This Feels A Little Cult-y is the fourteenth episode of the third season of Legacies and the forty-sixth episode of the series overall.
Summary[]
WITCHAPALOOZA — In an attempt to control some of Hope's negative emotions, Josie suggests they join Lizzie at a wellness retreat for witches. Alaric and Dorian team up after learning MG may be in trouble. Jed and Ethan also appear.[2]
Plot[]
A flashback from eighteen months prior shows Ryan Clarke at a Triad Industries Detention Facility. He talks with a prisoner there who wears a cloak. Holding the artifact, Ryan suggests that the two work together and, in turn, he will free the prisoner from their cell.
Back in the present, the Salvatore School is holding a theatre rehearsal of Romeo and Juliette. Hope is late for the rehearsal, however, and things become intense when she arrives in a bad mood, having broken up with Landon the previous night. Hope's magic begins to pool out and the room begins to shake before she storms off.
At Mystic Falls High, Ethan talks with Alaric and Dorian, both who are unaware of MG's location. When Dorian suggests that Ethan and MG are friends, Ethan remarks that the two share classes but are not friends.
Out by the Old Mill, Josie asks for Hope's assistance with visiting Lizzie at the Wellness Retreat for Witches; Josie has become worried for Lizzie's safety and wants to ensure that she is okay. Hope agrees, wanting to escape the school for a day and the memories accompanying it.
In the gym, however, Finch becomes increasingly sick of the treatment delivered by the rest of the Salvatore pack, such as having to clean up after their games. Despite being new at werewolf law, Finch is aware that she has the ability as a pack member to challenge the Alpha, but Jed is reluctant to fight her given she is a woman. The two agree that they will settle leadership of the pack over an old-fashioned game of pool.
At the Wellness Retreat, Hope and Josie are surprised when they find Lizzie waiting for them at the gate. Inviting them inside, Lizzie gives the two a tour but neither are impressed with the vibes of the retreat. Josie suggests they should leave, given Lizzie seems okay, but Hope remarks that they are not leaving without Lizzie. They soon find out that each member of the retreat are afforded a colour, red or blue. Hope is roped into initiating contact with Andi, the leader of the retreat, which brings her into a strange behaviour; she is later given the colour blue.
In the woods, Dorian and Alaric are searching for MG, given he has been missing for days. They eventually find him, but he is covered in blood and tells Alaric that there is a body in the woods. Believing MG to be responsible for the death — and given his Ripper status — Dorian subdues him with a tranquiliser against Alaric's wishes. As Alaric loads MG into the car, Dorian tells him that he has changed, but Alaric remarks that it is for the better.
At the Salvatore School, Finch and Jed prepare to play pool. Jed believes Finch is kidding herself believing she can win, given he is unbeatable at the Salvatore School, but is quickly informed by a pack member that the pack always let him win. Finch begins playing and pots numerous balls from the offset, and it appears that Jed has already lost the game before it has even begun.
At the Wellness Retreat, Lizzie has become increasingly suspicious of Andi, and begins to spy on her from her room. She becomes increasingly annoyed when she realises that the necklace Andi wears is coloured glass, therefore she is not under the same spell as the other members. Lizzie tries to tell Hope and Josie this, but finds the two have already fallen under the spell. Josie and Hope capture Lizzie and she is tied up and confronted by Andi.
Meanwhile, Finch is one ball away from beating Jed at the game of pool and stealing from him his Alpha title. When she sees the look on his face as he looks around at his pack members, however, she realises that stealing the title from Jed is not what she wants. With this, she purposefully misses her shot at the winning ball.
Despite believing that MG was the villain, Dorian is attacked and taken hostage by a wendigo whilst burying the body of the deceased. He is taken to a cave, where he is later found by Alaric who is reluctant to believe that the wendigo is real. Dorian hands Alaric MG's journal wherein they find excerpts of his superhero/vigilante persona, and the two realise MG has been hiding out in the cave. Momentarily, however, the two are attacked by the wendigo, but are saved by MG who tears out and melts it heart.
Lizzie has been able to convince Josie that everything is not as it seems at the retreat and her crystal turns red. The two hatch a plan to confront Hope and Andi before the sacrifice, and are successfully able to do so through harsh words. They defeat the witches at the retreat and question Andi on her plan. She reveals that she was held prisoner by Triad and freed by a man whom she no longer remembers, but knows that their deal was sealed with an unbreakable covenant — should she fail, she will die. Realising that she cannot win, Andi jumps into a hole in the ground, completing the sacrifice and unleashing an unknown entity.
Having saved Alaric and Dorian, MG accompanies the two of them to the hospital whilst Dorian gets stitches. Alaric asks MG to return to the Salvatore School, but MG remarks that he has some explaining to do. MG tells Aalric that he never compelled Ethan to forget about the supernatural like Alaric told him to, and doesn't want to stop helping people. Alaric tells him that he can both return to the school and help people at the same time.
Meanwhile, Josie, Lizzie, and Hope are tripping following a potion thrown over them by Andi. They plan to blast whatever comes out of the hole with a spell, but are hit off guard when fire ejects from the hole blowing them back. Momentarily, a masked figure exits the hole.
