Finch and Ethan attempted to sedate Hope and drain her of blood, though end with Finch being knocked unconscious. Josie attempted to use her darker self to see what Hope was afraid of. After Hope defeated Dark Josie, Hope trapped her within the Therapy Box.
- In You Will Remember Me, Lizzie mocked the name of the event, calling it Salvatore's Got No Talent, another obvious nod to America's Got Talent.
