I learned about it in the Lycée, it's called The Devil's Star. They say one throw can make a thousand cuts.
Davina about The Devil's Star in From a Cradle to a Grave

The Devil's Star is a dark object that was cursed by two witches, Mary-Alice Claire and Astrid, in the early 1900's under the orders of the Original Vampire, Kol Mikaelson. By appearance, it resembles an occidental-style shuriken (throwing star). The star was designed to be thrown as a weapon and has been magically imbued to inflict a thousand cuts once it has been embedded into a person's body by a single throw.

It was first seen in From a Cradle to a Grave, when Davina found it in the hidden room in Father Kieran's secret apartment. It was later revealed in The Originals: The Awakening that it was created by witches under the command of Kol Mikaelson.

Throughout The Originals Series[]

The Devil's Star was cursed in the early 1900's by Mary-Alice Claire and Astrid along with a number of other dark objects under the orders of Kol Mikaelson, as a practice for his plan to create a dagger that could neutralize Klaus.

Davina explained to Cami and Marcel that she had learned about the object in the Lycée. According to Davina, the star, when thrown a single time at a person, it will cause the victim to develop a thousand cuts on their body.

In From a Cradle to a Grave, Marcel originally intended to use the Devil's Star on Klaus, in order to make him bleed profusely so Davina could collect the blood to heal Marcel and the rest of the vampires of their werewolf bites. However after Marcel arrived at the cemetery, where Klaus, Elijah, and Hayley were fighting the witches Genevieve, Monique and Abigail in order to stop the sacrifice of Klaus and Hayley's newborn daughter Hope. Marcel saw that Monique was about to kill the baby, and despite having a rule against hurting children; he threw the Devil's Star at Monique, which lodged itself in her stomach and caused her to die of exsanguination from all the cuts on her body.

In No More Heartbreaks, Cami uses the devil's star on Lucien but it only slows him down for a small period of time.
