[So it's a] supernatural lie detector. Pretty much your worst nightmare.
Hope explains the truth sphere to Landon in Malivore

The Truth Sphere or Truth Orb was an enchanted glass sphere that changed color to detect whether or not someone was telling the truth or lying.

Description[]

The Truth Sphere is a smooth, clear sphere made of seemingly a crystalline- or glass-like mineral. There are no other markings on the surface of the sphere and it remains to be seen who created or enchanted this sphere to give its magical properties. As the name suggests, it indicates whether or not a person states the truth from answering a question. Should a person indicate the truth, the sphere will glow a bright blue. Should the person lie, the sphere will glow bright red. The magic of the sphere seems to be pretty straight forward and only acts upon the knowledge that the target is consciously aware of.

Throughout Legacies Series[]

Season One[]

In Malivore, to help determine what Landon was, Hope used the truth sphere from Emma Tig. To begin with she asked him control questions, such as what his name was and his favorite food. Landon responded with his name and rabbit, a truth and lie, respectively. Hope proceeded to ask him where he was born, though he was an orphan and grew up in the foster care system and didn't know. She asked about his parents and only knew that his mother was Seylah and he never met his father. Hope then asked Landon why he couldn't be compelled, though he didn't have any idea. A couple of days ago, he didn't even know what compulsion was. Likewise, she asked why he stole the supernatural knife, though again he didn't know why. Again the sphere he was indicating the truth on all accounts.

Later, Landon held on to the truth sphere and asked Hope why she was still mad at him. Hope lied, telling him she couldn't care less. Showing her the sphere, she amended her statement, telling him that it was easier to be mad. Pushing her, she admitted that when she let her guard down, people tended to disappoint her.

In Mombie Dearest, after Josette Laughlin was unexpectedly resurrected, Alaric, used the sphere to determine if she was being truthful. He asked her name and profession, both of which she answered truthfully. Alaric asked her to repeat "I'm here to harm you." The sphere indicated that the statement was a lie, meaning she wasn't there to harm them. Josie then stepped in to ask further questions about how she and Alaric met, truthfully telling her.

Season Three[]

In I Was Made To Love You, after Hope concluded Landon was not acting himself, she cast a sleeping spell on him and bound him within the Old Mill. Using the truth spell, he told her that he wasn't a monster, which was true by his standard since that is what he believed. She asked him whether or not he loved her and again, it was true. Landon asked her if there was anything he could do to convince her that he was still Landon. She lies, telling him that there wasn't anything she could think of. However, he pointed out that it was a lie and she continued with other methods to test him.
